A Most Wanted Man (2014)
Brilliant!
Excellent. Brilliant movie. Philip Seymour Hoffman is wonderful and convincing in his role - brilliant German accent too I might add. Rachel Macadams is fantastic as the naive aid worker. Gripping and intense the whole way through. You never look away. It's done so well you're never made to judge the characters for good or bad. You find yourself either liking them or hating them. Hoffman is outstanding and I think all the audience members want to cry out in rage on his behalf at the end. Very intense. Very realistic story. There's a key moment when Philip Seymour Hoffman's character says " We both know he's innocent" Didn't see that one coming. Great moment. It made me want to read up about terrrorism in Germany and work out how accurate it is. I'm fairly sure it is pretty accurate. This was a great way for Philip Seymour Hoffman to go out. Ending his career on an up. If he were alive he most certainly would have got an Oscar nomination. Highly recommend and will re watch for sure
Next Door to the Velinsky's (2011)
Amaaaaziiing Film
Love love LOVED this movie. Just a beautiful and touching story. While it has been advertised as a psychological thriller - ( and it is that to a certain extent) but it is also a really touching love story and the story of an abuse victim finding herself again. While I utterly disliked the Ruby character at first I found that she does "grow" on you. This could also be Traicos' performance which is incredibly moving. Matt Doran who plays the male lead is fantastic in the role. And while at first I wanted to kill Ruby by half way through the movie I wanted everything to work out which ( And don't read this if you don't want it to be spoiled) but fortunately it does. But it does this realistically not in a silly Holllywood Happy Ending type of way. Am trying to see if its out on DVD yet but doesn't seem to be. Think I might add to my collection. Great movie. Highly recommend
