better than expected!
2 June 2007
I went to see this film after hearing mixed feelings about it. some saying it's brilliant others saying its a bore. Personally, I thought it was a really good film. If you like gayness then it's perfect!! LOL! It is surprisingly good - I'll be honest, the beginning might make you think "oh, this is going to be bad" but trust me, it won't be. It's worth watching as it is very funny and, if you like ice-skating you Torvill and Dean fans, then it is the perfect film for you. A feel-good movie more than anything I think! So cute! hehehehehe! Will Ferrell is excellent in this - one of his best since Elf. You have to love him in this, even if you don't like him much as an actor. I love him, so maybe I'm bias!! But, believe me, even my brother enjoyed it and that's saying something!! :-)

Alien Autopsy (2006)

Surprisingly good!
2 June 2007
Ant and Dec have moved well past their Byker Grove days in this weird but wonderful movie. The way the story is told is really good - as a documentary/flashback! It really makes you think about the possibilities of what happened at Roswell and maybe there is something out there. Sorry, going all alien on you - but thats what the film makes you think. The sub-plot of the gangsters adds interest to the main story and, as you may or may not know, it is based on a true story - whether the whole thing is true or not, I can't remember! But who cares? Ant and Dec both deliver good characters and proves to the world that they can still act - long after PJ and Duncan! Surprise appearances from other comedians is a good laugh too. I could go on and on about this film but I don't want to spoil it too much. Just go and see it - it's a film that cannot be judged by just reading about it as different people think different things on this film. A must for Ant and Dec fans at least!!

Very good film - but need to pay attention!!! :-)
2 June 2007
I saw this film on DVD with a few friends, one of which saw it in the cinema and thought it was the most amazing film ever!! One tip - don't watch with a friend who has seen it before and thought it was absolutely fantastic - ruins it a bit!! LOL! But, all that aside, it was a brilliant film - not as good as she was making it out to be but an overall good film. It is one that definitely needs the full attention of watchers as you can get confused easily but it's a film that everyone can enjoy really. Even David Bowie fans!! He was pretty good with his accent - reminds me of his song China Girl! It's a proper "expect the unexpected" film - don't want to spoil it for you so I'll leave it there. If you don't like complicated films then I wouldn't watch it but it is a must-see-before-you-die (sorry for the negative!!). It has action, romance, slight horror as well - a proper thriller!

Cats (1998 Video)

Brilliant!

I don't really know how to put this performance into words. It was a brilliant show for such a large performance being put into film. The production team of it just grabbed the best they could get. Elaine Paige is really good at her part which she is possibly best known for and as for John Partridge that sexy beast! He is just utterly fantastic as the Rum Tum Tugger - just like he was on stage when I saw him. This may seem at first a little slow but it gets way better after the prologue! It is just truly amazing and I think everyone should see it as now the musical has stopped running on stage now. This is possibly one of very few musicals that I cannot get tired of because it is just such an interesting and blockbusting show which deserves more credit than it gets sometimes!

Really good
23 December 2006
I must say how I was very surprised at how good this show actually was. I have seen it many times on the stage so thought that the video would not be very good at all. However, I was really pleased with the entire thing. The characters were just as good as on the stage and Donny Osmond fitted the part perfectly, another thing I was adamant about at first being a strong Jason Donovan supporter!! Donny did a good job. As for the special guest Joan Collins, I only wished she toured with the stage show! She was good at the small part she played and it was a shock to see her there. Fantastic. It was also very good at how they made the show so that it was like a school production type of thing. Great idea that worked well in my opinion. It is a must-see for any musical fan and a definite must have for a Donny fan. He is gorgeous in it!

Brilliant stuff!!
23 December 2006
I thought I would never see the day when someone (or a group of people) will take the complete mickey out of the best known singers/groups! This is a fantastic television show and the DVD is even better. As a duranie, my favourite would obviously be the Duran Duran sketch but they are all fantastic, especially Elton John and his partner David Furnish!! I would recommend this DVD to anyone who loves music and the bands involved. It is truly a masterpiece and there should be more made! On the DVD there are a few special features including some mini sketches from one of Jamie Theakston's show which includes singers Charlotte Church, Will Young and Lou Reed and Andy Warhol (hence why Walliams and Lucas called their most famous duo Lou and Andy). Rock the Blind is a take the mickey out of Band Aid, but not in a nasty way I must add - it is truly funny with "appearances" from Pete Waterman, Lulu and Stevie Wonder. It is one of the best DVDs I own and I must stress how much any music lover needs to own it!

A Diva's Christmas Carol (2000 TV Movie)

This is brilliant!
6 November 2006
I've seen a fair few versions of A Christmas Carol but this is the best by far. Its so different and really modern for those who do not like the classic story. It tells the story of a pop star diva and how she gets visited my 3 ghosts (exactly the same as the classic but the ghosts are funny!) And the Ghost of Xmas Present is played by John Taylor, who was well casted once again! He seems to play similar roles but this is probably the best movie he has done, so this is a must for a duranie! Its not as bad as it might sound, in fact, its well worth watching. And Vanessa Williams is brilliant! Her facial expressions are very funny at times and her singing is outstanding, as usual. Really good! Must see!

It was OK but hard to understand
6 November 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I am a massive Duran Duran fan and when I got this on DVD, I thought it would be just like Sugar Town (another film with John Taylor in). However, it is nearly the opposite. Its a complicated storyline for one thing and I found it hard to keep up with the characters. Another thing, there is far too much sex in it! OK, nearly all films have references to it but this has sex in every other scene. Its one to watch without the parents I can assure you!! Right, the acting. It was kind of good, must admit it was wooden in places. John Taylor is one of the better actors in it and he was well casted I think. But it is a strange story and you can only really watch it once. Not a must see!! Unless you are a duranie then you might want to take a look.

Think its good!
6 November 2006
Everyone was saying to me not to get this on DVD cos its rubbish! But when I first watched it, I really enjoyed it. OK, it may seem a bit cut off at the end but the storyline was really good. It rounded up showbiz life in LA well and gave an insight to how celebrities live. The acting I thought was good too - especially watching John Taylor, who I thought had only one use and that was on a bass guitar. He really surprised me especially at the end as he watched his wife get on well with his "son". Martin Kemp was good also - so Duranies and Spandau fans are equal!! For a movie that took about a week to make, its really good and I advise you to watch it, see what you think. Its a film that cannot be judged unless you have seen it all the way through.

Duran Duran Still Rock and look gorgeous!
3 December 2005
I brought the DVD, thinking that it was going to be about the same as the Astronaut DVD. But no, this was the whole show and the special features were great! The 3D glasses were cool and I loved watching them with these as I have never seen them live. I'm hoping I will one day as they really do look great on stage. The audio commentaries were the best thing on there after the actually concert as you get to hear what each member has to say about two of their songs. Andy's is probably the most interesting as he likes pointing out the mistakes! I love Duran Duran and this is by far the best documentary/concert DVD since the 1984 USA tour DVD, Sing Blue Silver. They look great, and sound brilliant! Thanks Duran Duran for being so fantastic and putting up with the celebrity and fame hassle! You guys really do rock my boat!

Worse than what I thought it was going to be
24 October 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I have got to admit, this film was awful and I think it should either have been checked before sending to Hollywood or should never have been made. I got the DVD last year as I saw the first film (starring John Goodman) and thought it was very good, but then I saw this one and I thought it had dull parts and then good parts. Not my favourite kind of movie! I think the highlight of the film is seeing John Taylor of Duran Duran (I am a massive fan). Although he only had one line, he made my day! I will say this though, the film is rather funny, but in a stupid way. Mick Jagged was kind of funny and so was Barney, but this film did nothing for me nor my family.

Excellent DVD
24 October 2005
This is an excellent DVD with lots of special features and even more features when you put it into a DVD-Rom on the computer. It is slightly confusing to begin with because the hidden features are well hidden! IF you have difficulty in finding the "Easter Eggs" then there are some websites which tell you where they all are. Apart from this bit of confusion, it is a must for any Duranie! The DVD includes also loads of videos which you won't see on VH1 i.e. the long, uncut version of Girls on Film. It also has the New Moon on Monday movie version which in my opinion is brilliant. An excellent DVD!! Brilliant! Must-have if you love their Greatest Videos!

Excellent, hilarious, great!
4 August 2005
I love this DVD! He is one of the funniest men nowadays! This is a must-have in every household! It includes something that all of us has encountered in our lives - mine is the "People say stupid things" and the Wedding jokes. Peter Kay is so funny and those who find him not funny, well, that's their sense of humour. I recommend his other stand-up DVD, Live at the Top of the Tower, it was released before this DVD so you might need to watch that one first to understand some of the jokes in Bolton Albert Halls. If you haven't seen any of his Phoenix Nights, then you must. Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere is a sequel to it.
