Are We There Yet? (2005)
Love this movie
First of all, Ice Cube has got to be one of my favorite actors, I think he's sometimes overlooked for some great parts. He was perfect for this movie. Sometimes it's hard to find a good family movie that isn't animated...but this is one! There is some comedy and some moments in the move that tug your heart strings, all in all, LOVE IT! Whenever it's "on demand" my kids watch it all day long, and I really don't get too tired of it. Great casting, especially love Ice Cube and the 2 kids...all very talented. The movie is about a "player" kind of guy who falls for a divorced mother of two...the antics between Ice Cube and her kids are fantastic as he does the mom a favor to get her kids somewhere. And somewhere along the way, he learns whats really important in his life and what his life is missing.
Free Willy (1993)
more than meets the eye
I see I am in good company, after reading some of the reviews listed here. And I am glad to know that not everyone in the world is heartless. First, let me comment on the movie, or be it now, movies. I love these movies. The lead character, Jesse, is one you can just fall in love with. THe actor who plays him has done a wonderful job. as have all the actors in all these movies. And the scenery is magnificent. It's hard to believe that there is such beauty in this world. I read that the real "Willy" has died, as a result of people freeing him, after being captive for so many years. Heartbreaking. When you watch these movies it gives you a good feeling. I like movies that make me feel something. Someone commented about there being no family movies on the IMDb listings, that people aren't interested in films unless the have sex, drugs, violence. I think that's true to a point. Now that I have kids, it has opened up another world of movies to me that I probably wouldn't have seen otherwise. Another reason to be thankful for my children for teaching me something. Watch these movies, you will love them.
The Doodlebops (2004)
Not too bad
At first I didn't like the Doodlebops, but after watching a few times I am started to like it. My kids are getting something out of it. They have some good messages in the show. IE. not being scared of the dark, getting along, etc. It's nice and upbeat and moves along quickly. I think it will catch on. SOmeone said that it didn't have originality and took some things from Captain Kangaroo and other shows, but I don't think that's relevant as my kids and I am sure most out there have not seen or even heard of those shows. I say, if it works, it works. I hope you give it a fair shot like I did, I think it will catch on. I think it's a good way to start our day off and get moving.
