Seven Signs of the Apocalypse (2009)
What garbage!!!
I entered this film hoping for a new angle on the destruction of the planet and all I got was a Biblical interpretation of the end of life as we know it. I don't mind the Biblical references, but when that's all I see, then I feel hoodwinked. Just another attempt to rope everyone in (with special effects) to the prophecies of the Bible. I'm not a religious person, but I am very open to ideas, but this visual aberration is insulting. What puzzles me is how religious zealots can use current tragedies as examples, completely forgetting similar examples like the Spanish Flu from nearly a hundred years ago, as possible examples of the end of times. It's like 9/11 is the epitome of terrorist acts when there have been so many more in the past. This is garbage and should not be taken as anything more than propaganda.
Treasure Raiders (2007)
Just Too Many Clichés
I gave it a try, stayed with it for about an hour, but I had to give up. It beat me. Although there was an effort, as one other reviewer noted, it appeared the producers figured they had to dumb it down for the masses. Editing was weak. At one point, the police get a call of a disturbance so they decide to go investigate. Next scene, the disturbance begins! No respect for the viewer. And the clichés - Lord, I lost count. From your typical fight at the bar to the comment, "If I tell you, I'll have to kill you." I can see middle school kids being entertained, but certainly not grown adults. Although I must say, the character of "Wolf" had the best Schwarzenegger impersonation I've ever heard!
Wilderness (2006)
Another poor attempt at scaring us....
I have seen this type of film so often now, I should know better. Doesn't matter who's in it or who the director is, it's just bland movie making. People who find this quality of of film making satisfying are obviously inexperienced and unfamiliar with this medium.
I won't belabour my point, but if you like reality TV, American Idol crap, home renovating, and the toilet humour of current video, then maybe this one will entertain you. However, to me, there's nothing new, nothing refreshing, no edge-of-your-seat scary stuff, just drivel which is in plenty of supply these days.
By the way, the two points are for the cinematography. Might want to visit the island after they clean up the mess.
The Tooth Fairy (2006)
What a dreadful insult to intelligence!
Just saw this film and I must say that although there was shown in the beginning some effort to produce a decent film, this was absolutely horrible -- but not in the sense that was intended I'm sure.
It was like a child was directing this insult to intelligence with the belief that all would-be viewers are morons OR extremely hard up for entertainment OR both.... Thank God for fast forward! I can't imagine the type of viewer the producer had in mind when making this film. I mean, you have actors trying to be serious, albeit barely, and a script that cries for a total rewrite,.... I just can't say anymore. If Harlequin Romance decided to do horror films, this would be a good effort.
If you found this movie to be entertaining, then I strongly suggest that you seek out some guidance as to the purpose of movies. There is MUCH BETTER fare out there. Join a club, READ REVIEWS, but above all, avoid crap like this.
