Excellent movie
6 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This movie was over 2 hours in length and value for money.

I absolutely loved every minute of it and it exceeded my expectations.

I have seen a few extensive negative reviews, I guess the 20's is the era of negativity. All I can say is watch it with an open mind and appreciate the story. It went in a completely different direction than I was expecting and was incredibly creative.

I would always recommend not reading reviews before watching any movie ... I like my thoughts to be my own and ironically don't like being part of a collective consciousness.

First post-covid cinema trip
19 November 2021
This was the movie that got me back into the cinema and I loved it!

Tastefully executed!

Great balanced humour!

You will always get negative comments on a franchise movie I find... and often it is worthy! Definitely not in this case though. This movie had some heart and evidently a lot of thought had gone into its execution.

I am in my thirties and I approached this movie mindful of my age. We all want that warm nostalgic feeling that takes us back to our childhood but the reality is you will never reproduce that exact feeling. That is because you're watching it from a very different perspective and not because it is a bad movie. I know 8 year old me would have loved this movie in a much different way.

I think Jason Reitman has done an awesome job here

Go see it and do so on a big screen! The sound design alone makes the trip to the cinema worth while :)

A popcorn flick but lacking something

You have to take these movies for what they are... entertainment!

I have always enjoyed the franchise for simple escapism without any mental effort on my part. If you're looking for anything else you're in the wrong place.

F9 felt a little lazy if I am being honest. I have always admired their use of practice effects but this one felt like a blue screen bonanza. The narrative really did feel like a photocopy of the movies that came before it, although I know this expected to an extent.

I don't like to be negative about any movie as I appreciate how many people work really hard to get it on that screen.

Also if I am being really honest it was evident what Dwayne Johnson actually brought to those movies.

I hope they end with F10 ... don't make the mistake shows like The Walking Dead made.

Watch it if you're a fan of the franchise but I would sadly expect to be underwhelmed.

Very good for open minded people
6 March 2020
Unfortunately we live in a world where people are negative for likes and shares etc, basically negativity is popular.

I have to say this show is so far very good. Some stunning cinematography and a cast that have delivered great performances. This has a very gritty and realistic feel to it. Nice to see it have some focus on the UK too, so much TV & film is set in the USA.

Watch and judge for yourself.

I never read reviews prior to watching anything, and reading the negativity here is is evident I do this for good reason.

Remember, you'll never find a statue of a critic.

Give it a watch, I'd give my left arm to work on a production like this.

Tighten up that edit
16 February 2020
I hate to be negative about any film as I appreciate the hard work and passion that goes into filmmaking.

For me this film had a lot of potential but it was let down by poor pace and an edit that was made by someone that loved every shot. By this I mean that some of the shots were a little longer than was needed. I understand that if you have beautiful cinematography you want to keep as much in the final cut as possible. This film evidently hasn't awesome cinematography. The result of this type of edit is that it throws off the pace of the film. It's a damn shame as I feel if it had a slightly tighter edit I would have enjoyed the movie much more. It's hard for any filmmaker to edit out work you've poorer so much love into, I get it! Save it for a directors cut though and think more about engaging you audience. If it's driving the story forward or showing the viewer something you haven't seen keep it in, if not bin it.

I would give this film high marks for effort and it's potential though.

Awesome but a comedy
9 February 2020
Really enjoyed the film but keep in mind that this is predominantly a comedy. I am so surprised a serious movie hasn't been made from the Delorean narrative. That's not to take anything away from this film though. It's definitely worth a watch hence the reason I have given it 8 stars.

Negativity gets likes!
23 December 2019
Great movie and a fitting end.

We do live in a world where negativity seems to override positivity... lots of armchair critics putting their negative spin on everything for a reaction. Unfortunately social media has made it possible for these folks to be heard, prior to social media they would have just muttered their dislike for everything under their breath.... anyway...

We will never watch any Star Wars through the same eyes we did as children. Nostalgia is great but don't ever expect to feel the same about any sequel as you did the original, if you do you're setting yourself up to dislike any sequel.

Overall a good film... I'd say the constraints of cinematic releases impacted the pace of the film. It certainly felt like there could have been another 30 minutes of storytelling.

I would recommend this film and say good effort.

To the unfair negativity I'd say remember this... you will never see a statue for a critic;)

I wanted it to be better
24 October 2019
I was looking forward to seeing this film. Unfortunately I felt slightly let down. The characters were weak and I didn't feel anything for them. There was no drive and it was hard to empathise with them. The acting was very wooden and I almost felt that the director was happy with the first or second take and then moved on to the next shot. This is not a criticism of the actors but had more to do with the lack of direction. I am being as fair as I can about this film. I am someone who appreciates the art and I appreciate how much work goes into a film and I am sure the director poured his heart into this. Sometimes writing can let you down and to be fair the writer is still learning, I have tried writing a screenplay and it is really hard. The cinematography was great and it had so much potential. If you have no knowledge of the filmmaking process or screenwriting it will help. Ideal if you want a few beers and a pizza and want to watch something that is easy on the eye but sadly quite forgettable.

Honest account of Spielberg's journey
30 August 2019
Spielberg in my mind is one of the most inspirational filmmakers out there.

At age 12 I wrote a letter to Spielberg asking to be in one of his movies. To my surprise I received a letter back from Amblin Entertainment. This was back in 1994, so pre-internet! I was living in a sleepy town in Dorset,UK so this was a massive deal to me even though the letter diplomatically said no. It did however offer me advice on getting into the industry. Now in my 30's and an indie filmmaker this documentary has reminded me why I love filmmaking so much. Spielberg offers an honest account of his passion, family life and his struggles with his mindset between and during projects. You also hear from his family and their experience growing up with Spielberg. It's nice to know that Spielberg rocks up on set and doesn't always have a plan. You also get the thoughts and feelings of fellow filmmakers who shared his journey.

This really is a great documentary for any Spielberg fan or aspiring filmmaker.

Best TV show ever made!
17 April 2019
I am 15 years behind the rest of the world and have just recently started watching Lost in 2019. Currently on season 3 and I have to say it is the best TV show I have ever seen. So well written ... the narrative sucks you in from episode one. In the day of a billion box sets it is very difficult to decide what show you should commit your spare time to. Lost is not a waste of life like some shows. If you don't watch any other show EVER, watch LOST!!

Forget going to the movies!
12 October 2018
All of the strong narratives and original content appear to be on VOD platforms now!

This is the best thing I have ever watched on Netflix...

Absolute respect to all that were involved in this production! Jonah Hill & Emma Stone 2 of Hollywood's finest actors.

Watch this show, you will not regret it.

Season 2 is better than Season 1
11 October 2018
... I found that season 2 has delivered a stronger narrative. I understand how some people may find it confusing, it certainly isn't a show you can watch whilst looking at your phone or updating Facebook. The show needs a slower pace to pull you in. For those who struggled I'd suggest watching the next season as a binge boxset instead of weekly, this way it has more grip and is easier to understand.

The production value is through the roof and the acting is superb!

Respect the reviews of all but I thought it was awesome x

How It Ends is an ironic title
10 October 2018
There is a massive amount of irony in the title to this film as we don't actually know "how it ends".

The film starts with so much potential with a nice narrative, great cast and special effects. I think they must how blown the 20 million budget too quickly and had to cut the production short.

5 stars as it was only half a movie, give me the second half and I reckon I'd give it 10/10

unimaginative
10 October 2018
My expectations were low and having watched the film it is evident they were still too high!

With so many VOD platforms out there Hollywood is treading a very thin ice with dross like this. Please stop, you will kill cinema!

For us hardworking folk out in the big wide world it is a big expense to part with our money at the cinema box office these days. THINK HOLLYWOOD... THINK!

Walter Mitty 2
10 October 2018
Nice film and very thought provoking. It is a slow paced film but necessary with the narrative. Ben is such a versatile actor and this is evident in this film. In a world of money grabbing Hollywood Avenger-type franchises, this was a nice find. I often find these days that the lower the budget the stronger the narrative. Worth a watch for sure and I really enjoyed it.
