The Terminal List (2022)
Tell write served
It isn't Casablanca, but if you just want an entertaining show that keeps your focus it is great.
Don't listen to the pretentious critics or those triggered by anything Chris Pratt does.
The critics are just showing how irrelevant their job has become due to bias.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
What a mess
I'm glad I waited for this to be free on Disney+
This thing is such a mess. The CG is wonky, the Directing feels inconsistent, and the acting is robotic.
The America Chavez actress needs work. I'm sure she's a nice kid but she is constantly either over acting or awkwardly trying to act against special effects that are made in editing.
It is right up there with the 2nd Thor movie.
Turning Red (2022)
Meh
It is probably a fine movie if it speaks to you, but it has a very specific audience. That audience being women who rebelled against their mother's cultural norms to go their own way.
It just had nothing for myself, I was bored and stuck it out for my kids. Thankfully I had my phone for entertainment.
The Last Kingdom (2015)
A fitting end
I'm sorry to see it is over.
This is a great show that is well written with solid characters.
I was nervous after watching the Vikings: Valhalla, they ruined that show with jamming in identity politics that was unnatural and forced.
Last Kingdom has strong women who are strong because they've lived a hard life that has forged them like steel. They introduced a new black character but his angle wasn't "I'm black so people don't like me" because that is a simple trope. His flaw is that he was a proest with a gambling problem, a universal flaw that made him relatable to anyone. I thought he was a great addition and I didn't feel likevI was being lectured about modern problems while escaping to a fantasy world for entertainment.
I see a spin off in the future, I jist hope they don't ruin it like the Vikings spin off.
Vikings: Valhalla (2022)
Bit of a let down
I LOVED Vikings, so i was excited for this series.
Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the original. The writing was a little weak. The story wasn't very compelling. The acting was okay, but I never really cared about any of the characters.
Netflix may of played a part, because the identity politics mandates were obvious. Vikings had some incredibley strong women because they faught and plotted just as hard as any of the male characters. Lagatha was the badest ass warrior on the block but they never had to force it down your throat.
I think this could have been goid, but it feels like it was written by a committee and unnatural in comparison.
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 3: The Streets of Mos Espa (2022)
Attack of the space hipsters
The Vespa chase was completely ridiculous. I've been defending the shows slow start and mirroring of the Spaghetti Western model, but that was hard to defend.
Here's to hoping for the future episodes.
The Book of Boba Fett (2021)
Solid Meh, which is sad
It is what it is. It isn't as good as Mandalorian but it's not as bad as the sequel trilogies
It's not unwatchable, but it's not must watch either.
Solud meh.
The Sparks Brothers (2021)
Band I loved but didn't know
I had no idea they had such an influence on more well known artists. I loved their stuff in the 80's but felt like I was the only one.
I really appreciated that they included interviews with so many other artists talking about their influence.
Eternals (2021)
Watching was like a bad date; just waiting for end
The scenery was very pretty but the color palate was very very drab.
Unfortunately, it was very boring and a Marvel movie should never be boring. I never cared about any of the characters even though all the dialogue was written to make you care. Parts of the movie felt like some of the extended melancholy moments of a Lord of the Rings movie, but without the wordless action to move the plot along. It was LONG, by the end it felt like a bad date you just wanted to end.
What If...?: What If... T'Challa Became a Star-Lord? (2021)
WTF
This episode was complete and utter garbage.
I love the T'Challa character and Star Lord. This "What if" robs both of their heroes journey.
T'Challa was is a complex character who fought the desire for revenge while knowing his father would not approve. Trying to find his place in a world he's never experienced.
This garbage basically says that T'Challa's presence alone was enough to turn the Ravengers from yankee trader capitalists to kind hearted Socialists. He changed the galaxy and Thanos using only the power of optimism.
Just plain stupid.
Free Guy (2021)
So good, better than expected
This was just a fun lighthearted show. Combi8of a ROM COM and action.
It was funny with a good story. Definitely a must see.
Masters of the Universe: Revelation (2021)
Not the show I knew
Saw it advertised on NETFLIX after watching Anime with my kids.
Not the TV show I remember. It lacked the charm, warmth, and optimism of the show I knew. The voice acting is really bad, at least the first episode. I watched the first episode and won't watch the rest.
The Tomorrow War (2021)
Fun ride
I went in with no expectations but had fun. It was a little predictable, but it was nice to watch a movie that was just for entertainment.
Chad (2021)
Wow
I feel sorry for kids named Chad after watching that thing.
United States of Al (2021)
They're trying
The show has potential. It's obvious that they have veterans on the writing staff. The concepts are more refined than most military themed shows. The canned laughter is annoying but understandable in the COVID environment that doesn't allow studio audiences. I hope it survives to fix the flaws, but it's in a tough spot.
