Irish Wish (2024)
Bad Acting
The idea is cute enough (nothing new, but sweet). However, the acting sounds like a high school play. There is zero chemistry between any of the romantic partners. The plot doesn't build, it's just dropped in your lap. When the equivalent of the fairy godmother shows up it's as cheesy as a made-for-TV Disney movie. I can't figure out what happened to LL. Her face is different, her voice is different. She doesn't have her sweet quirkiness. If I didn't know it was her, I would have no idea this was the same actress from Mean Girls and. Freaky Friday. I realize that we all grow up, but her acting was flat in this film.
Alba (2021)
Unbelievable plot and unrelatable characters
There are some great actors with impressive credentials in this series but that's the only reason I'm sticking around. Well, that and the fact that I miss Alicante so it's nice to see the setting!
***MAJOR SPOILERS***
These are the reasons I couldn't get carried away by the storyline (in no particular order):
1. Bruno's "friends" never saw a picture of his girlfriend? Ever? They've never met even though they're from the same town and travel in circles that cross paths???
2. Alba continues to live with Bruno after she sees the video? Just...no. The "reasoning" for this is flimsy at best.
3. Miriam and Toño are happily married despite their vast psychological/neurological differences.
4. A woman who has been intimidated, bullied, and controlled by her husband/boss for so long suddenly is a powerhouse Boss Lady?
5. Mercedes kills her father in law after hearing that the will was changed in her favor?? That's exactly the opposite of an understandable reason for murder.
6. Bruno didn't beat his "friends" to a pulp at any of the 1,000 opportunities he had to do so.
7. Mercedes's reaction to her son participating in a gang rape? Especially knowing that she went from meek to powerful overnight!
8. Hugo knew Alba's email address????
9. Seeing one guy drove past in a balaclava is enough for Alba not show the video to the Guardia Civil.
10. Possibly least believable at all - Adriana Ozores let them do THAT to her hair??!!?!!?
The Help (2011)
A must see
As entertaining as it is educational, thought-provoking, and heart-wrenching. The Help is a must see for everyone - regardless of your age, gender, or race.
Elvis (2022)
Austin Butler deserves an Oscar!
He was so utterly believable as Elvis that, at times, I couldn't tell if I was watching real footage or acting. He took on the role so completely that even the movements of his fingers matched Elvis's performances.
Doctor Foster (2015)
Gritty. Depressing. But ends with a life lesson.
The first season, I completely sympathized with Gemma and was rooting for her. I. Season 2, I feel like she went way overboard. However, keep an eye on Tom the whole time. I think the show does a great job of reminding us who the real victims are when parents fight. There is a proverb that says that when two elephants fight, it's the grass that suffers. They do a great job of illustrating this as Tom's character develops.
Sweet Girl (2021)
Aquaman + Dora + Plot Twist!!
It's not the best movie you've seen in your life but stick around for the plot twist! Straight-to-DVD quality production and dialogue but great chemistry between Momoa and. Moner.
Hasta que la boda nos separe (2020)
Adorable
I love the banter. Adrián Lastra and Belén Rueda had me in stitches with their fast talking jokes!
Tiempos de guerra (2017)
How will it end?
The great thing about European shows is that a happy ending isn't guaranteed. There's more of an emotional investment when you truly don't know if the heroine is going to survive or if the guy will get the girl. Enjoy the ride!
Goltzius and the Pelican Company (2012)
Torture
I really think this could replace water boarding. I know they were going for artistic but they accidentally landed on...odd.
Jumanji: The Next Level (2019)
My face hurts
I seriously had sore cheeks after watching this movie! Hilarious!!!
