A message to all those who question the Holocaust
30 January 2015
As above, a factual and irrefutable documentary about the appalling conditions experienced in concentration camps, and the simply dreadful outcome suffered by so many of those who were interned.

The scenes were graphic and disturbing, and if they seem repetitive, then that is because the atrocities were so commonplace. It was not a performance, the film is a factual record, thus the purpose in making it was to educate those who want to know the truth, not to entertain anyone.

As the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz fell this week, I felt that this film serves to help educate all of us who who were not even born at the time of such events. To help us understand the depths of depravity that mankind is capable of, to help us to understand the dreadful consequences of any kind of racism and to remind us that it shouldn't be necessary to have a war to draw allies together (how many people are aware that a staggering 26M Russians were killed in the process of defeating the Nazis?)

A monumental and depressing work, brought together as a lesson to us all that this must never happen again

Stereotypical rubbish
31 March 2014
This movie patronized black people to such an extent that I found it offensive. e.g Black pilot hangs fluffy dice in cockpit!

If you are able to see past the stereotyping without squirming too much out of sheer embarrassment, it still wasn't a particularly funny movie about an (arguably mildly amusing) pimped up plane with extrovert cabin staff and very little else. Fun? I suppose some people might find that mildly amusing, but it just didn't come together at all well in my opinion

No real plot, dull scripting and mediocre acting made watching this movie a waste of part of my life that I will never recover. I rate this the worst I have seen in a very long time

Complete trash
2 March 2014
The situation was, and still remains, far more complex than is portrayed in a film that predictably portrays one side as being a victor of what constituted a bloody, internecine civil war.

Unfortunately the dewy eyed, Boston Irish sentiment for supposed Irish ancestry and the glamour of the IRA has prevailed over the historical bigotry that lies behind a conflict that can never be won as long as there remains division in Christianity (catholicism and protestantism alike). And, indeed, Rome's refusal to intercede and the alignement of terrorist factions across the world are very much interlinked (Basque separatism, pro-Gaddafi Lybian factions, illicit arms sales, etc) has left us all with a legacy insofar as dealing with urban terrorism.

This film totally fails to take account of the many factors that remain today, and is smug and inaccurate. Yes, I am Irish (Dublin) and brought up as a Catholic.

Family Guy: Life of Brian (2013)

Pain & gradual acceptance - it's about life
11 January 2014
I didn't feel that I wanted to watch an episode widely publicised as portraying Brian's death.

We have lost sufficient family, friends and pets not to need a lesson in grief or any reminder of the intense pain that accompanies loss. However, this was handled in true FG style, and I was therefore pleasantly surprised to see an element of sensitivity creeping in.

Whilst not the best FG episode around, but it is a fair reflection of how terrible life can be, and I felt the message that "you never get over the pain of losing a loved one, it just subsides to the point where you can live with it" was put across extremely well.

Whether it was "trolling" or not, it was successful in attracting publicity to the show. Perhaps it was the writer's way of telling us that the show cannot go on forever?

(Yes, this is written in real English)
