Totally underrated
29 January 2022
What i see is Cem Yilmaz has matured and surpassed the reasoning and understanding of his comedy-time audience, which is one of the reasons people started to dislike his makings. That he created this Comidark series is another indicator of his maturity but this also causes loss of his fan mass which mostly enjoyed his not-so-memorable stand-up shows and light comedy movies.

Why not leave the core as it was?
30 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
A great visual show with almost disastrous screen adaptation.

Too many unreasonable changes to the main storyline of the books.

Why do we need sticky love stories? Not minding gender changes unless they create a huge effect on backbone. Daneel/Demerzel a woman? Where is Hari's psychic daughter? Why Gaal is replacing her? Too many liberties, just too many.

We had a great core in the books. They just spoiled it.

Dune (2021)

The best screen adoption of Dune
27 September 2021
Maybe cine-tech advanced enough or adopters realized it would not be enough to have a 2-hr movie even from a single book, this one is definitely the best adoption for me.

One crucial criticism would be if this movie will be comprehensible for the ones who haven't read the book(s). That the whole movie jumped into action as soon as it started will be something hard to catch up for the ones not familiar with the first book or the Dune saga.

I would really recommend a read at least of a synopsis of Dune before watching, to understand the background, the Houses of Corrino, Attreides, Harkonnen, Bene Gesserit, Space Guild, and what spice melange is.

Totally underrated!
16 September 2018
I am not sure why this series has this low rating here. Possibly due to the subject and the unfortunate objects of the crime in it. Decor, casting, personalities top notch. One issue might be lack of deep characterization of the cast. Well, 1 point gone due to that. I say you give it a chance.

Incredible Performance by James Franco
9 December 2017
Recently viewed the movie on Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF). It was a great movie and impeccable act by James Franco.

Frankly, i would not have had the chance, unless my spouse picked it among many others.

You can see on the net people suggest you watch the Room, Citizen Kane of the worst movies ever filmed, as a prerequisite; believe me, it is not a suggestion. Please watch the Room (2003) before going to Disaster Artist. You will have so much more if you do.

Probably the best Sci-Fi Series after FireFly
11 April 2017
An excellent catch for me after suffering a lot of crappy stuff in the years following cancellation of FireFly. You know, there are some books after which you finish, you feel like you are in a total emptiness, with a big hole in your heart and mind, feel like you will never ever experience such a reading frenzy. Yep, The Expanse did the same. And now i have to wait till 2018.

Possibly one of the worst movies in Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF)
17 December 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Well, i had a lot of excitement and hopes for this movie. Who could not? Here it has a dream cast, a compilation of fairy tale characters, an innovative touch as a musical, and Johnny Depp. Any ways. It was the movie's world premier in DIFF, and we dressed up with my wife; you know, bow ties, dress clothes etc. At the end we were going to the world premier of one of the movies we had been expecting. And what happened? Well, i can say a lot of things happened, but not a single nice thing about this movie. It was bad bad bad. The flow was bad, the musical quality was horrible, the characters were not fitting, even it was not possible to place this movie in any genre - was it comedy? No. Fantasy, no. Family, No No. What was that? I guess it was a too-long-cut movie version of Once-Upon-a- Time TV series WANNABE. Don't go. Don't waste your time and money. Into the wooooood la la la la... KIll meeee, kill meee now...

Battlestar Galactica (2004–2009)

I really can not understand where this Galactica stuff is going
26 January 2009
First of all the genre sequence should change to Drama-Drama-Bad Drama; drama that I always try to keep my self away especially in a sci-fi environment; please make your drama for your mama. I don't want to see baby-like crying admirals, or full-time crying admiral-sons and president wannabes. Why isn't there more fight with the cylon robots - not the humanoid hybrids giving birth, feel pain, and losers of the robotic empire? The first season was prima, I liked it very much. We are in the 4th season, and look at what is going on? The best character was Dr. Gaius Baltar (thanks to James Callis), but now he seems to be more and more out of picture. Hey, directors, scenarists, producers; you can not go with Starbuck as the lead character, nor Adama-the-cry-babe family. You know, the current episodes of Galactica remind me low-budget time travel movies, in which you always go to the past, since the movie has no money to spend for future stuff. In stead, make the guys play their roles, make the robots in shape of human so you spare your money. I don't like Galactica any more.

Fringe (2008–2013)

If you have time, and if you liked Alias, and if you keep your expectations low
21 January 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Well, lots of things can be said about Fringe. Yes, I agree it is not good cut, and i agree there are lots of holes, and inconsistencies in the stories. Anyway, if you play with space-time continuum, you can not get away with it - it is not possible; if you play with stuff like mind control etc., you absolutely have lots of holes and non-scientific mumbo-jumbo. Let's face the facts.

Fringe is some other version of Alias. In Alias have we had Milo Giacomo Rambaldi (named after Carlo Rambaldi) artifacts, and in Fringe have we "the pattern". Whatever it is. It has some Heroes stuff in it also. We can say that it is a premature kid of Alias and Heroes.

Anyway, when I watched the first time, I never expected anything more than Alias, and if you keep your expectations low, and if you have time to spare 1 hour/week, you can take a look at it, and have some fun.

One of the best Turkish movies ever
5 December 2005
The movie starts on the days of military government, which started Sep.12th, 1980, and lasted 3 years (Effects of this action against democracy lasted more than 15 years). A young socialist newspaper writer (Fikret Kuskan) loses his wife on birth of his only son on the very first day of the military action, because he can not find any help for delivery of the child. After 6 years past, the father was desperate to find any jobs on the papers, which are now supporters of the new order, and decides to return his father (Çetin Tekindor)'s home in a small village near Izmir: A house that he has left years ago fighting his father's wills to make him a person that his father would like him to be.

I can not even summarize the rest of the movie, since one should see the movie himself/herself to understand the encounters of two strangers, father and son. One should notice the mother (Humeyra)'s role on the relationship (or non-relationship) of these two different men, and the grandson (Ege Tanman).

If you have a Mediterrenean blood, Greek, Italian, whatever, you will find many things in this movie. You don't have to be Turk to understand the emotional rivers in this movie. It really touches hearts of the Turkish people.
