Tumbbad (2018)
The most beautiful mysterious horror flick ever made in Indian cinema..
Tumbbad's main theme revolves around the "greed" which subsists in humans, but Tumbbad is much more than that. I have never seen such a great horror movie penned down so beautifully that after leaving the cinema hall you will have images of Tumbbad flashing inside your mind.
Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (2018)
A 100 crore deserving film
The movie is full of entertainment, just like the earlier Pyar ka Punchnama series. This movie is a tribute to your friendship. Don't miss it.
Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana (2017)
Ego vs. Love
What happens when your Ego is collided with your Love. This movie is also about one such fight but its written in a well manner, however the last 30 mins of the movie were senseless. Still a good one to watch.
Race 3 (2018)
Watch it when you have nothing else to do..
The movie is all about Salman Khan, no story, no good music, nothing at all. Just like Race 2, this piece is also full of over suspense, and random sequences.
Ghoul (2018)
Don't Miss it!!!
Indian cinema and horror, they are like hero and villain they can't go together. Talking about old horror films, they were really scary, now I don't know why they were so, maybe I was just a kid that's why or maybe they were really scary. Who knows? But still the horror element was there even if the same old story of a couple staying at a "haveli" was repeated over and over again. Making a horror cinema is very difficult, because the director has to make people feel two things, the thrill and in the back of the mind the horror element, and that is something not everyone can do. Netflix's new reel Ghoul is such an attempt towards this, and I must say they have blown my mind!! I mean if we ignore the acting part of extras, Ghoul is something which will really make you feel something. For me it was more of a thriller less of horror but still it was something which I have not seen for many years.
Radhika Apte's (as Nidha) and Manav Kaul starrer Ghoul is a story of such a time where nationalism is above all, and every person who questions the State is labelled as "anti-national". Ghoul is about Nidha who was recently recruited in an advance interrogation camp, for interrogating one of the most wanted "anti-national" of all time. This gist of Ghoul may give you a feeling that the series is more about nationalism rather than a horror flick but believe me, this is not the case. Nationalism is just the cover up given by the writers the main theme is Ghoul.
In conclusion, not a single moment was there, where I got bored, not a single! The three episodes were full of thrill, horror and thrill!! That is something which is missing in most of the Indian horror movies. For me Ghoul is a go!! Don't miss it!!!
Karwaan (2018)
Irrfan! Irrfan! and Irrfan!!
The movie is an average one, but Irran Khan will make it above average.. He won't let you get bore... Karwaan is Irrfan!
Sui Dhaaga: Made in India (2018)
Film is about struggle.. and at the end that's all what matters..
The film will majorly focus on the struggle of Mauji, who wants to start his own company, but what struggle does he faces? and how does he reach to what he wants, that's all this movie is about. and I think that's all what matter
to try is what all is needed, winning is secondary....
Kapoor & Sons (2016)
it will stir your emotions...
After such a long time, I have seen such a gripping drama movie. Drama is such a genre that it becomes very difficult to grip the audience. You don't want them to yawn in Cinema halls. Kapoor and Sons, delivers such an amazing script along with extraordinary acting of all the actors. The movie is about a family and their internal issues, but it is more than that. It is a message that will really stir your emotions from inside. One of the best drama movie of all the time.
Sanju (2018)
A must watch..
The film is alike any other Raju Kumar Hirani's film. This film is a journey of How the Sanjay Dutt of Rocky became Sanju Baba. What type of struggle he had to face during his acting career. The film showcases the reality of Sanjay Dutt as to what was he in real life, when he started his career in acting and how did he fight with the problems. The film will make your laugh, make you cry and make you feel that connection with Sanjay Dutt not as a celebrity but as a human. A must watch!!!!
Dhadak (2018)
At least make a good remake, if not a good movie...
The issue of this film is the main ingredient, so telling that issue will ruin the fun. However, there are other things need to be talk of. The film is based on Sairat directed by Nagraj Manjule, but Dhadak is miles away from Sairat. Sairat was having that realistic feel in it, whereas Dhadak is another commercial, bollywood film. That essence of realism in Sairat was the back bone of that film, which was missing in this. If you have watched Sairat, you won't like this even a bit, but if you haven't then also the film is an average. Acting part is Ok only, music is also taken from Sairat, so there is nothing to talk about this film.
Batti Gul Meter Chalu (2018)
The message was delivered to the point
The story majorly focuses on the issue of electricity scams played by some giant electricity companies. Its a story of three friends, Shahid, Shraddha and Divyendu living in a small town of Uttrakhand which suffers from shortage of electricity everyday. The shortage is so much that people have become habitual to this style of living. But Divyendu wants to become a big businessman and to become that he starts a factory in that town, but to his shock the electricity bills are so high that his business didn't survive, as a result of which he commits suicide. Shahid takes a vow that he will go to the roots of this problem and at the end what he reveals is a reality, that there might be a possibility that Batti is gul but Meter is still working....
the movie delivers that message without any doubt in the mind of audience but it is full of melodrama.. One time watch..
Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran (2018)
Watch it to know how India did it
The story about Project Pokhran. The film showcases that how India, which was considered as a non-nuclear country, and was pressurized by other countries to be a non-nuclear state, emerged from all this chaos so silently that the most powerful satellite on the earth couldn't detect that India is carrying out a nuclear operation right under its nose. Like every other story based on some real incident, this story will give you those patriotic goosebumps and will make you feel proud. The thrill factor in the movie is that how India did it with a satellite revolving over their heads 24 hours.
102 Not Out (2018)
Below average
102 Not out.. once upon a time there was a father and son. The father was 102 years old and son was 75. The father had a wish that he has to die as the oldest person on earth and in order to survive that much, the father decided to keep himself away from his son. He decides to send his son to old age home. The son after hearing this went into a shock and accepted 6 conditions which his father told him to fulfil in order to live in that house. Those 6 conditions and their fulfilment is the story of this film. All the six conditions are so unnecessary that you will feel why this father is doing this to his child why can't they live happily. And at the end of the film when father tells his son the reasons that as to why he put these conditions the first thing you will feel is ? wow so new! We weren't knowing that.. below average.
Jab Harry Met Sejal (2017)
The songs are good..
Shahrukh Khan, Imtiaz Ali and Anushka Sharma with Diplo... what more does the audience want? A good story is the answer.. which this film failed to give. The opening of the film will make you think that why does this person working in this foreign city, why he is not in India. Then comes Sejal, that's all. That is all! The story is that Sejal was on a trip to Europe and she losts here ring. Sejal goes to Harry to help her finding her ring.. that is all the movie can serve on our platters. After this the story will keep on going or we can say it will keep on dragging without any sense. The movie will give you time to check your mobile phones, yawn, sleep and to do other stuffs also. However there is a twist in the movie that is so predictable that there is no need to apply your mind. Full of melodrama, overacting, and all unnecessary stuffs. This movie is a disaster.
Sholay (1975)
No Reviews
Writing a review of this movie will be a disrespect to the actors, directors, writers, musicians and all those persons who have contributed their lives into this movie. This movie is a master piece and no critic can ever deny this.
A Death in the Gunj (2016)
The class audience too might not like this movie...
The movie got released with Wonder Woman, you can imagine how empty the movie hall would be when I went to watch this. The movie is a directorial debut of Konkona Sen Sharma. It is a story of 1979 when a family visits McCluskiengank, and the events which unfold thereafter. Film is majorly focused on Shutu played by Vikrant Massey who has come to be with his family after completing his studies at Calcutta. As soon as the film starts, you get a feel that now something will happen, something thrilling, something which might leave you in shock or surprise, but to my disappointment, no such thing happens in the movie. And this does not happens only once, this cycle keeps on repeating, the film will give you an expectations by playing suspenseful music, gripping direction but at the end the movie will leave you with nothing. The movie is not for mass audience, it is only for class audience and that too I am not sure of. One thing which I liked about the movie was that the background music which they have used is some kind of folklore and its really good.
Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018)
Awestruck!!!
Julia: So, How is he?
Lucas: Oh.. you know.. the same old Ethan!
This one dialogue from Fallout is the whole jist. Tom is still refreshing, energetic and ageless with his mind blowing stunts and coolness. Fallout is the 6th instalment of this action packed series Mission Impossible which was originally based on a TV series. The foundation built by the first three series was so strong that, now we can't imagine a MI series without Tom Cruise. Mission impossible means Ethan Hunt and Ethan Hunt means Tom Cruise, that' all! End of discussion! I know all of have had already watched the trailer of Fallout but still I will share it.
We all know what Mission Impossible is all about. There is a villain who is trying to destroy the world and he believes in the philosophy that There cannot be peace without, first, a great suffering and the greater the suffering, the greater the peace' and to stop him from doing this, Ethan Hunt is set on a mission. Every instalment of this series has a different villain and different hurdles but Ethan will surpass them easily, and will save the world. The starting of the film was very normal, I thought that's why they were focusing so much on stunts, the story is very normal but they proved me wrong!! As story moves, the grip is tightened with each suspense and event there is a twist in movie and at last I was convinced that the "very normal" starting of the movie was necessary to give the audience a much more fulfilling experience in the later part.
Talking about the "impossible" things of Fallout, first and foremost, Tom Cruise!! What a work he has done!!! Amazing work! I mean if there'd be an Oscar for commercial Cinema then I think Tom would have won it a long time ago. HE IS THE SAME OLD ETHAN!!!!! I mean, there is nothing left which he has not done to entertain us. With the same energy, same attitude and same coolness he has done his work. And the remaining gaps are filled by the stunts. I mean, you will think, "Does he fear death??" the answer is NOOO!!!! There is nothing left for him, he has done all the stunts by himself! In Ghost Protocol he climed Burj Khalifa and I was like OKAY! This is the limit but again in Rogue Nation he was hanging out on a plane!!! And in this movie he has crossed the limits he is hanging on a rope attached to a helicopter! I was like, "man, you hate this life? huh??"
Second, best thing is Cinematography, and especially of the action sequences, that helicopter sequence looked sooooo big, soooo big on screen that I got gossebumps while watching that scene. Two helicopters flying over mountains, and Tom Cruise hanging on a rope. That's the beauty of that scene.
In the starting you will think, when will the action come? When?? But when it comes, you will be like, please don't end this please!! But the film makers knew that apart from Tom, action is what audience will be looking for and yessss!! This film will not leave you unsatisfied. You will love Tom while he runs on bike in the streets of Paris, you will love him when he did the HALO jump, you will love his sense of humour, you will love him in every aspect!!
The last and the most important thing which I observed was the audience reaction. In theatre, whenever there is a play going on stage, there is a big importance of audience reaction. Their reaction gives you an idea that how well the play is going on, is audience liking it? Such natural reactions were there in this movie. I mean on every big event or stunt audience was reacting. The scene when Tom jumped and broke off his ankle, even after knowing this fact, the audience reacted as if this was the first time they have seen it. What other thing a film maker wants apart from this, that audience so much related to their cast that if they are injured the audience is feeling bad. That's a beautiful thing in this movie, every incident, suspense, fight scene, on everything the audience reacted and according to me that's a great thing, it shown how much gripping your movie is.
If someone asks me "how's the movie?" I would just say "just like Ethan Hunt".
Stree (2018)
Hats off to Amar Kaushik
In India, to make a horror film is a big task. Big because it involves lot of things, the director has to not only to keep the thrill and horror going but also has to keep audience in fear all the time and this task becomes more difficult when there has to be some comedy element in it, without making the people forget that they are sitting is a horror movie. Director Amar Kaushik has attempted such a thing in this film and has made it to the mark...
The story of stree is about a village name Chanderi, where every year a specific paranormal incident occurs. Every year a ghost of a woman comes to the village and hunts down men from that village. Vicky played by Raj Kumar Rao meets Shraddha Kapoor and falls in love instantly but to his shock he later realizes that the women he is in love with is that Stree.
The film is very well written, not a single time you will feel that you are losing interest in the film. There is a kind of balance in the film which I liked the most about it. It does not focuses on any one side in particular, during the horror sequences, you will definitely feel the chill and when the comic sequences come, you will get relaxed from that horror chilling effect. Talking about the acting part, Rajkumar Rao and Pankaj Tripathi, are the stars of this film. You will rarely see such films in Indian cinema.
The Third Man (1949)
A Great movie of 1949
Holly Martins a novelist comes to visit one of his friend Harry Lime, but later founds out that his friend died on that day only. Holly comes to know that no strangers were there when Harry Died in accident, which creates a doubt in his mind that whether it was an accident or a murder? From the Harry's porter he comes to know that there was a "third man", who was he? is the question Holly seeks in the movie. Later on some events unfolds in such a way forcing Holly to change his mind toward Harry. The movie is set up during the post war period, opening shots shows Vienna which has been destructed by the war. The most amazing thing about the movie is the camera work and the editing. The movie is of 1949, and by this it can be said that during that point of time people would have loved it, as the plot is so intriguing that you cannot leave your seat for once. Last but not the least the character of Anna Schmidt will make you love her more and more.
