Poetry can make life easier
3 July 2017
Life is made of routines. Everyday we wake up towards the same places, meeting the same people. If you want drama and action, then this movies isn't fit for you. This is a movie about routines, but more than that: a movie about how we can find beauty in the routines. Paterson, a bus driver, does the same everyday in a village that never leaves a sleepy, foggy state. But he faces each day with joy, together with his ally: the love for poetry. Watch the movie if you like to see normal people, doing normal things but still, finding beauty in the small things.

Miss Sloane (2016)

Don't take the rating too serious
7 February 2017
I went to the cinema to watch the movie, expecting an average 6- rating-work. However, as I was leaving the room, I believed I've seen, at least, an 8.0 rating-movie.

The movie starts quite slowly building its plot, as we witness the professional life of Miss Sloane, a self-centered woman who totally neglects her personal life, aiming for "greater goals". We understand she is a complex human being, who uses all means necessary for a win at court.

However, as the movie continues, we start to get really attracted to the plot, with some twists and tense moments. The end is exactly what I expected: a climax, a mix of emotions and the only time we see Sloane's sentimental side.

I highly recommend this movie for a Saturday night: not Oscar- worthy, but definitely good.

The odd becomes captivating
31 January 2017
When the movie begins, you'll quickly think: "what am I seeing?". But as you continue watching it, you will understand you are watching an incredible metaphor of the real world. You will have moments of silence, complemented with an original soundtrack, apparently moments of non-sense (you will realize later it totally makes sense) and Colin Farrell changing during the movie. After the movie, you will understand you are one of the characters everyday, when you wake up and go to work. It's a quite disturbing thought, as you will see the plot is quite twisted, but I would say it's an excellent portrait of nowadays and how the relationships are build. Highly recommended.

Best video game adaptation
24 January 2017
As an Altair and Ezio Auditore's follower, is quite hard for me to give bad feedback about Assassins Creed. The plot is superbly well-made, with a story that mixes historical facts with technology. It's quite futuristic but it makes us think about serious stuff like "Are the Templars descendents alive, amongst us?" and "What are they planning for Mankind?". Fassbender does a great Callum Lynch/Aguilar with great physical performance and acting skill. Marion Cotillard keeps up with his pace. The scenarios are well designed and this movie has the ability of making us travel in time. The only negative point is related to the movie duration. Such a rich story should deserve a trilogy, so that the viewer could understand the Order of the Assassins' organization through time.

Affleck gives the big step
24 January 2017
A truly refreshing title in the cinema industry. We enter the story of a middle age man facing serious existential questions, apparently with no emotions at all. If we can find the beginning of the movie quite lame, somehow it captivates us when we understand the very-well written plot. We discover Casey Affleck as an all-around actor we didn't know, showing us sides of despair and sides of joy, with unprecedent authenticity. I highly recommend this movie, not for being particularly entertaining, but to make the viewer pay attention to details, to emotions and the complexity of human relations. With this performance, I also think Casey Affleck joined the restricted group of the "sharks of acting": will it be enough for the Oscar? I don't know, but I believe he will get it, sooner or later.
