Bodies Bodies Bodies (2022)
Brilliant!
Luckily, I didn't read the reviews before I watched it, considering how unflattering they are. This movie was BRILLIANT! So, without giving too much away- consider this a GenZ CLUE, but with a twist (for those of you who are not movie buffs, CLUE is one of the BEST mystery/comedic movies of the late 80s). 2/3 way into the movie, I'm STILL questioning who 'DUN IT'. And by the end, with my jaw dropped, I'm realizing just WHAT an amazingly intelligent script this!! Sorry for the lack of details but I believe this movie should be watched with as little given info as possible, in order to enjoy it properly!!!
Strays (2023)
I haven't cried like this in YEARS!
First off, I'm giving a review, NOT a movie synopsis. My friend who saw this before me said "would have been better without the profanity". We aren't friends anymore.
About 20 min in I was laughing so hard, I was crying. The movies been over for approx 5 minutes and I'm STILL whipping my eyes! For those of you who appreciated Team America and the Southpark movie, just go ahead and buy this movie, no need to watch beforehand.
Sooooo funny and perfectly spaced with the raunchy humor and "serious " moments. WARNING: you WILL get sucked into the "sweet, emotional" moments and then be momentarily shocked when you're hit with a "not safe for human" scenes!
The Wonder (2022)
Don't make the same mistake that I did
I've been eagerly awaiting to see this movie for months, as I am a HUGE fan of Florence Pugh. She is exceptional in period pieces and does not disappoint in this movie. I'm here to give my review, not my synopsis of the movie. So if that's what you're looking for, look elsewhere. The intro to the movie had me bewildered at first but as I continued to watch, I realized not only was it brilliant but speaks to the quality of the movie. The opening instantly pulls you into this enigma of what's to follow. Florence is brilliant and on par with the theme of science verses religion. The rest of the actors, from the offscreen tavern patron to the 11 year old girl, Anna, who is the focus of the film, brings this piece to life and helps to make it extraordinary. The One Thing that I beg of you, DO NOT SEARCH FOR INFO ON THIS MOVIE BEFORE YOU WATCH IT! Halfway Through The Movie, I searched to see if this was based on a true story. Do Not Make The Mistake I Did! Because of this, the ending did not hit as hard as it should have and was meant to, which left me loving the movie and pissed off at myself. For Those Who Like Info- the movie is loosely based on a true story. Now, let it go, watch the movie and you WILL enjoy!!
The Courier (2020)
If I could give it 100 stars, I would
This is honestly the best movie I've seen of this genre(govt spy), and that's saying a lot as I'm quite the movie buff. I'm not going to reveal anything about this movie and I strongly recommend NOT reading any spoilers before watching(despite the current knowledge you have regarding the cold war, of course). I will, however, say this about it- EVERY key actor deserves a nom and a standing ovation for their performance and if this doesn't win at least one Oscar, the award shows are rigged even worse than i thought! There also wasn't the usual Hollywood glamour you typically see in regards to how things play out in true story movies. Thank you Dominic Cooke for this edge of my seat, emotionally charged, rollercoaster ride you just put me on!!
Ammonite (2020)
Absolute must watch!
I'll admit, I waited a long time before watching this film, even though I'd read/watched every interview available for it. While watching, I did something I've never done before-rate it prior to watching it entirely. I rated it based solely on the content, history, informative, etc. I did not want to rate this movie after the intimate scenes because I knew I'd be biased. With that said, this movie is absolutely, hands down beautiful, sincere and honestly, one of the most romantic films I've ever seen. These actresses may have been A list before, but after seeing this movie, I'm not sure there's a "class" you can put them in.
