KILD TV (2016)
A Bloody Good Who-Dunit
Well folks, this time of year looks to bring festivals and awards for the film KILD TV. With Horror Hound and Toronto behind us, the film now moves on to the Legless Corpse, Crimson Screen, Crypticon Seattle and Horror Hotel Film Fests. And, along the way, the film has captured Best Film, Best Actor and Best Effects awards. Make sure to catch the next Horror Hound event -- they're a blast. As for KILD TV, Horror Hound Magazine says: "The setting, a late-night horror movie program on a local television station. The cast and crew are the only ones in the building
or, are they? Anyone who grew up a fan of horror-hosted programming is going to love KILD TV. Dr. Proseco, played by D.C. Douglas (Apocalypse Kiss), is your guide into B-horror movie madness. However, all is not well at the KILD studio. A murder story being investigated by one of the news crew bodes unfortunate fates for the horror host crew. As the dead bodies of crew and other building employees are being discovered, the crew attempts to flee, but are locked in the building. The telephone lines have been cut
and cell phones don't work inside the building. Their only form of communication is the camera and the viewing audience. Yet, attempts to make a cry for help that include broadcasting scenes of the victims all seem like part of the act. Can they convince the viewers to call the police before it's too late? KILD TV is exactly what the great majority of horror fans want in a horror film
interesting characters, a mysterious killer, just the right amount of gore, suspense, and a little sex appeal. And, much like its predecessors in the who-done-it sub genre (Urban Legend, Scream, etc), it's a wild ride that ebbs and flows between comedy and tragedy. It's quirky and fun. Plus, paying homage to the reason why so many of us are horror fans
horror hosts
makes KILD TV unique.
Great storytelling, great performances, great production
a must see for horror fans. KILD TV will make its world premiere at HorrorHound Weekend in Cincinnati, OH during the HorrorHound Film Fest. You can also follow KILD TV on Facebook at the Eye Candy page, https://www.facebook.com/Eye-Candy and at www.kildmovie.com
Detention (2010)
Good Ole Fashion 80s Style Horror
"Detention" is a really well made small B horror film, taking its cues from traditional 80s genre stuff and the more contemporary Asian horror elements -- and by that I mean, a lot of really weird, bizarre and strange stuff happens without a whole lot of explanation. It asks you, the audience, to go along for the ride and its a fun one at that.
Its a story of revenge. Somebody is out to kill all the children of a group of parents who, back in the 1970s, were involved in a "prank gone bad" leading to the grisly death of another teenager - Gabriel. It's Gabriel's mother who is out for blood. The doomed teenagers all end up in detention during the worst storm of the year -- in fact, the storm is so effective that it becomes one of the better characters in the film.
They are trapped in detention with no power, manage to escape but this leads to them being stalked and bumped off, one by one, by horrific supernatural forces that haunt the high school. One even gets possessed and joins in the mayhem. And did we mention that Gabriel's mother was all along a ghost? Still with me.
So - all bets are off. The production credits are all solid from James Hickox's directing to the dark and eerie photography to the creepy visual effects to the somber music score. It must also be noted that, as the high school principal, this was one of David Carradine's final film performances. The rest of the cast is also quite good led by Michael Mitchell who plays "crazy" Sam. 7 Stars.
Little *ucker (2010)
Total Knock Out Stoner Horror Comedy
This is a no holds barred stoner comedy with a good dash of horror gore thrown in. Crazy mayhem with solid performances by a host of LA's very best stand up comics. Its the story of Chuck and Lloyd who, on their day job as exterminators, find this really weird small creature in an abandoned building. Like anybody would do, they take him home to become just one of the gang. Later they attend a costume party (Little F doesn't need one) and that's where they find out that, when the booze and the pot run dry, the little guy goes nuts! I ain't spoiling this one for you -- just imagine what happens. Did I forget to mention lots of babes, boobs and blood? Little F*cker just played at the 4th Annual Pollygrind Festival in Las Vegas and its Midnight Screening on Oct. 10 went over like gangbusters! -- the best Midnight of the festival according to the organizers. No wonder, going in, Vegas Seven Magazine named it one of the five "must see" films being shown. (Update! Little F*cker just named Best Dark Comedy, Best Visual Effects and "420" Award) And last year High Times magazine named it the Marijuana Movie of the Year. 8 Stars!
