Blocking the Path to 9/11 (2008)
Cowardice in the face of controversy
Fun drinking game. Have a shot every time someone says they want the film "Path to 9/11" banned, but admit they have not seen it. You'll be drunk before the 30 minute mark of this remarkable documentary.
A must see for those claiming that there is no bias in the media, and who cling to the belief that truth is a shield against tyranny.
As others have stated, I hope that the careers of these filmmakers has not been harmed, but I somehow think it has. The cowardice of the Disney corporation is stunning, but not all that surprising.
A good companion piece to the Docu-drama it covers, but unfortunately the only way to see that is to find it online.
Transformers (2007)
Complete and utter mess
Man, what a disappointment.
I cannot overstate how mad I was at this movie when I got out.
1) Bad acting. 2) Sorry structure made no sense. (Why did the pickup need to be done in the middle of a metropolitan area?) 3) Horrible directing. (shaky cam whenever action started) 4) Infantile retarded humor. (Oh, yeah that's so funny when a Transformer "pee's" on the government guy. 5) Stereotypes galore (Uh huh, that jive talking transformer was great) 6) Dumb vain woman..... yup, along with an impossibly gorgeous computer "expert/hacker".
Give it up guys, 8.2 currently...... are you kidding me?
Shadow Company (2006)
A great documentary that is must viewing for both sides.
I saw this documentary thinking that it would be biased one way or the other. I was pleasantly surprised to see it be neither a Michael Moore hack job or a Fox News fluff piece.
For the most part it lets present and former mercenaries talk for themselves. The "experts" that are interviewed are not trying to comment on the subject but rather to explain it. Very refreshing indeed. In todays world of highly polarized politics it was great to see a film on this subject, which is for the most part about Iraq, be so even handed.
The extras on the DVD are also well worth a look through. It's well worth the purchase.
Overnight (2003)
Duffy's Law to go along with Murphy's Law
I propose a new Law to go along with Murphy's Law. It should be called Duffy's Law, and will refer to: Anything that you can screw up, you will screw up.
This documentary captures the downfall of an egotistical, abusive drunkard who just happened to get a movie deal, then preceded to make every wrong decision he possibly could. It should be required viewing for anyone (not only in the film industry) who's wildest dreams come try and starts to think they actually deserve it. In fact, lets make it required viewing for seniors in high school.
Tony Montana and Mark Brian Smith should be commended on this documentary. It is both well shot and edited, and should make us all think twice before talking near a camera.
