Loved it

This movie was real worth the wait. It was written well and shot superbly. I was not sure what to expect. The lead actors are incredible and stunning to look at. Very relatable and topical. Not your typical gay movie or even jail movie.

Epic and best of DC Justice League animated
22 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This was one of the best DC animated films EVER. The story was one of the biggest. It definitely is the DC movie for adults that we been waiting for. The dialog and content is definitely not for kids. Not used to seeing the heroes resort to killing but it seems natural in the context finally. My only complaints about the film is that Rebecca Romijn is not the right voice for Lois. I am so familiar with other actress that her voice constant distracted me. I love Rebecca as an actress but this part was not for her. I also wish Cheetah had actually spoke in the film. Seldom are Wonder Woman's rogues given screen time in Justice League films.

All in all the best animated DC Justice League film so far. I will have to watch it again because there are so many details in the film that it's impossible to catch them all the first time.

Terrible
21 November 2020
This movie was terrible. I am a Jeffrey Dean Morgan fan. This best thing about the film was the art mentioned in it. The should have been a tv movie. Don't waste your time.

Not great but important
14 November 2020
This movie is unnecessarily long for no reason. It is not shot in a way to hold your attention. But it is an important film. Seldom do people get to play themselves in a film. I am not sure how the relived this trauma. They were brave to survive it but also in being in the film.

No idea where to start
30 March 2020
I saw the film earlier today and I am still processing my thoughts of it. Because of the coronavirus, the title was moved to VOD early. After trying 3 different occasions to see this film before this pandemic started, each time the universe prevented me from seeing this film. One time it was weather related. Other time, it was scheduling. Last time was because the projector at the theater broke. So I had to see Bad Boys for Life. Well, today I finally saw the film while being comfortable on my sofa at home. Maybe I expected too much. I liked Suicide Squad a lot and I am a comic book/movie fan. While the film is not terrible, it definitely was not great and barely even good. I am not sure what to say about the plot but this one was all over the place. The constant flashbacks became nauseating as well as the voice narration. Used sparingly they can move the story along, but these tools were overused the complete film. Margot Robbie is one of my favorite newer school actresses. She just did not capture the character the same way she did in the first film. She actually became irritating and boring. Not words ever used to describe Harley Quinn. It seemed like she was phoning in the performance. Ewan McGregor was awful. Period. Black Mask is not a well known villian to make us care. Not sure where they got this Huntess from but she can go back. She has been performed much better by the actress on the CW shows. I wanted to care about Cassandra Cain and her plight. But I wasn't at all invested. She was just irritating and we were not given any reason to be invested in her outcome. The only thing I can say that was good about the film was Jurnee Smollett. I have seen her in many films and shows, but nothing quite like this. Her Black Canary was different from past interpretations, not just because she is African American, but she has more nuances in her portrayal of the character. The audience is given some reason to root for her and be invested in her well being. I have not seen Rosie Perez in anything significant in awhile. She tries her best as Renee Montaya, but mostly fall flats. Knowing her reported back injuries from a tv show a few years back, I just kept grimacing every time she is throw into something. The stuntmen and woman definitely had alot to do in the film. There is quite a bit of action and its always good to see women kicking but on screen. Lastly, I wish there had been more references/ easter eggs to other notable Gotham residents. There is much more to Gotham than the Joker and Batman. But after watching this movie, I could be wrong.

Beyond disappointed
19 March 2020
I have seen glaciers move faster than this film. It is odd to me when real life couples do not have chemistry on screen. This is definitely not Mr. and Mrs. Smith. This film is essentially a stylized peep show. The sea and Angelina's wardrobe are the only things impressive. She looks amazing in every outfit. The sea and location are to die for. Cinematography was captivating. But do not watch this film. Ever.

Blake Lively at her best.
7 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I had heard this film was good. I thought it was almost excellent. Blake Lively is at her best of any of her films. Ellen Brynsten is a living legend and raises the quality of any movie she is in. Great supporting cast. The film reminds you of Benjamin Button, but it is unique in it's own plot. Only complaint was that I think it could have been edited to be a bit shorter and also get going a tad faster in the beginning.

Gritty and slow moving but worth it.
13 October 2017
I was not sure what to think about this film at first. It moves at a really slow pace. The two lead actors are amazing! They really save this movie from being a dud. I almost gave up about half way. It's hard to understand the motivation of the characters. The third act is what makes this movie stretch from mediocre to superb. Without spoiling anything it's worth the first two thirds of the movie just for the ending.

Took My Breath Away
24 October 2015
This film is the film I wish a 16 year old me had seen. The movie is a love story full of hope and romance. The direction is superb! You will find yourself riding the roller coaster of emotions. The innocence and rawness of the film makes you remember your first kiss and first time falling in love. Ghilherme Lobo's emotions as Leonardo showcases his skill. He is a really good actor. Daniel Ribeiro has made one of the best young love stories on film that I have ever seen. I am glad I ran across this film. I think it is universal in emotion and feeling. Even made me check out the short film that Daniel Ribeiro originally made. It is pretty good as well.

A Very Good Action Film
16 July 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I usually enjoy Dwayne Johnson films. But after seeing the other recent "Legends of Hercules" film with Kellan Lutz, which was terrible, I was skeptical. However, this film is actually very good. This film takes a different approach to Hercules than normal. It made for a good film that is different than other versions. The film is packed with action and fight scenes which are mandatory in this genre. I enjoyed the battle scenes. The biggest surprise was the film did not feature any Gods or Goddesses, which seem to me always are a requirement for films about Greek/Roman mythology and heroes. But this film actually did not need Zeus nor Hera. It is a solid film.

Sidenote: Dwayne Johnson and Jason Momoa probably go up for the same roles. I think Dwayne would have made a better Conan if that is ever redone. But this kinda film is his wheelhouse.

Tyler Perry's Best So Far
14 July 2015
I was not sure what to expect. I had heard great reviews from friends. I finally watched it on DVD. This is by far, Tyler Perry's best work. FCG is one of the best ensemble films I have seen in awhile. It was great to see Whoopi back on screen. Thandie Newton is always brilliant. Loretta Divine and Phylicia Rashad are always scene stealers (but in a good way.) Kimberly Elise is one of the most underrated actresses of her generation. I am obsessed with Kerry Washington. Anika does not get the film props that she deserves. I also appreciated Janet. I am a huge fan. But like many other reviewers, I could definitely see Robin Givens, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Dawn Lewis, or Vivica Fox doing the role more justice. Omari Hardwick has gone on to a great career after this film. The film is an emotional roller coaster filled with issues we can all relate to in some form. I hope Tyler finds more material of substance like this to make films. For those that only think Madea and comedy is his niche, this film will make you see just how great he can be.

Disappointed
28 June 2015
While I did not read the book that the film is based, this movie was not what I hoped for. Part of it reminded me of an updated "Lord of the Flies." The movie just never really took off nor really went anywhere. It just did not capture my interest. I also expected more time spent in the actually maze. I will give the actors praise for trying, but something was off in the story/script. After seeing "The Giver" and "Ender's Game" recently, they all seem like basically the same movie. I have yet to see any of the Divergent or Hunger Game's movies, but I would bet again this same kind of film seems to be all over the box office. I am sure a sequel is in the works, but I will not be seeing it.

Amazing and Clever
28 June 2015
I had heard SO much about this film. It lived up to it's buzz. The movie is clever, funny, suspenseful, erotic, and heartbreaking at times. Rosamund Pike deserves all the reviews that she received for this film. She chews up the scenery. While Ben Affleck is often miscast in films, he is perfect here. It has been a long time since I have enjoyed him in a film. The second and third acts really give him material to sink his teeth in. The movie had so many twists and turns, which I love in movies. Gone Girl is one of the best movies I have seen recently. David Fincher takes you on a ride that will stay with you long after the credits end.

One of Tom's Best in Awhile
22 June 2015
I was not sure what to expect given some of Tom Cruise's recent films. I had heard they were working on a sequel. That made me interested in checking out this film. Well, hands down one of Tom's best films in a long long time! Great plot and lots of action. Rosamund Pike was a treat. Her sarcasm to Jack made me laugh out loud a few times. By total coincidence, I had finally seen "Gone Girl" the evening before. I see why she is starting to become a household name. A very well crafted film. If you like films with twists and turns, then this is a good one to see. Looking forward to the sequel. No idea why more people did not check it out.

Superb Film
8 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Well I have been trying to see this film for some time now. It was worth the wait. Ava DuVernay did a great job with the film. It takes you through emotions without feeling like preachy or force feed. The characters are people you feel like you know. Salli Richardson-Whitfield always impresses me, but this is her best work to date. The actress should be working more. I am glad to see her on "Being Mary Jane" on BET. Maye's arc is relatable and genuine. You feel her when she says "Who will take care of me?" Omari Hardwick is the "it" man in urban films at the moment. He is great to look at but he is becoming a true actor. Tanya Boyd has been around for along time. It is a wonder she is not a household name. Even though the film is a feature length film, it left me wanting me more like a short film does. This movie shows you how an independent film with mostly dialogue can take you places that your heart forgot. This movie is unlike anything I have seen in some time.

Disappointed
19 February 2015
After seeing the trailers for this film, I had high expectations. Considering the cast of all stars, I knew this movie would be good. I can not tell you how wrong I was. This film wasted the talent of all the actors involved. I am a Javier Bardem fan. The movie made no sense. It took too long to get going. Even after if finally got going, it went nowhere! I had more questions than anything else by the end. Cameron Diaz looks the best she has ever looked!!! I have not enjoyed her in a movie in awhile. I had not seen Rosie Perez in a film in forever. The graphic violence would be excusable if the plot worked. I just found the film flaccid. A waste of time. Ridley Scott should be ashamed.

The Equalizer (2014)

Solid Good Film
29 November 2014
Equalizer was a bit of an unexpected surprise. First, I would never bet against Denzel. I usually enjoy all his films. I was on skeptical since Antonio Fuqua has not really won me over as a director. Unlike the majority of people I did not like "Training Day." Therefore I was a bit skeptical of the re-teaming of Denzel with Antonio. Fortunately I was pleasantly surprised. This movie was really good. Denzel has been on a role lately with his foray into more action oriented films lately. He plays the character with such understated poise and humility. The hand to hand combat was great. The movie has a message but does not hit you over the head with it. Marton Csokas was stunningly evil. He is the kind of villain like Anthony Hopkins....quiet but lethal. Even when he is not doing anything he just makes your fearful of what he could do. I would love if Denzel finally gets his own franchise since this could easily have a sequel. Overall great movie and worth the price of admission. Perfect casting!!!

Not Good
22 September 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Beyond disappointed with this film. The DVD cover looks intriguing. Unfortunately the film wasn't. The characters did not make much sense. I found myself having questions and more questions as the narrative just did not make sense. For example it was not clear why the character changed the sheets during sex. The main character using drugs after having so many issues with his partner having a drug problem made no sense. I just did not get through this film easily. It was difficult to make sense of this relationship, this film and the storyline. The character did not engage me to want to root for them or even really care. Definitely a missed opportunity considering the themes the film explores. I also found the movie was almost all white except one black minor character. The film did not at all reflect the diversity of the city it is set in.

Justice League: Doom (2012 Video)
10/10
One of the best DC Animated
16 September 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This was one of the best DC/WB films and that says a lot because I enjoy almost all of them. This was even better than All Star Superman. The idea and concept of this movie is interesting in a very good way. What if the villains find the ways to kill each member of the Justice League? Initially I was looking for villains like Riddler, Joker, Lex Luthor, Sinestro and Grod. But the movie works without those particular villains. The action and animation was superb. Most of the actors are the usual voices of the respective character. Cast selection and voices are excellent. I had been waiting to see Doom and it was everything I thought it would be.

Laughing Good Time
9 September 2014
Wanderlust is one of the funniest Jennifer Anniston movies ever! I was a bit skeptical because I seldom find her films that funny besides "The Break Up.""Object of My Affection" was pretty good too. This was by far one of her best films. Paul Rudd(George) and Jennifer(Linda) work well together. The heavy lifting is done mostly by the supporting cast. Ken Marino as George's successful brother was a riot. George's wife played by Michaela Watkins, was killing me with her one liners. If you want to laugh hard then this film is it. Justin Theroux as Seth was priceless. The hippie commune is just like a mental hospital run by patients. Malin Åkerman as Eva was hysterical too.

Excellent Film
8 September 2014
I had heard so much about this film being excellent that I was skeptical. But in this instance, this film lived up to the hype. The acting is excellent. The story is so believable and slice of life. Richard Jenkins is always a pleasure to watch. He plays Walter with the finesse and sublime precision that only he could. I actually was surprised more so by the other actors. Danai Gurira stars in one of my favorite shows, The Walking Dead. Seeing Danai in another role made me appreciate her all the more. She and Haaz Sleiman are actually what give this film heart and seeing their characters adjust to Walter. The friendship between Tarek and Walter is the catalyst for the film. But Hiam Abbass steals the movie from everyone. No idea why I had never heard of her. But her "Mouna" with all the nuances of a mother fearing for her son is what everyone should have been talking about. This movie was a rare occasion when I was left wanting to know more and could have watched another 30 mins to see what happens next for these characters.

One of TP's best!!
8 September 2014
Warning: Spoilers
No idea why this movie bombed at the box office. One possible reason is that it is not full of many household names. There are not any movie stars in it. Maybe the title or the marketing, but this is hands down one of TP's best films ever along with "The Family That Preys." The acting is top notch. Nia Long always delivers! The story and characters are real. The movie does not have the Madea character in it and maybe that is why fans did not support it. I was glad to see the film absent of some of the "coonery" that sometimes happens in TP films. I was pleasantly surprised at how good this movie actually is. It is a feel good movie. Plenty of male eye candy too. There is a scene with Nia Long's character and her son outside the school that will rip your heart out! I hope Tyler Perry makes more films like this!!!
