Pose (2018–2021)
10/10
A stunning wonderful show of humanity
6 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, Steven Canals"Pose" is about the underground NYC drag culture, but is also so much more than that. A real movement that gained momentum in the 1980s, this drama series showcases this dark decade, exploring themes of AIDS, segregation, death, and desperation. However there is also joy, hope, and explorations of how wonderful humanity is in the darkest of times. It also gets into how damaging BIG PHARMA has always been.

This is a series about a found family that provides support to LGBTQ teens thrown in the street by their birth parents.

Making television history, "Pose" features the best possible cast, among other amazing thespians, the two main stars Dominique Jackson and Billy Porter giving the series memorable moments of acting, and inducing goosebumps with their singing and dancing. It's all the more impressive when you remember that some of the characters and stories are actually real.

It's heartfelt and heartbreaking, it's painful and joyous and encompasses all the feelings a human is capable of experiencing. Watching this masterpiece show had been a celebration of life.

This series not only is entertaining, but also gives hope.

A massacred
28 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I like watch the bad guys being shot, in saying this I also do have limits of how many people can be shot and broken, continuously.

If you like it, this is your movie, where half of Bangladesh population are killed by Chris Hemsworth, and have to look at my phone with boredom, and I do like Chris Hemsworth.

Then is 5 minutes plot.

What remain In my mind is tratatatratata sound of the power guns.

Some actions are definitely brilliant, but that in 95% of the movie is more like watching someone play a videogame than a movie.

I hope, for who love this type of movie, that in the second one they'll explain how Chris survive. The only curiosity.

unnecessarily cruel
2 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
A movie that could have been show a side of the pain of Norma Jean, cruelly shows a side of the story for a chauvinist point of view, with too intense unnecessarily cruel scenes, with no respect for Merlyn, yet, Ana De Armas brilliant acting, fill the role perfectly and made Norma Jean solitude painfully real. The all movie could have done without a feto who talk and graphic picture of a unborn baby.

Instead few minutes of positive scene could have been added.

Well I guess in the end of the day, that was the maschilista world many actress and actors had to deal and being trough, but having the childhood of Norma, had a price. Her sanity.

Again few scene were unnecessary!

The eternal dies
27 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Absurd story, who wrote it is definitely misogynist.

Again a gif who created the universe again a man.

The all story once you read the first sentence lost all interest. Given a chance do not go better, gods being giving the role to help humanity against ... aliens, only called differently, and again they have to kill then all because the creator says so, again

Therefore is like watching a children book.

Always one step ahead
21 April 2021
I was expecting a dark revenge movie, instead I was pull into a whirlpool of steps and memory that didn't leave me time to breathe. And as soon as a the questions start formulating in my mind was immediately rendered absurd by a word, a gesture, a sound before I finish it formulated it, surprising me on so mane level, Always One Step Ahead.

In a movie with a new way of a dark, funny, captivating triller, where, Carey Mulligan is given us the most memorable performances of a woman who froze her life after her best friend died, pretending to be drunk and attracting sexual predators, distributing her own personal punishment.

Masterfully direct by Emerald Fennell, where only a woman could give the emotions feeling by watching a movie, that have a subject that become so pressing everyday!

Multi nominating oscars for: Best Picture, Best directing, Best Actress, Best Original Screenplay, Best Costume Design Best Film Editing, and it deserve them all, in taking into consideration the co-nominated I'm not going to be surprise if the movie will get a Oscar for directing to Emerald Fennell, and original screenplay.

Disappointment
29 March 2021
With such big characters, Orson Wells nevertheless, and such a intense period, as well as fine director's and cast, it's a possibility that the movie was made in a bohemian environment, taken away from the movie the power to invest the audience, surely lost themself several time as I was.

I couldn't wait to see it, the making of "Citizen Canes" wow....pity, an opportunity is gone!

Harriet (I) (2019)

Another hero to learn from
4 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Someone wrote that Harriet is depicted as a superheroes, well this woman safe one by one so many people, isn't this what superhero do? Sometimes I come across A story I don't know, after I approach the movie with: "Not another story of slavery", but then I can't take my eye out of the screen. And I'm thankful to be part of another strong woman who left her name in the book of history as a hero. Cynthia Erivo, initially with a blandly acting, arrive to a superb interpretation of the strong character of Harriet with a crescendo. Reaching the higher performance for the Oscar she is nominated for. Of corse there is violence, but is more of an action and adventure movie, which I believe pleased the audience with the rebellion that in the end is also a victory written in history. Brilliant!

Is just a movie.....or not?
2 February 2020
I watch this 2011 movie, I didn't even know existEd until it was suggested by a virologist in an interview regarding the coronavirus. In it, he called this movie "pretty accurate".

This movie is based on research to achieve accuracy and avoid becoming another scient fiction absurdity.

The scariest aspect of this story was its realism.

Even though, I do not believe we are going suffer as badly as the people in this story, it's uncanny in how many points it fits within our reality.

We are watching as fiction in Minneapolis, when it's also the reality in Wuhan today, having gone into complete lockdown and becoming ground zero for the modern virus.

The reporter full of BS - depicted by Jude Law in a great performance- is what we're having to deal with now every day, with fake news and conspiracy theories turning the world to chaos.

Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Gwyneth Paltrow are a few of the big artists that give this movie real dramatic prowess. The POV from the WHO and CDC is enthralling, as they track down the infected agains the clock, coming up against twists and turns along the way.

The Two Popes (2019)
8/10
Two powerful actor for two powerful Popes
21 January 2020
More than religious The Two Popes is historical. A brilliant duet of two consumed actors Anthony Hopkins, as Pope Benedict XVI l, and Jonathan Pryce as Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, later Pope Francis, bring for all audience to enjoy, a majestic story of one, in this case two, powerful leader in the world. Two popes. One conservative, and the other one with more futurist vision of the church. The director, Fernando Meirelles transform those powerful men, after the investiture, in a more human version, stripping them of sanctity and give them a more suitable pedestal, a more important moral stand because is build on a fallible past, and is pivotal to the roles both, the actors and the real Popes. The director interchange tense scenes with relaxing and humorous one. The multilingual, a necessity, insert artistically and true to the story is just fantastic. The movie is enjoyable and instructive, I suggest you to eat pizza before or after it. 3 Academy awards nominations. I give 8 stars

Wild West with a twist
18 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Tarantino violence is cathartic. The sort of scene, that after a very tense period, made the viewer jumping up and punching fends the air. The horror of the action and consequences is empowered under Tarantino, who do not direct, but choreographs a dance of flash, knifes, bloods, flames. Margot Robbie beautifully interprets Sharon Tate in her short Hollywood life, wife of a controversial Director Roman Polanski, a young actress at the start of her career, who was consider a sweet lovely person by all in Hollywood, and was tragically killed along with some guess, in her 9th month of pregnancy, in a brutal gruesome attack in her house, by drug addict of a Satanist cult. Partial of Tate story evolved and cross the acting career of a struggle actor, portraits skilfully by Leonardo Di Caprio, and his stage stunt, magically performed by the consumed acting of Brad Pitt, who unsurprisingly made so easy every scene he play. The three stories cross while the audience are all rapt by every frame, trying to find Tarantino personal addition that are part of his cinematographic style and signature. Tarantino and the cast gave "Once upon a time in Hollywood" so much more, taking highly skilled cast across a changeover of a cinema era. The movie have already won golden globe awards and is on his way to get very deserved academy awards within the 10 nomination. Utterly engage, amusement guarantee .

The brilliant idea of the screenplay take the soul of one of millions, in a society, which try to grin the poor soul already down, in the huge injustice society machine, and the director and cast unfolded violently but poetically in front of our eyes his transformation in every sequences in a heartless criminal, ladies and gentlemen The Joker, mastered by the fine acting of Joaquin Phoenix. Everything in this movie excelled including unexpected twist in the stories. 9 deserved nominations. 8 stars

A masterpiece portrays another masterpiece
15 January 2020
To be able to walk in the shoes of a great artist you need another great artist. And here is where casting made the best match. Relieve the painful life of a child force on the stage with pills and drugs, unable to live without and mess up the life of a woman and a singer bringing her to a premature end. Renèe Zellweger is Judy. And if she make us uncomfortable means she strikes, as a human Judy and as singer Judy. She is nominated and sure she can win

Under a regime everybody act
14 January 2020
When I approached to see it I was feeling cranky that I had to stomach another Hitler movie, which it is, but it's also a parodie, the hero is a 10 year old boy who's character is brilliantly portrayed by Roman Griffin Davis, who try to deal with his nazi brainwashed being and love. You cannot laugh never at this kind of parodies, after all is another story, probably true, but you can smile and in the end feel relieved. Good cast, it give a glimpse in the world of general psychopathy of a nation under regime, where everybody has to act the role or being killed, but most of all, when children are used to destroy as weapon, the director master the absurdity of the horror into a fine amusement, Hopefully to let hatred knows how good a satire they can be. And after all is a story that, despite being another hazy regime story, must be told, again, especially now.

Racing with a soul
12 January 2020
As a Ferrari fan I was pleasantly on the side of a Ford driver, all because of the soul Christian Bale was able to portrayed as Ken Miles, a sports car racing engineer who's hart was beaten in unison with an engine of a race car. Aside of the fact that he lose several kg for the role, but being a method actor it cling a viewer to the screen. Excitement and rage can be feel in every scene. The passion take us to the circuit and made us push the accelerator. What I miss is the surprise of the plot since I knew the story. The cast is brilliant, and finally in one Americans movie I have the pleasure to see casted Italians brilliants actor for the roles of the Ferrari Team, speaking perfect Italian, as oppose as being disappointed when they cannot. This year oscar is going to be a difficult choice.

Surprising
12 January 2020
Surprising! A cinematographic gift. Every time I was expecting to be bore, the writer, the director, the actors, the cameramen surprise me. Witty and with craftsmanship the characters are unfold in the chaos of the incertitude of the age, in a point of life, when two student finish the first big round and realise that life is what they believe, they had left behind the books. The series of events lead a clarity of what they already knows but need to be experienced to move in the next stage of their life. I enjoy this movie as a new experience in a old genre, free of political innuendo, like a fairy tale in the real world.

Rational and belief duel
21 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
How the church get in the way of human evolution how the human evolution is easily ignore for the sake of a religion. Youngest struggle by imploding and self-destruction try to put together the necessity to make the world better place and the litany of a god. This two scenario drive insane the already physically sick Protestant pastor Toller, in a master performance by Ethan Hawke in writer-director Paul Schrader's 2018 drama "First Reformed" A shocking ending just plays with a viewer mind who could asked what they just watched, realizing, once the shock dissolve, the deep of the story.

A gallery into Vincent life
17 February 2019
Between brushes Willem Dafoe give us Van Gogh, and the urge to go and see his painting, by delivery intensely Vincent's madness. Julian Schnabel try to frame Vincent view of his surrendering, by add some fuzzy scene, but succeed only partially, yet excelling in giving us a portrait of the artist. the heavy pushing on the piano is too cacophonous and disturbing the view of the movie.

How to made art of a con art
17 February 2019
Melissa McCartney is, in my opinion, the one who deserve the Oscar for best actress this year. She majestically portraits an Orwellian writer, in the spiral word she auto-created. Soft poetic yet rough and manipulative it glue you to the screen. The poster should receive an Oscar as well. I wonder.....

'Cold twisted hearted' movies
16 February 2019
It's a shredd of the unfortunate political American scenario, crafted In this definitely a must watch movie. Many spectators will feel violated in the core of any genuine hope to any future. The characters, mastered by the best thespians, slowly, merciless, unveil, what many knew and what many fear; the big political game shape into any individual power absolutely corrupt. And powerless is the feeling left to the end with a unheathy admiration for Vice mastermind and 'cold twisted hearth', brilliantly portrays by Christian bale.

Queen let themselves die by limited Freddy
2 November 2018
I waited for this for very long, and then I waited until the last note and the first light. Yes, I wanted to jump up and down at the power of Malek portrait of Freddy larger than life stage craft. Yes I crying at the intensity of how Malek stole the soul of Freddy. But I still waited for what the Queen hide about Freddy. Someone said is because is Bohemia Rhapsody that represent them, No the song was written music and lyric by Freddy who direct them into it. Someone said was portrait the Queen as whole. No, the Queen were Freddy Mercury. That's what has being missing, Freddy Mercury was larger then life showman, artist, voice, talented musician, and this piece is missing in the movie. The Queen effort to be bigger than that reduce their value as a band support of such an icon! But the movie is very much worth, and shouldn't be dismiss. The directing is brilliant, the picture is art, the editing is a masterpiece. Those effort should get at least some nomination as well as the great talent of Malek. The casting is superior.

I rated Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) 8/10 #IMDb
