I Spit on Your Grave 2 (2013)
There's a "gem" in this dark, depressing film...
To begin with, I am no fan of the rape-revenge horror genre, so I was surprised that I watched this very hackneyed and overdone film that I nearly turned off at the beginning. I feel fortunate that I DID NOT turn the channel/exit the program, etc., since that would probably extended the time that I became familiar with the work of Jemma Dallenger, our featured victim/starlet. All I can say is this woman has the almost ethereal "presence" of an actress much older than the then 24-year-old Dallenger. She is undeniably intriguingly beautiful, but when I checked her bio AFTER watching the film, I was fascinated that a girl, really, had the screen presence of, say, Kate Beckinsale in 2013, when she was somewhere north of 35. It isn't likely that this picture will catapult this most-deserving young actress into the stratosphere of filmdom, but I KNOW I'll be watching for any work this enormously gifted actress takes part in. On that vein, I am off to view "Daddy's Girl." (I know - I said I'm not really a "horror/revenge/dark-themed genre-junkie, but I gotsta has my Dallenger!)
Really, if for no other reason than to witness this phenomenal woman's first starring role, it's worth it to, perhaps, take in the lovely theme and delightful East-European charm that "ISOYG-2" offers...
So You've Grown Attached (2014)
Beautifully accomplished the texture of youth and coming ofage.
There are times when you just get "attached" to a film...this is one. Ms Conner - I hope that you continue to hone your craft - you are RIVETING! To my mind, you are set for stardom! Great start!!!
