Talk to Me (2022)
When kangaroos and purgatory collide
Sure thing, my bad. Here's the revised version:
So, "Talk to Me" had me on edge. It was so scary that I hesitated to step into my own kitchen after watching it, and that's saying something. I'd give it an 8/10 on the scary movie scale for sure.
But you know what really got me thinking? The whole concept of purgatory they dived into. It's not something you see often in films or hear about in the real world, but it's the scariest idea of what happens after we kick the bucket - just endless nothingness and potential evil lurking. That concept is spine-chilling.
Now, I gotta be real, the acting in the movie was kinda blah. And that kangaroo part? I mean, come on, we get it, you're Australian, but it felt out of place. I was hoping for a backstory about that mysterious hand too, like, did it make 'em high or something? It's the little details, you know?
But when I think about it creatively, that whole endless nothingness in purgatory is a mind-boggling concept. It's what had me hooked. The execution could've been better, no doubt, but the idea itself was cool and kept me engaged.
So, all in all, I'd say it's an 8/10. If I were creating that movie in my head, I'd probably focus more on the endless void of purgatory, but as an actual film, it had its flaws. But hey, it's worth a watch for that concept alone.
Air (2023)
Nostalgia , Respect , and Chicago Pride .. Thank you Goats
I grew up in the 90s. For those who didn't Michael Jordan was represented at minimum 5% of an era and 10% of Chicago. I respect Ben and Matt even more as filmmakers after this.
It was the story every fan of MJs had an idea of, but didn't know the whole story of. I didn't know who the story of Sony who is every bit a sports legend as Michael. If Michael wasn't already great Him and Nikes head of basketball Sonny played by Matt Damon changed the lives of so many athletes giving them the right to collect money on their name which changed the lives of so many families.
The idea came from another legions .. Doris Jordan, Michael's Mother sho refined Michaels First Contract which gave him a piece of revenue for every Air Jordans ever sold anywhere in the world. It turned out to be a great deal for both of them considering Nike brings in 400 billion a year just on their Air Jordan line.
The Air Jordan story focuses less on Mike snd more on mikes team who were all legends and goats I. Their own way. The story shows that Mike wasn't the only one determined to go down in history as the greatest of all time.
Michael Jordan will and always will be the greatest. Basketball player of all time but what makes him the greatest athlete of. All time came with a lot of assistance from. The Nike team.
" a shoe is just a shoe until someone's steps it to it"
In this is instance that person was Michael Jordan and from that day forward the Air Jordans were a symbol and still a re a symbol of greatness.
Thank you Michael for defining my childhood and never stop being the goat.
Film 9.5 / 10
Mike 10/10 Goated.
The Last Kingdom (2015)
From Corny Catch Phrase - to one of my goat shows
Okay one... if you go into this show blind there is no question when he says " this is ulththred king of ulthred your gonna wanna laugh and turn it off..... don't! From 3 minutes to the last scene this show is just pure gold. The acting , action , writing , carefree plot between historically real and fantasy with out being over the top like thrones makes it very original.
So many people want to compare Vikings and last kingdom and just .... Don't. Lol. They are both masterpieces in their own way. The vague based on actual events makes it complex but not overly complex that you'll make the die hard historians lose their minds on inaccuracies which you can't say about Vikings. Ulthred , Bria , leofric, Guthrem, King Alfred , father beocca , we're just sooo phenomly casted and put everything into their roles. This shows just awesome and if you get stuck in a binge your imagination makes ya feel like a kid Again.
Anyways can't hype this show up enough
It's a 9.999999 just because of the corny "I am Ulthred king of babaham." "Destiny is all"
Other than that hard 10 watch it.
Im Westen nichts Neues (2022)
I mean it's brutal and depressing ... great but yeah
A lot of originality , good action and impeccable realism. They did something different with this film. Let's be real this thing just hit you different. I'm a war buff especially when it comes to WW1 and II There wasn't a huge score maybe not one at all, there wasn't over the top special effects, the acting wasn't brave heart. It was just pure gorilla trench warfare. If your ever having Bad day think about what it was like at 18 years old deciding between losing your toe from frostbite or walking it off and risking an instant headshot. No food, no warmth, death everywhere, just real solid unapologetic war.
I want to give the director a shoutout for a really cool event also. They do a montage in the beginning of the film showing the young German men ready to go serve their country. And as the smile of the prewar starts to fade and the real world hits them they show the same thing happening with fresh uniforms going into battle and slowly being taken off dead soldiers to be recycled and cleaned and given back to the proud young soldiers and that cycle is as true to the montage as it was to the entire war.
It's just uncut real war. I didn't even feel like I was watching a movie when it started and once it was over I felt felt broken in my soul. That doesn't take away from its brilliance though. Def a masterpiece.
Flack (2019)
Ray Donovan for feminist
This show is literally ray Donovan. They didn't even change the headline. The first episode is a shot for shot of the pilot of ray.
Daybreak (2019)
Holy woke !
I liked the show because apocalypse TV and movies are the best. I also miss being young and like to keep up with the kids. That being said .... are you frickin kidding me with the PC crap. I mean gender neutral homecoming royalty , an app to agree to sex consent, and full blown open mouth gay make out sessions ( it's gross when anyone does that)
Being PC seems like a full time job for kids these days. It was interesting how much the show went out of its way to show how "woke" they were while also hammering stereotypes down everyone's throat. The QB and running back in a secret gay relationship ... never heard that one before. The jocks , the nerds, the gamers, the Asians, all blasted with stereo types.
The writing, cinematography, and filmmaking was very creative so it kept the show enjoyable but there is no way in hell everyone wants the PC garbage slammed down their throats. I'm still giving the show an 8 because what I mentioned above out ranked the wokeness. But please Hollywood stop with this you've already ruined comedy please don't ruin every genre of tv and film.
Swearnet (2014)
For Trailer Park Boys Fans
*** May Contain Spoilers
This movie is def not for minors, and you have to take it for what it is. When I can laugh by myself its a different type of comedy. Rob, Mike, John, and Patrick show us a different side of their Trailer Park Boy alter egos and made for a great 100 minutes of comedy.
Seeing Mike Smith playing himself was fantastic, I always wondered what kind of person was under those goofy goggles and he gave us a chance to see that. I loved how Mike, and Rob played polar opposites of themselves but Patrick and John basically played there Trailer Park Boy personalities, but in a more realistic scenario.
The scene where the boys trip acid literally had me in tears. This film proved that the fantastic minds that brought us Trailer Park Boys will not be one hit wonders, as long as they stick to their genre of comedy.
The only reason I am giving this 8/10 instead of 10/10 is because Tom Green and Carrot Top are terrible. I understand the casting budget was low, but I really hope I never see them on the screen again in my life. Their acting for forced laughs was unbearable. I'd much rather see Leigh Macinnis (Don) in more films, then have to put up with them again.
John, Mike, and Rob keep up the good work, i'm looking forward to seeing what else you guys come up with!
