Sword of Trust (2019)
Awkwardly Humorous
It's surprisingly deep in a VERY funny kind of way. It almost the American version of British dry humor. I gave it a 10 because I believe it takes a lot of talent to pull this off deliberately... Both in script as well casting the correct actors...
El Chicano (2018)
Well done!
I'm African-American... My Mexican-American brothers and sisters did a wonderful job with this film!
Sordo (2019)
Excellent Movie
War of any kind remains, and will always remain brutal. Depicting it here in this film is no different. However, the cinematography, camera movements, style of the film, actors, and story is strong and should be commended to all those that participated in its making. The only thing that held me back from giving the film a 10 rating is that the subtitles often disappear rapidly, but it's not enough to hide the story because of strong inferences through strong and understandable visuals... Well done!!!
Hai Phuong (2019)
A Unexpected Treasure
I almost didn't watch the film on DVD because of all the trailers from other films came before it. In addition, it seems these days films have to give what seems to be endless credits to investor before you actually get to watch the film... I started to eject the DVD, but glad I didn't.
Martial arts are secondary to this powerful story. Technical aspects of film making is very present. The fill has been edited to capture the viewers emotion through wonderful storytelling. Give it a chance!!
If there is one thing I would encourage the editor(s) to do in the future is, let the subtitles last just a few seconds longer.
The is never a substitute for a good story...
