Incredibles 2 (2018)

A clever, must-watch summer-movie
19 June 2018
I just saw it and it's impressive. A crispy film, yet soft on the inside, it could be slapstick and heart-warming at the same time. If not, it did really take the superhero trend to the next level. If compared with Avengers or other animation, it really is incredible.

This movie somewhat reminds me of Captain America: Civil War, but between Elastigirl and Mr. Incredible. The script matured more than average superhero (e.g. Civil War) movie, despite being family movie, which is mostly watched by kids. How Elastigirl worried about people lives and trying to save them with minimal risks is the proof of how mature and how realistic the script was. Even I love the vocal quality of Elastigirl, it was raspy, hoarse, and deep. The vocal quality stressed girls aren't weak and can do what man can. The theme song was also enganging, as Disney always done. The reminisence of Donald Trump was funny in spite of that was a serious issues.

The technicality was excellent. I love how the panning in the early scene seems to 'blur' the view and make it more realistic. The sound effect was surrounding and the scoring was very fitting also add up the thrilling seasoning of the fight scene.

The pattern of Disney movies are guessable and always the same. But guess what, it never gets old. I knew from the start that who is the culprit. Who doesn't know? I mean Disney always do it right? Doctor Callaghan, Charles Muntz, Ernesto de la Cruz? The 'good guy' always turns out to be the 'bad guy' And my friend, that is exactly the power of Disney that always entertain us even with the same pattern all over and over.

You should watch this, no matter how old you are. Bring yor kids too. If they're girls, it will raise their moral about how girl can do anything too, but not radically as radical feminist. If they're boys, they will learn about appreciating their mom or appreciating your wife. And you adult, it'll teach you to prioritize otherselves before you, and push back your ego for a greater good.

In the end as Disney always told us, family comes first.

Not even binge-worthy as other Butterfield's movies
14 June 2018
I am not surprised with Butterfield character here because he keeps his typecast here (an awkward romantic guy who falls in love with girl who set him free). Not every guessable movies is bad after all...Butterfield had starred in many teenager movie such as X+Y, Mrs Peregrine, Ender's Game, etc. But,but,but...this movie is too cringeworthy, Gardner cheesy pick-up line, somewhat too made up, lack of chemistry, lack of characterization, lack of connection with audience.

It seems that the script was written by a high-school teenager who sent the story to a teen magazine. Too simple, lack of research and annoying scientific term (kinda weak and shallow science background). If movie was a piece of clothing, this would be a rag newspaper that has patches with unmatching colour. Take one plot hole, why Kendra adopt Tulsa for no reason and literally never interact before, or how Gardner seems to be like an alien who accidentally fell to Earth and never get to interact with normal people (e.g. cannot understand slang, etc.)

The scoring wasn't very bad, but not the kind of scoring we could always link to one specific scene. The special effect is fair for a mediocre movie (it seems their head is pasted to the space helmet, look carefully). To sum up, this is a movie that you see if you don't have any work at all (there's a lot better things you can do). I regret seeing this.

Gary Oldman is the main attraction and the bait
20 May 2018
I actually only go through three-quarter of this movie, I've decided this is way too dull. I've been reading some article about Oscar-baiting movies. This is definitely one of them. I'm not saying the movie is so bad, but I think, movie is an art, not a money-making machine. Right? Check up reviews and critics, they praise Gary's acting. Gary is the bait, right? I myself watch this movie because of him. His body transformation is unbelivable (but exaggertaed) and his mimicking, gesture, timbre is unique and need a lot of real work to achieve that level of acting. Talking about best actor, we could compare Oldman and Day-Lewis. Daniel had also played in Lincoln (2012) with similar role. Daniel is a lot more charismathic than Gary. Churcill wasn't a very likeable, either, like the one Gary played in this. Because this movie is all about Gary Oldman, and not Churcill, I think I'm going to end my review. Thank you.

A Great Farewell by Day-Lewis
17 May 2018
I have been a long-time fans of DDL, known for his 'method' acting style and of course his handsome face, nobody will deny he is a great actor. I have been a long-time fans of PTA too. PTA is a courageous director, because he keep exploring. I mean, look at his filmography, every movie of his is different from his other movie. Got it? Ok.

Suck us to the life of Reynolds Woodcock, this movie, like every good movies, has succeded in building the atmosphere of a dress-maker life and an artist obsession, and of course vintage era love story. It's immensely deserve that costume design Oscars, because that's what the movie talk about, isn't it? Of course they should win, they really enlive, with in-depth description, the life of a famous dressmaker.

It reminds me of Punch Drunk-Love (2002), PTA's first romance movie. But this is something different. With Reynolds' artistic obsession as a subplot, this movie still has the 'function' of a romance. Got it? Still touched us to the bottom of our heart the way Punch Drunk-Love or more notable movies like La La Land. With all of this humbleness, that feeling, of strucked, of touched.

Day-Lewis is amazing. He never ran out of aura, different aura from his other movies, let's say, Gangs of New York, There Will Be Blood. It takes different aura from this movie. Proving his capability of acting, Day-Lewis actually well-deserved for Oscars if there's no Gary Oldman in front of his way. Vicky Krieps, suprisingly mesmerizing and that she could build the chemistry with an older and talented actor is an achievement.

A very very must-watch movie, don't miss this beautiful farewell by Day-Lewis.

Dunkirk: Revolution or Flop?
22 December 2017
Dunkirk, to my opinion is the worst movie Nolan ever made. I put high expectation on this movie - but it's not good enough to fulfil my expectation after all. Dunkirk, is a revolution of storytelling. DUNKIRK is the main story, of course, but, instead of using the point of view from one side, this movie use overall DUNKIRK slate. There are three side of this movie. The formula Nolan try to use would be brilliant, IF the execution is precise. The execution of the main idea is somewhat blunt, boring, and tedious.

Positives: First, the tension built up consistently, fair and square to each story side Second, kept Nolan's trademark, philosophical narrative ending Third, no gruesome-gory-kind-of-war-movie-but-we-still-get-the-gist-of-war-situation

Negatives: First, BORING Second, RAW

The conclusion is, if you wanna see a new kind of movie, especially war movie then go see it at your own risk or if you are a big fan of Nolan (you will be either proud and disappointed) But if you are the kind of people who watch ding-dong kind of movie, then you should not watch this movie. This movie has been praised by the critics. But it DOES NOT guarantee the watchablity of Dunkirk.

As for me, I'm half and half. This is a flop revolution. 7/10

The Martian (2015)

The Best Movie I've Ever Seen
8 January 2016
I thought it was the best movie of 2015! I'm not overrating on this, but it's truly a genius movie. If a friend or someone ask me, "Do you find this movie is good? Do you recommend it?" I'll answer a hundred percent yes. Perfect cinematography (why did only r-scott, matt, and the editors who get the nominees, it's should've been the cinematography). I didn't read the book yet, i don't even know that there is the book of The Martian. But i thought it was amazing.

The film is very emotional, and Matt live it perfectly (i cried a lot) so if you guys are a sci-fi fan you have to watch it or you're wasting your time as a sci-fi fan (it's too much :P) It's the combination of drama that will make us like touched but also frightening sci-fi plot.

Yes, it's exactly to pick Ridley Scott, i mean he's a sci-fi 'god' look at his film! I complety NOT disappointed, satisfied, entertained, this is the best movie. One more, damn you R-Scott!

But this movie has one weakness, this movie took a quite long time to make the viewer figure out some thing, like SOL, in the beginning, i didn't understand what is it? It takes a quarter hour to figure out. Or it's just me who has a stinky brain :D

NB: Watch it, take my words, you'll NEVER regret my suggestion. Oh, don't watch it with kids under 13. First, they'll get bored, second, they don't understand, that's what makes them bored, Third, there's some brief scene when Mark Whatney butt shown.

Third Generation of 'Friends'
3 January 2016
Okay, so i think it's a quite good sitcom, they planned it to be the third generation of "Friends" sitcom. So the first generation was "Friends" itself, it was a very great success, and the second was "How I Met Your Mother" it was a big success as their upper generation, the third comes out in 2014, it's "Friend With Better Lives" it's a big deal for CBS to continue their success for 'plagiarizing' "Friends", it's very clear, because the three of it tell the story 'bout a group of friends!

Look carefully, both Joey in Friend and Barney in HIMYM are womanizer and in FWBL Kate is a manizer and many character are slighty the same. So it's an unsucces series in the generation, because maybe people think it's boring or somewhat. The rating is not increasing, so they think they should stop the sitcom.

I feel so sorry about you FWBL fans. NB : I didn't mean to mock Friends, HIMYM, or FWBL

Not better than Jurassic Park, but still a good movie
7 July 2015
The plot is average. But yes, like the other reviewer say, it's predictable movie. Because of that, we can't feel the tension from this movie like Jurassic Park because we know where this movie going to.

the animation must be using much good and expensive utilities. Still, the plot doesn't help much to make an excellent movie. This movie take a quite long time, you'd better watch it with friends because when you get bored in this 'up and down plot' ( i mean sometimes it's scary and good but sometimes it's boring) you got a friend to look at :)

For me, this is still a slightly excellent movie. Excellent animation, tech, and excellent actor. Quite stressful and scary. After all, this is a good movie.

One word for this movie, "Bring back my childhood!"

Don't watch it! Especially for kids!
7 July 2015
This movie is so disgusting! Don't watch it! We can't feel the moral value despite violence and bad things. In the woods the prince cheating on Cinderella and that's not the good way to teach children about marriage. Annoying songs that makes me more bored, just don't watch! Despite the actress and actor playing well, the script writer must be an idiot. I was watching this movie because of Anna Kendrick in it. But Anna doesn't help much to fix the movie because all of the actor just doing what the director want. One more, the improvisation of the story is just make the story worse. What a trash! The worst movie of the decade! Save your money and your children! And, sorry for my bad English.
