Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)
Something died inside of me...
I am a fan of Star Wars, not a die hard fan (didn't read the comics and books), nut I love the Star Wars universe, the characters. I even like the prequel so I don't qualify as a difficult viewer.
But after watching Star Wars: the Last Jedi, I deeply feel disrespected, betrayed and disappointed. This is the worst star wars movie ever made.
It hurts me to write this but it is the truth.
The movie is wrong on so many levels:
1. The loopholes:
- The first scene with the bomber is not logical. Bombs fall because of gravity, there is no gravity in space. The women who triggers the bomb drop is somehow able to breath in space.
- Leia surviving the blast, then surviving in outer space, flying back like superman, how do they even open the door to get her without getting sucked into space ?
- Finn somehow became an expert in technology and physics and knows the exact location of the most secret tracking device of the First Order ship. He was sent as a stormtrooper on Jakku, then was a dustman on the secret base of the first order and now we learn that he also was a cleaner on the ship....
- Finn's mission in the casino is completely useless.
- Finn & Rose somehow are the only ones to survive the big explosion. How convenient?
- Snoke is supposedly one of the most powerful dark sith, but gets killed with a simple trick. We learn nothing about him. How did he manipulate Ben Solo to join the dark side of the force?
- People in the movie use the force without training, easily. Why did they train so hard in the first movies ?? Rey can lift a mountain, the kid at the end can grab a broom, etc...
- Yoda manages to throw lightning into a tree...
- Most importantly, if you can throw a ship into speed light to destroy another fleet, why they didn't do this in the beginning with the remaining ships, instead of letting the first order destroy them ? Why they didn't do it on the death star in the previous episodes??
2. The misplaced humor: Luke drinking Milk, throwing the lightsaber, etc... They are unnecessary. Many elements are just here to seduce a new generation of viewers who actually don't need these elements to like Star Wars.
3. Character development is completely inconsistent. When I watched the Force Awakens, when we understand that the Last Hope will be centered around Luke, I was thrilled and eager to see what he has became. But Rian Johnson completely missed the point. Luke would have never tried to kill Ben Solo. Luke was the type of person who tried to bring Dark Vador to the light. Luke was the type of person who was always willing to help his friends and family. They completely missed his psychology.
When you add all these elements together, you get a movie which has a beginning and an ending with no middle. Yes it is entertaining if you like watching space battles. But the story is pointless, not logical.
Why didn't you develop more on Snoke's origins, how he created the First order, the Rey/Kylo connection, Luke training Rey ?? The Jedi religion ?
In any case, I couldn't mention everything that is so wrong in this movie, but many fans are frustrated and disappointed. I will try to forget I ever watched this episode and probably won't ever pay to watch a Star Wars again. If Disney have just a little bit of care about their customers, instead of hiring fake reviewers, they should hire someone who will read and compile all the complains on the review websites, and correct their mistakes. But I am dreaming...
Dying of the Light (2014)
Worse movie I had seen in a while
Well, let me save you 94mins of your life: DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE.
I went to see this movie as I had 2 hours to kill before a flight, and I had absolutely no expectations about it. I did not watch the trailer, but I usually like Nicolas Cage's movies.
What a mistake... This was maybe the worst movie I had seen in the past 5 years. I cannot understand how Nicolas Cage could accept such a role. There were so many ways to turn the movie into a decent one, but I believe that neither the actors nor the director tried their best to make it work.
- Terrible plot. The story does not make sense and has absolutely no interesting part. This movie is boring to death. No entertainment, no suspense, no twists.
- Acting is completely off. If you like Nicolas Cage, do yourself a favor and don't watch this movie. I mean come on, anyone could have done better.
- 94mins, 3mins action. Seriously guys?
Bottomline, this was an horrible movie. I would rather eat my vomit than watching this again. That's how much I hated this movie.
