King Kong (2005)
Fantastic
This totally blew the 1933 film out of the water. Peter Jackson has done an amazing job. The special effects were brilliant and the acting was superb. Who ever knew that Jack Black could expand beyond comedy? Naomi Watts was a stunning Ann Darrow, and played the role in a more personal way than scream queen Fay Wray. One of the best films of the year, by far. I loved how Jackson expanded the story, to allow the audience to get to know Kong better and to see the connection that Ann had to Kong. This film is simply a must see and one of the best films of the year. All of the acting was excellent, particularly Naomi Watts, who gave depth and personality to a character who before did not have much.
Batman Begins (2005)
Excellent, Fantastic Movie
I have to admit, I was a little apprehensive entering the movie theater to see this movie. I left feeling awed and wowed. This was an incredibly well done movie. It was believable and had a storyline that people could relate to. This was not a cartoon like the other movies. This was Batman. I loved this movie and would strongly recommend for people to see it. All of the actors were superb, particularly Christian Bale, Katie Holmes, and of course Michael Caine. It was an extraordinary cast, and each lent their own unique role to the movie. The movie was believable. There were no comical villains or cheesy lines. The technology was real and was not fake movie technology.
Living with Fran (2005)
Looking forward to watching more, not that bad
I am looking forward to watching more of Living with Fran. Its not that bad. Fran seems to be a little out of place in this role, not being able to exhibit her New York, Jewish themes that made The Nanny such a hit. I was almost expecting Sylvia "Ma" Fine to be at the door or on the phone. And I missed Niles and CC. Charles Shaughnessy as a guest was great. He naturally fit in and for a minute it seemed like it was a continuation of The Nanny. Ben Feldman is very good and witty. Misti Traya is excellent as Allison and offers great commentary. Ryan McPartlin's acting is almost nonexistent and just as the show promotes, he is simply the good looking young guy. The relationship between him and Fran is very unrealistic, its almost forced. Fran and Charles on The Nanny had a very good on screen presence, as opposed to Riley, who is very wooden. Hopefully, he will learn from the comic genius that is Fran Drescher and become a great actor. I have faith in this show, it just needs time.
