Mickey Rooney's performance is what makes this film terrific. I'm always amazed at the talent of Mickey Rooney. In my opinion he is a much underrated performer. He could do it all.Make you laugh, make you cry, make you jump for job. Mickey Rooney is the star of this movie, Men Of Boys Town. His performance is tops. He ease and dramatic and comedy talents are well on display here. In my opinion, he far outshines Spencer Tracy in both Boys Town and Men Of Boys Town. Mickey should have one the Oscar for this one. If you want to see more great acting by Mickey Rooney check out Young Tom Edison, Drive A Crooked Road, Huckleberry Finn etc. You wil be glad you did. Mickey Rooney, forever may he shine. He was and is the tops. The King Of Hollywood!

This movie is perfect for the nations #1 box office star of 1939. No wonder the public adored him! Mickey Rooney simply stated is the best actor that has ever lived. Mickey gives a down to earth and lovely performance.!!! The movie is very true to the book. If you loved the book, you will love this movie. It's wonderful!!!!!! Another great movie that was perfect for Mickey Rooney was Young Tom Edison. If you love him as Huck, then check out Young Tom Edison! Another Blockbuster performance by the MASTER performer. Mickey Rooney, may you live on in the hearts of all who love you! Also for your Rooney fans check out Boy's Town and The Human Comedy. Anyone who is a fan of mickey rooney will love this film. He is great in it! It's one of his funnist 1950's roles. In my opinion Mickey Rooney should have been #1 in the 50's too. The man was sizzeling with talent. He truly is one of the best actors that has ever lived, if not the best. This movie is great! The story is slight, but the acting of Mickey Rooney is worth a watch. Eddie Bracken is not the greatest actor and Mickey Rooney far outshines him. Mickey Rooney's love interest is typical of a girl he would have loved in real life. Tall and pretty! I would highly recommend this film to Rooney fans and to fans of cute, clean comedies of the 1950s! Enjoy!

Hello Mickey Rooney fans! If you love Mickey Rooney and have not seen this film, I highly recommend it. Mickey Rooney was only 12 years old in the movie and given second billing. Mickey Rooney is King Charles and his pal is Tom Mix (The cowboy star) Mickey has a big role in this film and is so adorable. Anyone could tell the Mickey Rooney was destined for stardom. Not only just for stardom but to be the BIGGEST star of the world for 3 years in a row. In my opinion Mickey Rooney perhaps is the most talented star of Hollywood's Golden Years and he's still working! GO MICKEY! If you love westerns and Mickey Rooney please buy this film. You can find it on ebay quite a bit! Get a copy, you will love little Mickey!

Mickey Rooney truly shines in this film. Outshining top billed Judy Garland. If you are a fan of Mickey and Judy you will love this movie. And of course, if you love horses you will be thrilled. Mickey Rooney playes a tough Jockey who can really win those races. That is until his father pretends to be sicks and tricks Mickey into throwing a race. His father will make you angry throughout the entire film. Mickey Rooney will break your heart and Judy will bring joy as she sings Got A Pair Of New Shoes. Mickey Rooney, in my opinion, is probably the most talented actor to ever live. This is a very enjoyable film to watch and is highly recommended. Catch it on TCM the next time it's aired. You'll love it!

This is a great movie. The one and only film to starr Jackie Cooper, Mickey Rooney and Freddie Bartholomew together. Mickey Rooney in my opinion steals the show from both of them. The scene where he hears his father being electrocuted is so dramatic. There is just something about the life that Mickey Rooney adds to a movie. His tough but gentle demeanor. Those dramatic facial expressions. The way he can make you laugh and tear your heart out at the same time. If anyone watches a Mickey Rooney movie and and says he cannot act don't know what acting is. Mickey Rooney can do it all and is still doing it today! LONG LIVE THE MIGHTY MICK! This is a great film Very well acted. The story is endearing! You will not be disappointed. It will be playing on TCM later this year (2005).

I saw this movie a long long time ago and have been looking for a copy on VHS. I truly enjoyed this movie with Mickey Rooney. He sings and dances and it very funny in this film. Mickey Rooney was always a underrated actor but never has there been a more talented man in Hollywood. He has earned many deserved awards during his long and industrious career however. This is one of the sweetest movies ever made. Grab a box of tissues because you will surely need them! Mickey Rooney is in top form here. Proving once again his dramatic and comic skill! The man was and is a genius. In my opinion there has never been a better actor. Just as Carl Reiner, Cary Grank, Douglas Fairbanks Jr. or John Frankenheimer. Mickey Rooney was the master of cryer as well. He can tear you heart out just as easily as he can make you laugh. I'm not a big Wallace Berry fan but he's great in this film. If you love horses this movie is for you. In my opinion it's as great as National Velvet or the Black stallion. Both starring Mickey Rooney. Also, another great horse film starring Mickey Rooney is Down The Stretch from 1936 or 37. Anyhow, this film is highly recommended for all Rooney, Berry or horse fan! Enjoy!

This is one of the cutest comedies made in the 1930s. In fact, it's one of the best entrys to the Andy Hardy series. Mickey Rooney was in top form in this film. Proving why he was one of the most loved actors of the day. This was made the same year as his movie Boy's Town (Great film starring Mickey Rooney as well) The script and writing where simple. These movies were supposed to be simple to show was the American family was typically like in the 1930s and 40s. The scrips were NOT supposed to be GONE WITH THE WIND!!!! Anyhow, the acting was great! Mickey was hilarious as usual and Judy Garland was wonderful! All in all I think this is a terrific movie. One you will never get tired of watching time and time again! Highly recommended! Mickey ROONEY ROCKS!

I loved him in the Andy Hardy Films, Young Tom Edison, Killer McCoy, The Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney musicals. He was and is so talented. Hollywood will never know another Mickey Roooney. I just got done watching this film and i love Mickey Rooney in this one. He plays a rather grown up and mature character, which is wonderful to see. He is so handsome in this film. Mickey's acting was tremendous. He's totally amazing.;) i love the whole film. This movie is well worth seeing if you are a Rooney fan such as myself. I also like Ann Blythe in this film. She was good as Mickey's girlfriend. She looks like the type of girl Mickey would have fell for in real life. Tall and very pretty.;) I do not see why MGM could not have given Mickey better parts. His talent has not boundaries. I think the talent of the MGM script writers were where the boundaries lye. Anyhow, this is good one.

I love Mickey Rooney in this movie. The people who have said he overacts in this film are not correct. Rooney never overacts. He puts his whole heart and soul into a picture. What's wrong with that?? Anyhow, this film is very nice. Mickey does and excellent job. The color and the set up are beautiful. This is truly another great MGM musicals. I personally like this movie better than Ah Wilderness because it showcases more of Mickey. I'm a Mickey Rooney fan and I think he was one of the most talented actors of Hollywood. I truly enjoy his work and appreciate his talent!

I would say this was the greatest movie I've ever seen. OK, I'm very partial to Mickey Rooney as an actor. In my book, there is NONE GREATER! HE WAS THE BEST!

This movie is so peaceful compared to today's garbage. What a relief it was. I would highly recommend this movie to good Christian people who would like to see a good clean, family movie. Most people cannot enjoy this movie because it don't have sex, blasphemy and the like.

OK, yes it is sentimental....and may I ask, since when was there something wrong with that????!!! Mickey Rooney was so cute in this too! He was the best! 10 STARS FOR THE MIGHTY MICK!
