The Last Stop in Yuma County (2023)
If Hitchcock and Quintin had a baby....
Excellent characterization and set ups! I'm so happy to see good writing that doesn't insult my intelligence. Like any good fiction, nothing is wasted and everything makes sense. What would you do if you were trapped with a violent bank robber at a rest stop cafe in the middle of the desert with no gas or cell phones? You'd do what most in this cafe did!
This is a wonderful love letter to Hitchcock and the era of punchy grindhouse thrillers he made famous. So if you like Hitchcock or Tarantino stylized spaghetti thrillers, you'll love this gem. There are even a few Easter eggs for anyone who is familiar with this genre made famous in the 60's and 70's. See if you can find them. Highly recommended.
Togo (2019)
Real inspiring story the bond and trust between a man and his dog
Whether you love dogs or not, this story will inspire you. Defoe does an amazing job as the main character (does this guy ever age?) and really shows his love for the lead dog Togo. The Alaskan tundra acts as the third character and its majestic views are worth the 2 hours alone. Great movie for the family and not too sad (happy-ish ending). Bravo Disney!
