Sweet but not like the original. Good message on race and diversity.
22 March 2022
JD will always be JD. Sweet film - some jokes land but not going to change the world or even come close to the Steve Martin version. Kids cute and nice message on race in a multi-racial family and the difficulty of understanding what the other side goes through. I'm sure that will trigger people.

Get past it and it's a nice Saturday matinee - not going to change the world.

Fantastic
13 June 2021
What an enjoyable and brilliant show. Clarkson is classic Clarkson but with real heart. The show gives you a real insight into what farmers go through - during normal times and during a pandemic - and will give you a real appreciation for the work that they put in to putting food on your table.

Go watch it!

Show's what a low budget can really get you!
8 February 2021
Was so excited for this due to Kim Tae-Ri's breathtaking performance on the iconic KDrama series, Mr Sunshine and she didn't disappoint. If anything deserved to be on the big screen, it was this - shows what $24million can actually get you in terms of effects. The character development takes time, but as is the way with a kdrama or korean film, the character development is a bit of a rollercoaster ride - but if drags you and in and you become so invested in their journey. Hope people give it a go and aren't put off by the captions. This is a really enjoyable watch.

Ignore the reviews - this is enjoyable

If you like Futurama, Rick and Morty etc you'll like this. It's an easy watch and will appeal to every one. There are some good Treky jokes too. Tawny Newsome from Space Force is the stand out star here. Jack Quaid from the Boy's is great too. Watch a couple of episodes and I'm sure you'll like it.

Magnificent!

I'd like my heart back please!

What an incredible drama - let alone a kdrama! Each episode is shot like a blockbuster movie, the cast are superb and the story captivates you from start to finish. That it's based on historical events, makes it all the more painful sometimes.

The the five main characters are superb and you love them throughout and become so invested in their stories.

At 24 episodes this is a lot longer that the usual kdrama and sometimes the pace may seem a little slower than what we're used to in the West - however the investment of your time pays off in spadeas.

I'm not going to mention anything about the plot as I strongly urge you to watch this.

Quite possibly the K Drama of the year! Must watch!
8 December 2020
If you love Kdrama - watch Start-Up If you've never watched a KDrama - watch Start-Up

This was one of the most enjoyable tv shows I've watched. The writing is excellent. The production is top notch. The crew are all superb.

I'm not going to reveal any details here except to encourage you to give this a try. You'll laugh, you'll cry, be inspired, cry a little more, have your heart ripped out... and the put back in bigger and stronger than before. All of which is perfectly contained within 16 episodes.

Suzy Bae is excellent as always and brilliantly support by the other leads; Nam Joo-Hyuk, Sun-ho Kim and Han-na Kang. You'll also fall in love with the granny.

Truly wonderful. Think I may rewatch when my heart has recovered.

Enjoy

Ted Lasso (2020–2023)

Ted Lasso is the TikTok of TV - it's addictive and will make you feel good!
2 October 2020
If you're expecting a Jason Sudeikis style silly comedy then this will be a surprise. Without a doubt one of the best shows I've seen in a long time. Not sure if it's the pandemic effect, but Ted Lasso has so much heart and all delivered in a clever and beautiful way that you can't help but feel like the tv is giving you a hug.

Some of the humour is of a more adult nature but you cant help but root for Ted - even if he's a better looking Ned Flanders!

All the characters play their part and tell a lovely story.

My only negative is that not enough people know about it due to it being on Apple TV Plus - hopefully, that will change with AppleOne as season two is much needed.

Brilliant TV - please try and watch it. It will give you hope in humanity. I may just go and watch it for the third time.

TV perfection - you'll feel all the emotions but so cathartic
27 August 2020
Binged 22hrs of TV perfection in 4 days! The message is so important and if you strip away some of the KDrama eccentricities, we can all relate to the pain these characters went through, the effects on their mental health and (spoiler alert) how they found healing. I really related to the one of the male leads in how he sacrificed his happiness to look after his brother - all apart from his ridiculous good looks.

I strongly recommend watching it and if you've never watched a Kdrama before here's my breakdown of what to expect: Episodes 1-3: what is going on? But... I'm falling in love with the female lead (Seo Ye-Ji) Episode 4: First cry. OK I'm invested now and I'm in love with the female lead. Episodes 5-13: You'll laugh, cry and repeat. Also who needs sleep! Same feelings about the female lead Episode 14: I don't want this to end Episode 16: WOW!

Special mention to the actor Jeong-se Oh who plays the autistic character Sang Tae. - what a performance! Incredible acting.

In these dark 'rona times, we need a show like this. Stick with it - you wont be disappointed. Did I mention I was in love with the female lead?

The original is better but a nice film... and Red Velvet is in it briefly!
21 May 2020
Only rented because of Red Velvet (kpop group) and that I the original was a surprisingly good film. This is not as good but still enjoyable for all ages, with some stunning visuals. Maybe I should have waiting till it dropped from £15.99 to £4.99

What have I just watched? 😳
9 May 2020
Just weird! Not for children!! Why give Beverly strong leadership roles, eg when she captained the Enterprise in Decent 1&2 only to give her (& Gates McFadden) so a weird and weak episode. The 2/10 rating is for the last 60 seconds when we see the strong Dr Crusher we're used too. One of the weaker TNG episodes. You can skip this one.

K Drama at it's best
16 March 2020
Only on episode 10/16 but WHAT A SHOW! Only started watching because Tae-hyung (V) from BTs wrote a song for one of the episodes but now I'm hooked. Coming of the back of Crash Landing on You, I didn't think anything else could be that good (my first K Drama that I'd watched from start to finish) but this is equally brilliant in different ways. The Netflix trailer does not elude to the twists and turns, not the solid character of the lead. It has heart, laughs, suspense and twist in spades. Don't let the subtitles put you off - this is a great story - MUST WATCH!

The perfect love story - no need for season 2
1 March 2020
What a wonderful rollercoaster of a show! You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll even laugh and cry!. Beautifully written - great story and a great cast. Son Ye-jin stands out as the incredible lead as does Hyun Bin as the almost Jack Bauer esq. hero. In fact, the series has a bit of a 24 feel to it for some reason - but one with a lot of heart. The contrast between North and South Korea is like chalk and cheese, but also eye-opening to life in the North and I think they treated it very respectfully. Can't recommend it enough - don't let the subtitles put you off!

I tried - but an epside and a half was all I could manage!
15 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
OK let's start with the positives - the island that The I-land is stunning!

So that's out of the way! This is not good - the script and direction are poor and the key characters hate each other from the get go! Why so angry? What happened to team work makes the dream work?!

Unnecessary!

Why Netflix why? Feels like a cheesy setup to a Psych episode
21 July 2019
Wanted to like this. Wanted to hope that the trailer didn't reveal everything. Wanted to hope that it used the might Dennis Haysbert to his full potential and show the range that Brenda Song has in there.

But it didn't!

At least it's only 90 minutes long...

It's the best Spidey film and dare I say it, the best MCU film of the year! Go see it!
2 January 2019
Where do I begin with this film? I'll keep it brief: Hopefully zero spoilers! Let's start with the visuals - Sony have taken the game forward with this animation! It's breathtaking, beautiful and really is like you're watching a living comic book. It's visually stunning and defines the quality of this film from outset. Even the dots on the screen to represent the comic book style - amazing!

The story is so good and does justice to bring the Miles Morales story to the fore. Mixing the characters from the multiverse is done so well - all lovable given the right amount of screen time respectively.

It's genuinely funny - if no one laughs when you watch it then it's probably the zombie apocalypse - the jokes are heartfelt and honest. That's not to say that this film doesn't have the feels - it does - but used in the right way.

Finally - the music. We all know Post Malone is a genius and this soundtrack is epic - better than Kendrick Lamar's Black Panther - and used so well throughout the film.

This ia a wonderful film that will make you fall in love with or reaffirm your love for Spiderman while at the same time introducing Miles Morales as the future of the Spider-verse.

Stay for both post-credit scenes - worth it. Also look out for Stan Lee's cameo in the film - emotional.
