The Heartbreak Kid (2007)
Underrated movie, ...and it's more than just an ordinary comedy...
First of all I have to mention that I had a rough look at the IMDb entry before watching this movie. I told my girl friend, let's take another one, this one isn't worth watching. But this time she had the right to decide, so we went for it.
I can understand that some people have expected something different when watching "The Heartbreak Kid"; yes, it's a comedy, but it's more! And no, this movie does not only show the well-know, superficial kind of gags like in some many other Hollywood movies; there is more than that, there are a couple sequences that appear to be even rude, but, ...to be honest, it's so funny and I enjoyed it so much.
As far as you very conservative, strictly religious etc., just avoid to watch it, but otherwise it's great opportunity to get beyond the usual crap we have to suffer.
Such mich nicht (2004)
Not bad, but I missed somewhat like a surprise at the end...
Although the character of German movies often is a little bit different, it's mostly quite interesting to watch them. "The Edukators" or "Goodbye Lenin" underlines that statement. But this one is a little bit boring, the story doesn't offer new ideas and especially at the end, when something like a surprise can be expected, a quite trivial finish will top the story off... And what about a message, German movies often want to present? The two young actors Lea Mornar and Stipe Erceg did a good job; even though didn't always make it to show the reasons for resulting acts and behavior. I'll give 5 out of 10; watch it if you want - but you won't miss a big thing!
