Lifeforce (1985)
Still love this movie
I saw this movie at the theatres when i was a teenager and it scared the crap out of me - of course, now when i watch it, the special effects sometimes seemed dated, yet sometimes surprise me with their realism (there is something to be said to not have CGI technology). Even when the blood runs out of the faces of the guys in the helicopter - seems fake to me now, but my teenage brain filled in all the gaps at the time, and it's seemed real to me, then.
I remember the hot alien guys (one was the shockingly better looking brother of Mick Jagger) and hoping to see more of them, and at the time, wondered about the undertones - but of course, they only showed the girls boobs and ass, and her secret powers - - forget about the men. Didn't they think of the burgeoning queens that might be secretly be tantalized too? Surely they had queens on the other side of the production crew who could have promoted that approach - but NOOOOO. Well, we were still secretly tantalized anyway (well, tot he the extent that they let us, in those days).
The story line is still rather good, i like the tie-in to the vampires of legend, and the older professor brought a wonderful touch of scary evil in the final scenes of the movie along the lines of Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. As an American i am not familiar with his work. "Here i go!" With his grinning insanity must be among the creepiest scenes, lost to the top 10 lists of recent.
And its sort of strange to hear Patrick Stewart refer to the policeman as "commander" in the same intonation as Captain Picard. Why does at the age of early 40s he look exactly the same today in his mid 70s?
This is a good horror movie from the 80s thats worth watching.

Unique, humanized zombie film
Everyone seems to want zombie films with blood and carnage - i do, too. But every once in a while, you stumble upon a zombie film that's not about the gore or the horror of the zombies - its about the human experience. With this film, you could eliminate the zombie part and insert whatever - Syrians fleeing war, displaced French fleeing famine post WWII and Nazi defeat, grief and loss when someone is dying of cancer and knows it and has children he or she wants to save, people wondering what to do when they lose their job for two years and struggling to survive when they know their own personal time on this earth isn't going to be enough. That perhaps is the real horror - - maybe there are some folks who believe the scary traditional part of horror is escapism (I do) but sometimes the slower, more thoughtful plots are the more powerful, the more moving, the more disturbing, the more meaningful - - and if you fear facing reality, even if metaphorical, this film is not for you - but if you want to experience what most of us either have, or will, go through at some point in life, watch this film.
Bullet Head (2017)
I was entertained
I wasn't going to watch this movie when I saw it was about a killer dog - give me a break. But with Brody and Malkovich, I thought, well I'd give it a shot on a lazy Sunday afternoon. The dialogue was amusing in parts, and moving in other parts. If you fear dogs, this movie will frighten you, and if you love dogs, this movie will sadden you. Sure this isn't an Oscar winning film nor will it be a cult classic, but if you want to experience some unexpected emotions, watch this film.
