Ditch Please (2014)
Good Weekend Watch
Ditch please (2014) is a 36 min independent movie by GSK which, at the face of it, hinges on the turmoils of the heart between Gagan Shiv Kumar (Kafeel Jafri) and Karishma Gupta (Prachi Jain Raman).
The movie sets a good pace from the moment Gagan takes off his shades and it continues to keep us engrossed. The locations are earnest and they help maintain the tone as the story unfolds. The script doesn't fall short and seamlessly goes from one scene to the next. The actors have diligently tried to get into the skin and have been successful. The soundtrack grows on you and anyone would love to listen while driving...oops, I mean riding.
The movie would connect with many people on a personal level. It aims to extract sympathy, laughter and a raised eyebrow at times; But it is Gagan who takes all our positive emotions. Like many Bollywood protagonists, Gagan is portrayed without imperfections, to the point that one would wonder why was he ever in a relationship with Karishma, who seems to have noteworthy limitations. GSK seems to have a fair understanding of human nature that can be seen in dialogues but lacks a little in characterization. GSK has done a better job of directing than acting. His response to repugnant verbal abuse is appallingly mellow. And finally the audience are left to crave for more picturesque backgrounds.
But one cannot deny the fact that GSK has matured as a director and we can look forward to more of his work.
