Dark Skies (2013)
5/10
Slow, clichéd and generic
7 February 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Dark Skies doesn't make any effort to distinguish itself from its peers in the horror genre, which is not necessarily a bad thing as The Conjuring recently proved. Unfortunately the same can't be said for Dark Skies - it rambles on for way too long with generic and arbitrary scares that have no purpose or relation to the plot, before culminating in an unsatisfying climax. The movie feels like a rehash of Signs with a supernatural angle, but Dark Skies captures neither the family dynamic nor the scares of the former. In the end the movie doesn't do anything wrong, it just doesn't do it well enough. If you can look past the unoriginality and lack of scares, there is still a watchable movie underneath.

The result of years utter stupidity
10 February 2012
First hunters and ranchers wiped out all apex predators, for sport or other nonsensical reasons. Then when other species naturally grow out of control, instead of opting for the obvious solution of restoring the natural balance by re-introducing said predators, we get nonsense such as what you see on Hogs gone Wild: a bunch of idiots filling up their freezers under the guise of conservation. The line of reasoning that leads these people to believe that hunting, trapping and poisoning animals is the way to go is not only ignorant, but simply dangerous. It's the same line of logic that has led to deforestation, habitat loss, extinct species and degradation of biodiversity all over the world.

Back when cartoons still had a story to tell
29 June 2006
It must have been 13-14 years ago when I last saw Teddy Ruxspin as a little kid. After such a long time you tend to forget about most of your favorite childhood cartoons, but the one that always stuck by me was 'The adventures of Teddy Ruxpin'. I vividly remember the great story it had, the many interesting places Teddy used to visit and the strange creatures he met along the way. This cartoon had a real story to tell and an interesting one at that, something you can't say about most modern day cartoons. Perhaps they should air 'The adventures of Teddy Ruxpin' again sometime, not for sentimental reasons, but to see how it would hold up against today's cartoons. I'm sure it would still appeal to the younger generation.
