Killing Zelda Sparks (2007)
It's a great movie!
Watching this movie was no big deal until 12 minutes in. A 4 minute bar scene with a haunting song in the back round drew me in (all of me, I'm a hopeless romantic). The supple effects of a discussion in an apartment to appearing in the bar - and the song.. excellent.. Very worthy of anyones attention.. In the beginning the forward and back time line is trying, but as the movie plays out all this comes clear. I can see how this started as a play, much of the intake is dialog, but then the creativity with the sound mixing/effects and different types of filming varieties start to set this film apart. This is a movie that does what they set out to do, entertaining and fulfilling. The story has plenty and the production has more than plenty.. I have no idea why the rating isn't 8.5 here. I'm glad I DVR'ed it, and have watched the bar scene over and over.
Cold Case: The Key (2006)
Who's was That?
I always enjoy the music in this show. Often wonder how they pick which songs from a particular era to use.I wonder if the writers get too choose the songs that they liked from the year. Anyway...I can't come up with who sang the song at the end and it is driving me crazy. I was 22 then and I recognize it but can't place the artist. I liked the overall show but wonder how often these key parties really took place. On another note, why do they make Lilly's character so unable to be in a relationship. It seems like she doesn't even try. Do they want to always keep open the option of having a love interest in a case. Is the show really shot in Philly? Well, I hope someone can help me out with this, I'm usually pretty good at "naming that tune" but not tonight.
Collateral (2004)
Fun movie - a little far fetched
The story is a little too much to believe. The action and actors make this watchable. Sound effects are solid but the music isn't a great match to the action, resulting in some dialog difficult to understand. The maturing of Jamie Foxx's character (Max) is the goal. He does mature but sometimes it's not smooth enough. Tom Cruise (Vincent) is direct, motivated and convincing. Any Tom Cruise fan will love his look and manner in this movie. I don't know why cell phones don't work in LA except from rooftops but accepting this as a given allows for a suspenseful scene late in the movie. You probably know what your getting into with this movie so grab your popcorn, sit down and enjoy.
