A romanian old man goes downtown to call his son in US from a public phone...

This movie doesn't say much. It's a mixture of making fun of poor neighborhoods and old people that haven't kept up with technology. The acting is poor, the ending is TOO long (half the movie) and too boring.

As the man walks down the street talking to his neighbor, you can notice the hall-echoes in the recorded voices, though the characters are outside, so that again isn't a good point.

And that answering machine! NOBODY would record such a long message! There are different voices and last names for different languages! So stupid! I think this movie was supposed to be sad. Well, it is... but not in the intended way.

Mihai fells in love with Cristina and decide to invite her out, but things get off the road...

Many teenagers easily fall in love with a classmate and often dream about how the first date with him/her will be. In most cases they imagine an innocent walk through the park and a shy kiss, but sometimes the reality gives you something else, something that you've never thought would happen or something you've never thought you're capable of doing. This practice rather than theory is what builds up the experience, and the experience is what teaches you to think again about the real face of people or the meaning of a certain thing in a certain situation. You'll get my last phrase when you'll see the movie.

The sound track, although a little bit overloaded, contains well-picked pieces of nice music (like Lhasa, Manu Chao or Perez Prado) that fit the moment. Also, during the film, (too) many signs (body language mostly) are there to point out the real thing behind the appearance.

It was a good choice to make this film in black and white.
