Mickey Mouse Funhouse: The Trail Less Traveled/Vardavar! (2024)
Vardavar is inspirational
What an amazing and wonderful display and huge kudos to Disney and the Funhouse team for portraying such a unique culture that rarely gets highlighted or even mentioned, the Armenians.
The Vardavar episode highlights the Armenian summer holiday of Vardavar which is essentially a holiday where people spray each other with water in a fun and friendly manner.
The episode focuses on Minnie who decides to wear the wrong outfit to the holiday and is not able to enjoy the festivities. Mickey and his friends meet Astghik, which means little star in Armenian. She helps Minnie find a more favorable outfit, an Armenian Taraz so she can get in on the fun!
The entire episode has such great references to Armenian culture and is very well done.
The greatest moment for any young Armenian is to hear the Armenian language and see Astghik represented and embraced by Disney. It is so inspirational for Disney to go all in on this episode and this writer hopes to see more representation and diversity in Disney's cartoons moving forward. Truly a pivotal and historic moment!
Mickey Mouse Funhouse: Santa's Crash Landing (2023)
Another Incredible Mickey Adventure!
This is such a well made episode and our little family had such a good time watching this. This episode is a double-feature and is about Daisy who cannot wait for her Christmas present from Santa. Instead, Santa crash lands near the funhouse and the gang all help Santa deliver presents. The gang travel to familiar worlds and meet familiar characters as they experience Christmas from Santa's perspective. The episode works really well as Daisy learns that giving presents is much better than getting presents. This episode does a great job of capturing the feeling of Christmas and presents the characters in a new fun and exciting way. Definitely recommend!
Mickey Mouse Funhouse: Stink, Stank, Stunk!/Día de los Muertos (2023)
Absolutely love love love the dia de los muertos episode
So excited to see Disney embracing different cultures and bringing them to life in such fun and exciting ways. The Dia de los Muertos episode was about Mickey and friends visiting Mexico city on the day of the dead, a celebration of life and death in Mexico around Halloween time. The episode is about how Daisy is reluctant to participate in the festivities since it reminds her of her grand-duck that has passed away. Though the topic is about death it is done so well and so enjoyable for kids. It refreshing to see such a hard topic taken on for kids yet it was done in a very playful and fun manner. Definitely one of the best episodes!
Mickey Mouse Funhouse: Tooth or Consequences!/The Heroic Games (2023)
The AMAZING Games!
Absolutely love the heroic games and it is my son's favorite episode! He just love the little Saiya character and the story is so fresh and fun. The lesson was so relatable and cute.
It was great to see an episode on the Olympics as its such a highlight and wonderful event for kids to see in a family friendly way. The characters were all supportive of each other and brought each other up in their struggles.
Overall, I really enjoyed this episode with my family. We are big fans of the show and its great to see different cultures embraced. I also learned about a new mythological character I had never known before.
