BoJack Horseman: Free Churro (2018)
Season 5, Episode 6

Piece of Art
13 November 2019
When i first saw this i saw bojack standing in a podium and talking. I waited a minute and then a minute and then a minute and it kept on going on. Then i realized this was going to be monologue episode. Why would you do that bojack i asked. But, it thankfully delivered an equally interesting pience of art by the end. This episode was a deeper look at bojack himself and his attempt to understand his mom who is lying dead. Season 4 showed us his relations with his mom and the reason she acts that way in an equally interesting episode "times arrow". This episode compliments it. They don't fight to take crown for best episode of bojack. Do watch this series and hope you would end up saying I see you.

BoJack Horseman: Time's Arrow (2017)

Time's indeed an arrow full of bittersweet feelings that strikes right to the heart

This is second last episode of 4th season and holds up the convention of bojack to have best second last episode in a season. This however is the best of them. Every moment is piece of art that invokes feelings, awe, pain, excitement at the direction the story moves to. Never once did i felt like checking my phone. I wont spoil it for you. Just watch this series first and then get to this episode as you progress. I assure you will love every moment of it and would express "why didn't i watched you before?" as i did at the end of season 3. For those saying free churo is best i say both are best. Both focus on bojack's family background and this chemistry with this mom and his and our attempt in understanding her. For me both are best in their own ways just like escape from LA.

Civilizations (2018)

Only Visual Art does not make up civilizations.
6 January 2019
I had huge hope for this series. I did not even read IMDB reviews before giving it a try on Netflix. As episode by episode i gave chances my hope were increasingly lost until I felt forced to write a review here. Civilization is not just visual art. Civilization is mostly human development over time based on different factors. Technology forms a backbone here. Agriculture was the first steps towards creating modern civilization because it forced us hunter gatherers to settle down. Harnessing sun, Wind, water became other factors. Art too is an important parameter but where are other sources of art like music or folks stories or mythical creatures? Given the sheer presence of science and technology here I would give only one chapter to art when it comes to civilization. There are simply so many things that could have taken especially the water and the importance it plays in civilization. This series did came pretty close when it talked about Yangtze river in one episode but did not go down further. This series was mostly obsessed with European visual arts. There was a whole episode on dome. My question during that time was where is pagoda? Pagoda was to east as dome was to west. But it was not even mentioned. Utter disappointment.

There is Heidi in everyone's heart. It just needs to be freed

No words can express the meaning of this series in my life. Even though it is short and pretty old(1971), It is about a timeless classic produced brilliantly. It remains mostly true to the spyri's version. This series made me fall in love with the mountains and trekking. Also, it made me like wilderness. The production is very top notch. The soundtrack is awesome. I watched the English version shown in India on Cartoon Network during 2000. The expression of the characters is simply realistic that you will be happy whenever they feel happy and tears flow when they are sad. The innocence of Heidi will reminded you of your own heart that is pushed under the burden of everyday busy life and expectations. No other anime or series has meant this much to me. The opening and closing credit music is simply magical. I really appreciate the work of the music department.

The problem of this series was it couldn't get proper unified distribution due to division of the production house. US never got wide distribution but only shorted movie version. English dubbed version was only done for India and Philippines and that too by cartoon network. This version cannot be found in DVD version. The only version found are Japanese which limits the customer rates. There were lots of dubbing in different language for different countries which became popular in those countries. But, lack of unified English dubbing means you cannot buy a international version of this timeless classic.
