The Brady Bunch Movie (1995)
I totally laughed out loud
I kept seeing clips of this movie from tumblr and I thought they were pretty hilarious so I thought I would check out the movie. I have no knowledge of the TV series, nor would I be interested in it but despite not knowing the show, the movie is awesome, kinda.
Of course, there are some problems, 1. it's dated, 2. the acting is terrible 3. some of the characters are really dull 4. the plot is so thin and predictable 5. some of the subplots are really stupid. The whole subplot of where the younger sister is always being a nark, it gets kind of old...okay, so there are a lot of problems but I enjoyed it.
The best parts of the whole movie is with Jan; her reaction with the voices in side her head and always against Marsha...it's definitely interesting to watch. sadly, Jan maybe the only related character; outcast with sibling rivalry dealing with her insecurities. The other characters are just too...out there...
If you're bored and looking for something that will have your attention, this is a movie to watch. It has some goods parts that are worth viewing.
Legally Blonde (2001)
Go watch the musical
the musical is so much better, flows so much smoother. In the musical, Elle is definitely clueless when she gets to harvard; in the film, she is clueless throughout the entire thing. Plus, it is so obvious they took the scenes from the musical and tried to make something original out of it...which is a terrible idea when the musical is perfect in the first place.
the whole dinner scene at the beginning went on for far too long - __-and it felt awkward, kind of forced as well. (and where the concept worked in the musical, it did not translate well into film) I also hate how they tried to change the lines from the musical into the film, but only slight, like a seventh grader changing up some lines to an essay he clearly didn't write; at least come up with something original. I also can't believe they made the delta sister's unique. In the first twenty minutes, they show two distinct girls from Delta Nu...I understand the need to make characters unique but I feel like they don't really serve in any help in the plot of the film. Plus, I felt her motivation to certain things were a bit weak too. The musical does things a lot better.
If you are looking for something good to watch, watch the musical.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996)
Is it ...meh
It's not great but it isn't awful...I dare say it is forgettable. Like someone mentioned, it is a very mature theme, maybe too mature to be executed properly. How do you explain such raw hate toward a group of people except "Oh boy, the villain was evil, so he was filled with hate and ran the campaign for hatred". It's not that simple.
And not only that, but the characters were so plain (except the villain). The plot was alright. The o good vs evil.
If anything was good about it, it was definitely the villain: he was fun to watch, especially near the end when he went insane over the lust for Esmeralda. And I guess the animation was really good too. Definitely something that I could see today.
If you're looking for a Disney film to watch, I suggest skipping this one.
Sam & Cat (2013)
Why do people think combining two things is a good thing?
Yeah, sometimes it works but like 10% of the time. So, what's wrong with it:
1. for a show about babysitting, it is nothing about babysitting
2. I loved cat as a side character on victorious but she is just soooo annoyingly stupid on this show. Great side character, but not so much as a main character. And the whole gag with her is she might have autism.
3. as if Cat wasn't enough, we have another retarded idiot on the show. Seriously? I never thought Goomer was interesting, and maybe if he wasn't in it, the show would be stronger? I just seems weird that the whole gag with him is he's mentally retarded. Yet, every episode it is brought up again and again. We get it, quit beating the dead horse.
4. Is Sam really all that badass in this series? I just feel like something is lacking, but for such a role, I think she does an awesome job with it and has fun. I give her a B, mainly because there was not way her role was meant to play a main character.
5. if Dice is going to have great hair, make him hot. He just looks like a white kid with a afro.
A lot of these jokes are beat to death: Cat being native and stupid, Goomer is just retarded, Dice...idk, he's kinda bland, and Sam, probably the only whose character I actually liked a bit. But for such a role, she is still pretty static. (She was a lot better in iCarly, probably because she wasn't constantly taking care of Cat).
Thank god it's over but if I had any suggestions: either introduce another character or get rid of Cat. I actually think it would be interesting to see Jenette McCurdy have her own show. Dice, is fine but make him less bland. And Goomer, get rid of him or at least let him have a brain. seeing him act like that is seriously annoying. (I wonder if he regerets the role).
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013)
I'm sooo disappointed
There are a million things wrong with the show but mainly because the characters are all bland, not really relatable and am I the only one that kind of wants the bad guys to win?
Honestly, if it had been about a bunch of superheros fighting against evil bad guys, I would love that. Get thor, captain America, just let them fight and have really interesting scenes, etc. I would love that. Through, even the premise of this show is sort of interesting; but they didn't do enough with it.
Also, Coulson as a main character....There is a reason why there are such things as side characters: they are on the side helping support the main character on their journey. I mean, who even through it was a good idea to make him a main character? Was there a ton of fan-doms about him that the producers decided it was a good idea? apparently the actor is amazing but the role isn't all that interesting. I didn't really care for Coulson in the marvel series....
And then there is Skye. I think she had potential: hot geeky girl who gets recruited for shield and is stuck in the middle of this. I like her for the most part but why are they continually pushing to find her parents? We get it, she's a orphan but so are most of Disney princesses and they weren't that obsessed with finding their parents.
For the most part, it feels like an underdog story: a group of characters going against the world with everything against them. And it might have worked if the characters were fleshed out.
Pokémon Origins (2013)
Not my favorite but...
I've always been a fan of pokemon and I feel this is a good show. There are some strong points but on the other hand, I do feel it misses some points the original series had.
I've read some of the other reviews and some say they dislike pokemon saying their names. Honestly, I miss that. I don't know how it was for everyone but I did like pokemon saying their own names. It was what set pokemon apart from the other pocket monsters. I also felt like in a way, it gave the pokemon personally. I watched a bit of pokemon when the main character Dawn and it was fun watching Piplup and his struggles. Here, there is no development of pokemon or the characaters. They just seem to be the typical pokemon formula: having a rival who thinks he's better than you are. Then again, if we come from the perspective of just any person playing the game, it makes sense to have the bland character.
And it is better in some aspects: there is no team rocket and meowth. I always hated those parts. Ash was not great in the original series. He is quite annoying, and never seems to learn. Additionally, after the first season, pikachu becomes more and more boring. I didn't keep up with the original series but compared to that, this is pretty awesome.
Poketto monsutâ (1997)
I feel nostalgia for this show
butttt....it's gone down hill. If you want anything worth watching, go see season 1 and maybe some of season 2 but it's not great. I remember watching some of where Dawn, (5th generation of pokemon) came in and it was pretty bad. I was confused; they introduced a bunch of unnecessary elements: a beauty contest, etc.
I never really liked ash to begin with. I enjoyed this enthusiasm but he never learned from his mistakes, and the whole team rocket routine got really old after the third episode. why do they want to catch pikachu in the first place? there are plenty of other pokemon to try and capture, why pikachu? and their disguises were terrible. Yet it fooled ash and the team every single time. Also, I really enjoyed in Season 1 especially when they gave pokemon characters. One of my favorite episodes is the ghost one. It was both creepy and interesting. Plus, Pikachu was awesome.
Also, why is Brook still with them after so long? I understand if it was for one season but he comes back...kinda creepy. Also, the fact Ash is still ten...meh. I wish they aged him but since they are trying to reach to their younger audience, I guess?
I am still going to love pokemon but it is not a great show. Through, to anyone who wants to, seeing the first season is still worth it in my opinion.
Cinderella III: A Twist in Time (2007)
I was shocked...
How good it was. It was definitely a twist but beautifully done, and might had sled a few happy tears at the end. What I really enjoyed was they gave Cinderella more character, especially that part with her in the pumpkin. Not only is she kind and sweet but she was a bad ass side and didn't back down. Also, the react to the prince with the mice, I thought was dead on. I didn't care for the farce moments through but I'm not usually a farce person.
There are a few things I disliked but it is a Disney film. Most of them were nit-pick like why did the prince fall in love. They kept on saying they knew by the touch of the hand, which I don't understand. But it is a fairy tale. And I wish they developed the prince more. Through the major thing I thought was strange was why didn't the stepmother turn her step daughter into Cinderella look alike in the first place. It would seem the obvious choice. Otherwise, it's a great movie.
Sabrina the Teenage Witch (1996)
Sabrina is good
It's just good, not amazing. I did enjoy the series when I watched and I really missed TV shows like this, especially live action: the simplicity of it but also, what I love most of it is how relatable the show tries to be. Sabrina obviously isn't perfect, and she know she isn't but tries her best to be the best she is. It dives into some uncharted territory, even in today's standards. In one episode, it talked about what it means to be a non-witch in a witch community, or even a half witch. It's probably one of my favorite episodes. It's also inventive: what crazy Sabrina adventure are we in today? How will her magic totally backfire and how will she fix it?
On the other hand, it is a bit bland. Sabrina, I feel like the writers tried to give her a personality but it wasn't totally memorable but I feel like they were just trying to write the story about the typical teenager in this time, and in that sense, I thought they did a good job of. I like the Aunts also and I did feel when they left, the show kinda went down hill. I really enjoyed Roxy's and Miles' when they came in but later near the end of the show, they felt kinda flat. I also feel like the celebrity appearances I could do without...but they don't play a huge part of the show so I don't mind. Through, in the first few seasons, I wish they had less annoying side characters: the super smart and involved and the slightly ditsy, always trying to be popular one. Maybe they were trying something new, I'm glad but they were in the show for way too long.
I feel like the show is definitely worth a watch through. It isn't amazing but some elements they did really well. I feel like this is a great show to show kids now a days: it has great morals, great creativity. And Salem's laugh, hilarious every time.
