Bug (2006)
Huge Disappointment
For me, this movie was a huge disappointment. I'm usually a big fan of Judd and her movies, but I must say that I found this movie to be a let down after the first ten minutes and waited for something to happen for the next hour and a half. It never did. By the end of it I was wondering how on earth the movie was even made, because the final few scenes were just a gibberish mess. Then in the credits saw it was based on a play. So that kind of explained half of the fact why the movie never really left the hotel room apart from a bar scene. I defiantly wouldn't classify this movie as a thriller or horror film, nor a drama. If anything I'd say it was psychological fantasy - yes - it was THAT bad.
Backstage (1988)
Branigan does her best in a bleak situation.
I purchased this film off ebay for the one simple reason that I was a Branigan fan and felt that it would be a good chance to see if she had acting ability. Apparently apart from being a very good singer Laura is also a decent actor. Given the script is weak and budget on the film looks low, I feel Ms Branigan did her best given the situation and realization that this was only her second picture. I think the movie as a whole had its dull moments and ran too long, but at rare times had good substance.
I recommend seeing this film if your a fan of the late Laura Branigan or you'd just like to watch a decent 'b' grade flick that is set in the beautiful city of Melbourne.
