Bluey (2018– )

The best kids show for kids and parents
10 May 2023
So many kids shows developed for very young kids in the early 90s lacked educational material, including social interaction. I could name a few, but parents know the dumb ones. Bluey hits all of the correct notes. A good kids show teaches kids and parents act well together. Bluey has jokes, games and situations that most shows don't care about. It's fun and good manners, silly jokes and humor that adults can relate to. I can't say enough about the production value and voice acting in this show. Well done. I recommend any parent to give this a try. It has helped me interact better with my own children and that is a huge plus.

A simple story from the surface
9 March 2021
An entertaining movie that is family friendly and thought provoking. An oriental inspired world full of connections to individual personalities and national pride. This film isn't going to make most people cry through direct consequence. However, this type of entertainment shows what we are missing in a modem world where we distance ourselves out of fear and mistrust. We're not all that different from our neighbor. Raya and the Last Dragon does make you think, and though there are political ideals, the underlining themes of trust, humility and humanity run deep through this story.

They tried

The costumes and locations are beautiful. The acting is dull. The actor's expressions are ok, but the delivery of their lines leaves a lot to be desired. If I had never seen the Gweneyh Paltrow version, I wouldn't have anything to compare it to. I much prefer that version.

Sweet adventure for kids and some adults
25 January 2021
Jim Parsons and Rihanna's characters give this animated kids movie a relationship that is the center conflict in a somewhat simple alien invasion story. Steve Martin provides excellent humor as silly Captain Smek. The first time I saw it, I was blown away by how the animators and voice actors combined skills to make this a favorite of mine. It is easy to watch, and emotional at appropriate times.

Klaus (2019)
10/10
The best Christmas movie I've seen in years
3 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I thoroughly enjoyed the journey of the characters in Klaus. The environment and situations are detailed with real world charm and, in some scenes, dispair. It is easy to get caught up in the journeys that each character takes, and even feel the building up of why we need what we ideally should get during events like Christmas. It is a lesson of selflessness, forgiveness, love and joy, things that we are sometimes desperate to find in a often cruel world. The message is sweet and simplified. We make this world what it is, and we have a choice, free will, to make it one where we value and cherish one another.

Dismiss the cynics and critics
2 January 2021
Critics and reviews have their place. But you need to judge things for yourselves. There are too many cynical reviews about this movie. The acting is great through most of the movie. The combat is exciting and enjoyable, though slow at times. There are some scenes that you may have to watch a couple of times before you understand them. I really disagree that this is worse than Green Lantern or low quality productions.

A poor excuse for a remake
2 November 2019
It would be a great movie if not for the flat acting. The visuals are stunning. The voice acting is just terrible until about half way through.

Visually appealing but lackluster in soul
13 October 2019
The visual effects / CGI are impressive. But the visual effects aren't enough to convey emotions. The original movie was full of talented voice actors, animators (drawing each scene), and writers. The new one feels very flat. Visually stunning for sure. Definitely not a 1 star rating in the visual and nature sounds, but this isn't supposed to be a documentary. It is a retelling of the classic Hamlet, with animals. The cartoon still works so well, and that is what I expected, a remaster of the original. I have loved the other remakes, particularly Aladdin, but the Lion King missed the mark in many areas.

Interesting concepts with no moral center
13 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The introduction in the first of this movie was good, but the ending was lacking of any substance, and did not require any critical thinking. The beginning of the film made me think, and there are a few times where this happens. There is substance to the first half. But as you get to the ending and find that nothing really changed when the leaders of the company were ousted, it makes me think that this movie was written and paid for by the very social networks that it seems to warn the audience of. It didn't seem to matter to the writers if the original leaders of the company or the main characters run the ompany. The social network existing at all is the problem. That is the message I hoped would come from this movie, but instead of insulting our modern social networks out there, the movie panders to them. It isn't so much that I want some and gloom messages in movies, but the main plot point was that the system couldn't be trusted, that the power given to the mob was the problem. It s with watching once, but I would have preferred a more daring ending.

Great movie once it explains itself

Warning: Spoilers
I would have preferred they be fighting against an enemy that was introduced at some point during the previous DC films. However, it was intriguing and I enjoyed the character development. For not having each hero introduced in their own separate films, Justice League does a good job of uniting the heroes.
