Doomsday Stories (2023)
"Meanie Virus" Anthology.
Five stories (including the wrap-around). Phil Herman and Joel D. Wynkoop rarely disappoint, and this movie is no exception.
I enjoyed all the stories. Good writing, good acting, good cinematography, good music.
Although I enjoyed all the stories, "187 Times" was the stand-out for me. Joel D. Wynkoop's character goes back and forth through time, trying to get his wife her life back. For those that don't know, the wife is played by Joel's real-life wife, Catherine Wynkoop.
The "boy and his dog" episode had a REALLY cute dog. Phil Herman shines as "The Storyteller".
Enough in it to keep you interested, and entertained.
Sequel?
Clown Fear (2020)
Not Too Bad
I think some of these people just hate EVERYTHING. LOL. It's full of BORING female nudity, but, if that's what you like, you'll get to see some.
What *I* liked about it, was the rank humour! I laughed quite a bit. The acting was decent, as was the writing, cinematography, and directing. The female nudity is boring, but the MOVIE is not.
I really don't need to give you an in-depth synopsis: it's about KILLER CLOWNS, so you WILL see blood, gore, and guts.
5th Passenger (2017)
IGNORE the haters
Some people have nothing better to do than to write bad reviews to movies that they have NOT EVEN WATCHED. Was it a GREAT movie? NO. BUT, it was GOOD. It was ENTERTAINING. The acting was decent, as was every other aspect of the film. I don't know why some people just can't accept that not everyone likes the same film, and there is no reason for calling names no matter how you feel about the film. You don't like the film? FINE, just SAY so, no need to be NASTY.
I gave the film a 9 because it was a VALIANT effort, and everything about it rivals MANY bigger-budget movies. It wasn't boring, and that right there gets it at least a 5 in MY book.
Haters are just CHILDISH, so, use your own mind. If you watch it, you have nothing to lose and may be pleasantly surprised, or you might not like it...which is the same for ANY movie that you will EVER watch.
IMDB needs to start cracking down on people that write FAKE low reviews just to bring numbers down. It's PATHETIC really.
The LOW ratings are FALSELY deflated, and most likely all written by the same person. Watch a trailer and decide for yourself. *I* enjoyed it, and so did everyone that *I* know, to varying degrees. No one I know gave it less than 5 stars.
The Absence of Light (2006)
Absence of EVERYTHING
Absence of a GOOD PLOT, absence of decent ACTING, absence of good CINEMATOGRAPHY, absence of decent looking SPECIAL EFFECTS...need I go on? Review MAY contain SPOILERS. The actors appear to be READING their lines, and not very well at that. Most of the "actors" were acting like they were in a SECOND GRADE play. The story appeared to have been written by one of the aforementioned second graders...it's not really all that convoluted...it's just so SIMPLE and DUMB, that a person thinks they must be missing something so they think it is convoluted. Nope it's not, it's EXACTLY as SIMPLE as you think it is. I UNDERSTOOD the "film", that's how i KNOW that it STUNK! MOST of the film just had people sitting around talking(reading their lines), TRYING to look sinister. The narrator was ANNOYING. The "special effects" were LAUGHABLE. I love low budget movies. I also like Carolyn Munro, Tom Savini, Jack Scarry, and Michael Berrymore...just not in THIS movie...you can tell they weren't getting paid, or weren't getting paid much, because neither their hearts NOR their talents were in it. I LOVE Tony Todd...however, he was only adequate in this movie. In fact, Tony Todd's performance is the ONLY reason I gave it 3 stars instead of 1...and Tony was only in it for a whole TWO MINUTES (seriously)! I would suggest to fast forward the DVD to the two minute Tony Todd segment. If I had gone to the theater, and paid more than a DOLLAR to see this "film" I would have been P.O.'D and demanded my money back. Hopefully the people who made this will do better next time.
