The Americans (2013)
Just finished the show..... I just feel like I wasted my time.
There was enough promise there to get me to want to stick it out and finish the show, but now I just feel like I wasted my time.
The show dragged on and on and the whole time you're waiting and waiting and trying to figure out how and when they are finally going to have to face some sort of justice or punishment for all of their crimes.
And you keep overlooking one plot hole after another:
How the heck did the FBI not get to Martha in the park?
Why do the main two spies seem to have super strength and invincibility?
If they live in DC for 20 years and do most of their spy work there, how can they NEVER run into somebody that recognizes them from some other mission that they had? Like, a wig and a mustache doesn't mean that people won't be able to recognize you.
Why does that Isreali guy just strangle the blonde woman without listening to WHAT she was lying about? Seemed pretty convenient for moving the plot forward.
(SO much more that I'm forgetting.. maybe for the better)
And they leave so many questions unanswered:
What happens when they get home and with all of the infighting happening in Russia?
Somehow despite covering most of the 80s, the show never addresses Chernobyl or the fall of the Soviet Union or even hint at their existence.
What happens to Oleg? The Isreali guy that was captured? Philip's other son?
And you patiently sit through Pastor Tim and Paige scenes again and again.
And after the main couple do all of those terrible things and ruin all of those lives for like 70 hours, what was their big punishment? Losing Paige? Am I supposed to feel sorry that they had to leave behind two kids that they constantly neglected and deceived?
Somehow, the show dragged on for 70 episodes and still managed to leave a lot of pieces unresolved and the ending was just enough of a letdown where I thought to myself "This is probably the worst drama that I've watched from start to finish". But hey: I didn't quit on the show. So it was good enough to keep me hanging around. But still, to hell with this show. Never wanna watch it again.
I'll Be Next Door for Christmas (2018)
Fun holiday movie for the family
I enjoyed this movie. It's got a good, original story, a funny cast and several "laugh out loud" moments.
