Father Brown: The Wisdom of the Fool (2020)
Worst Father Brown Episode
I had started to watch this episode when it first came out, and had stopped. Went back last night and watched it with a lot of fast forwarding. This has to be the worst Father Brown episode so far, and I've seen them all. Absolutely ridiculous all the way through. A Jesters Convention? Really? Every scene was ridiculously crazy. Sergeant Goodfellow is afraid of clowns, the nerdy son is over-the-top crazy. Even the man pursuing Mrs. McCarthy was unbelievable. And the ending was crazy and unbelievable. Some of the later episodes have been on the crazy side, too. I'm thinking the series is going to become a slapstick comedy.
Harry Wild (2022)
The Main Character is ANNOYING
I reluctantly made it through the first episode. Watched about ten minutes of the second episode. The Harry character is SO rude and overbearing. I can't stand her rudeness to her son and daughter in law.
Father Brown: The Wayward Girls (2022)
Best of This Season
This was a delightful episode. The fact that the angry, over played, always yelling Inspector Mallory and the mean spirited Mrs. McCarthy were not in it was a vast improvement. A good story and well played by all the characters.
Father Brown: The Requiem for the Dead (2022)
Season 9 Episodes Not That Great
The six episodes I've watched of Season 9 are not that great. The story lines are lacking in quality as well as the dialog and acting. Very disappointing. It seems the writers have run out of good ideas.
The Gulf (2019)
Lead Detective Was Unwatchable
I tried watching this. Watched four episodes without putting my fist through the TV. Kate Elliott as D. S. S. Jess Savage was difficult to watch. She's either holding her head in agony, chewing pain pills, acting like she's going to keel over dead, falling asleep or yelling at people. The story lines were decent, but I couldn't take any more of this terribly depressed, angry woman. With the state of the world today, why would directors and producers thing anyone wants to watch a lead detective who's falling apart?
A Good Woman (2004)
The Setting Made This Movie
I'll give the movie a 7 for the setting alone. Scarlett Johansson was great in her role as Lady Windermere. She wore the 1930s clothes with grace and elegance. The entire cast, with the exception of Mark Umbers and Helen Hunt, were great.
Mark Umbers: Why was he smiling during his private interactions with Mrs. Erlynne? She is blackmailing him. When he talks, he barely mumbles his words, and he always looks stunned or dazed.
Helen Hunt: So many of her lines are delivered in an artificial cadence. She stresses the word up instead of down. "You should have told me before I ordered the BORDEAUX."
Midsomer Murders: Scarecrow Murders (2021)
Each Episode is Worse Than The Last
This last season of Midsomer Murders is the worst I've seen so far. Story lines are scattered all over the place with crazy characters. Each new episode is worse than the one before. And Barnaby and Winter seem bored beyond reason as they sleepily plod through all the clues.
The Brokenwood Mysteries: Something Nasty in the Market (2021)
A Decent Story Line
This was a good mystery with a lot of suspects. My biggest complaint was that they keep bringing back previous characters and forcing a story line around them. Example: Frodo, Frodo's cousin, Pete London...
The Brokenwood Mysteries: Dog Day Morning (2021)
Too Much Back and Forth Silliness
This episode went all over the place. I didn't care about any of the characters who said they didn't rob the bank. About half-way through, I gave up trying to make sense of it, and half-way watched the boring confusion going on. Scripts like this really do make the "team" look not very bright. And do they have to keep bringing Trudy Neilson back?
The Brokenwood Mysteries: The Witches of Brokenwood (2021)
Back and Forth of Who Done It Confusing
This episode started out okay, but slid into beyond boring. The story line of the sisters was neither funny nor compelling. It seems the writer ran out of ideas.
Murdoch Mysteries: Murdoch and the Tramp (2021)
Trying Too Hard To Be Funny
This episode was cringeworthy. The way they had Julia hysterically laughing over nothing was a bit bizarre. The story line was going nowhere. This show used to be pretty decent.
Law & Order: UK (2009)
As Regular Cast Members Left, Show Is Less Appealing
I really liked the show up until Ben Daniels (Steel) left the show. His replacement is hard to watch. Then when Jamie Bamber (Devlin) was killed in Season 3, Episode 6, I decided I will no longer watch the show. I did watch part of Episode 7, with Bamber's replacement, Nicholls (Sam Casey), and he is NOT a good replacement. Bamber was one of the BEST characters. Without him, I have no desire to watch the show. And I see from upcoming episodes that everyone from the original cast except Walsh will be leaving. They should have just cancelled the show instead of bringing in an entire new cast of characters. This always ruins a show, no matter how good it is.
Deadwater Fell (2020)
A Big Disappointment
I was intrigued by the story line, and thought all the actors were great. After watching Episode 2, I expected a much better ending. Tom was an unlikable character from the beginning. It was misleading to paint him as the killer, then lead us to believe he wasn't. Considering how evil he was and how abusive he was to his family, more people around them would have noticed this. It would have been gratifying to viewers to see Tom behind bars or at least being handcuffed and arrested.
Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears (2020)
Very Disappointing
Toy trains and toy planes.
The story line was disjointed and the acting overdone.
I absolutely loved the TV series, but this was awful in so many ways.
