Predestination (2014)
I always enjoy a movie that surprises me...
So, this movie was nothing that I expected it to be... After the first 30 minutes I was wondering where the hell it was going. I continued to appreciate the wonderful narrative as the story unfolded, still curious how on earth it would all come together.
The truth is I was expecting this just to flop, it just got a little weirder the more I watched. Then things started to fall into place, a picture was emerging, and it was beginning to become clear in that way that makes you shout out your rational at the screen.
Dammit, this movie had me guessing pretty much too the end... And this is a great thing in my opinion. Not to many frills, just a nice story that leads you though with an provides nice surprises....
Interstellar (2014)
All sorts of yes....!
OK so over the past few months I've been annoying my fiancée with sci-fi movies.... I've just wanted to see a good movie, something that makes me go wow... Needless to say she has not been too impressed at this.
She has tolerated everything, even pretended to enjoy movies for my benefit. I had taken it too far though ! Soon I was hearing "oh god, not another sci-fi"... I had to redeem myself. Interstellar was the last one, I knew after this it would be girlie dramas and romances all the way, OK she is not that bad, but my time with trying to find a good sci-fi was up....
We visited an IMAX cinema in Bangkok, sat down waiting for the movie. Everything was riding on this. If I was ever to watch another sci-fi with my love next to me, this one had to deliver....
Im not going to spoil the movie, but I can happily report that I am still with my fiancée and this was, by far, one of the greatest Scci-fi's made. I thought it was going to be another predictable run of the mill film, but no... thoroughly enjoyed it...
Go to the cinema to watch this movie, the big screen, surround sound absolutely bloody awesome.
The World Before Her (2012)
This is a must watch Documentary
So, I had my doubts about the content of this film. Nether the less I watched it. The movie stimulated many thoughts and emotions, it provided a very interesting look at the options and choices of the women of India.
More than this though it displayed the human condition from extreme view points. The film re-enforcing the fact that as human being we tend to place judgements on situations and people without ever truly knowing the environmental conditions creating them.
I highly recommend this film, what ever part of society one comes from this film has something to offer in opening the mind.
Waking Life (2001)
A must watch movie, beautiful dialogue
I saw this movie for the first time in 2006, I recently watched it again in 2014 and still think I have many more viewings to go.
Its just a beautiful story held together with the most amazing interactions and dialogue. This truly is a movie that will open a persons mind and let a little glimpse of something else in. Its very rare for me to actually enjoy a movie these days, everything seems to be over the top special effects and animation with no story.
Im happy to say this is refreshingly the other way around... Watch this movie with a joint in hand and good friends... There will be conversation until well after the credits...
Contracted (2013)
I would have enjoyed myself more if I had been peeling my own eye balls and throwing salt onto the open wounds.
Its difficult to accidentally write a spoiler on a film that was born in feces, lived its life feces and died in feces.
Acting non-existent, plot non-existent, special effects budget must have been collected from tin cups at the side of the road. I'm all for creativity but this film displayed none.
Trying to shock people by being revolting just doesn't work. If you had a good film you wouldn't need to resort to such mindless nonsense.
I took the time to watch the film all the way to the end so I could write a review from my heart. The only good thing about this film is that is stimulated enough creativity in me too want to actually write a review on it....
Bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, at least have a coherent plot for a film....
Chef (2014)
The only people voting on this film must have invested interests.
No story, bad acting, about as interesting as watching paint dry on a prison fence. What on earth were people thinking by voting on this. You may as well go outside and give your money away.
One of the worst movies I've seen in a long time...
The story is just so very dull all the way through the movie, you just keep waiting and waiting for something, ANYTHING, to happen. Finally the only part that actually got me excited and jumping with joy, the credits. This movie really goes to show how the media industry is filled with manipulation and propaganda.
Its easy to see how a centralized media monopoly is controlling the visual vomit, stuffing it into the heads of people and making them pay for the privilege. What next, a film of grass growing with a star rating of 10.
