Elementary: End of Watch (2014)
Best Episode Of This Season So Far
While I do agree that this season started off a bit weak and rough, this episode was quite interesting. The concept of a dirty cop was nice as well as Sherlock's character development. His scene with the Brainattic owner was great. He is truly a quotable character. Although some hate has been placed upon the two ladies, they did not interfere too much this time.
Overall, the plot and atmosphere reminds me of Blue Bloods. When Bell arrested Buros, there was a feeling of satisfaction and justice shared by the characters as well as the audience. This demonstrates the closely connected police community.
Torchwood: Miracle Day: The New World (2011)
Great Concept and Start to a New Torchwood Season!
This episode introduces a unique idea from the beginning and sets up the rest of the season. The idea that no one could die even if they wanted to makes your mind think. Of course, there could be advantages to immortality, but there are also so many consequences.
It's great to see Gwen and Jack back once more, as well as Andy, Rhys, Anwen, and new characters! Parts I love include Jack making Esther forget, like Gwen, and using Owen Harper as an alias. Gwen in action with her child is epic, too, and Rex cursing Wales as an American was amusing. Also, the reunion between Jack and Gwen as well as the action scenes afterward was fantastic.
Overall, this season and concept could go in many directions, and I'm looking forward to what's to come next.
District 9 (2009)
One Of The Most Creative Movies Ever
This movie was amazing! I bought it for three bucks and probably would have paid a lot more for it if I knew it was that awesome. Since I have just recently watched it, I'm kind of a bit late for the anticipation and the like for this movie. Seeing this in theaters would have made it that much better.
At first, I was expected a good action and thriller movie, which I got, but I also got a lot more: a good story, great characters, and an intriguing idea. I could have just settled for an average action movie with no plot, but I'm glad the director chose to do a lot more than that.
He changed our opinion on the "prawns" from disgusting to sympathetic. Even with the excessive use of the "f" bomb, the main character was also one to watch, as he made us change our mind.
There were many suspenseful moments, making the movie even more amazing. I couldn't wait for the ending, yet I could. Speaking of the end, it left me hanging, wishing for a sequel that I could watch. Except for the fact that it's been awhile with no sequel. The director said he wants to make several more movies before even considering going back to this one.
In the end, the cursing and some errors did not stop me from giving this movie a well deserved ten. It is awesome! Makes me want to see Elysium even more!
Unforgettable: Incognito (2013)
This Show Is Getting Better And Better
As the summary of this review says, I think the creators and writers of this show are upping their game as they create more creative ways of incorporating Carrie Well's ability into the show. I was watching television when I saw the promo/trailer for this show and decided to give it a shot. I'm glad I did because it adds a very unique twist on crime shows.
The second episode was better than the first, although the first was very good. When it started with the bank robbery, I was interested to see if the producers of the show could add something new to a common cliché in crime shows, and they did. I personally did not like how they showed the robbery first and then did a flashback, but I accepted it anyway.
As the episode continued, I was immediately hooked on Killbourne's (not sure if I spelled it right) character. Since I started to watch crime shows, I always liked the computer tech bad guy. When Carrie wanted to go undercover, I was intrigued.
The events before the robbery were nice, as Carrie acted like a badass. I also liked Arnold's character very much because of his half good half bad personality. At the end when I found out that Killbourne and Arnold were basically the same person, just different personalities, it made the show for me.
The other characters were great as well as the twists such as the changing of banks that they were going to rob and such.
Overall, this was the best episode of this show I've watched, though I've only watched two, but STILL. I will continue to watch next week's and see if they can top this episode. I doubt it, but I know it will still be good!
Whistle While I Work It (2013)
The Next American Gangnam Style
I was not expecting anything like this from Toby nor his friends. This music video is hilarious enough let alone the awesome music they composed. Featuring Chester See and Wayne Brady from the television show, "Let's Make A Deal", "Whistle While I Work It" is just another way for Toby to bring a new era of internet comedy to life.
In the video, there are countless funny moments as well as lyrics such as when the singers are blown away with slow motion wind or when Chester sings "I know somebody who knows somebody who knows somebody who knows". The dance is something that will catch on as well. With three different endings from the different point of views of the singers, this music video(s) will make any of Chester, Toby, or Wayne's fans laugh.
Overall, this is a must see music video. Just hit it up on YouTube to experience a new wave of music.
Crossing Lines (2013)
Best Crime Show That I've Seen
I've been watching many shows on CBS lately, but recently, NBC has been catching my attention with shows like this. This shows adds a new twist on American crime shows by setting it in Europe and having a cast with multiple nationalities both off and on the show.
From the first episode, I could tell that this was gonna be good. I love the uniqueness and originality of this show. Every episode is different from one another as well as from anything else I've seen. They take regular crimes such as a kidnapping or robbery and add a crazy twist on it, making it very suspenseful.
The cast is bad-ass, ranging from computer geniuses to arms specialists. Each character has their own awesome accent along with a great personality, back-story, and personal lives.
In all, Crossing Lines is a refreshing way to bring a great and original twist to crime show. I would highly recommend this show to fans of NCIS, Criminal Minds, Hawaii Five-0, etc. I'm kind of disappointed that this show is underrated. At least I can enjoy it, as it gets a well deserved ten out of ten from me! Second best show ever, and best crime show ever!
The River (2012)
Really Scary For A Television Show
When I saw the trailer/promo for this show, I knew I wanted to watch it. You don't see very many horror television shows, but this one proved that the genre can be a success if done right. With an appealing cast and twisted story, "The River" creates an awesome show to watch. I think that a lot more could have been done with the show if given the chance.
Each episode delivered more mystery and suspense with heart-stopping moments. The characters are also easy to relate to as their stories are developed. I don't remember much about this show except for the fact that it was awesome!
If I'm not mistaken, I think the show ended with a scene of the river and the land around it constantly changing so that the travelers could never get out. That was a good cutoff that should have been continued.
I wouldn't recommend this for the faint of heart, as it is definitely not for them. If you are a fan of horror or if you just want a good scare, watch "The River"!
Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010)
Best. Video game. Ever.
The Call of Duty franchise has done it again with it's new game, Black Ops. Despite whatever anyone says, Black Ops is a great game. From the game play to the graphics and the campaign, Black Ops truly delivers a promising experience to whoever plays it.
Starting with the campaign, Black Ops tells the story of a man who fights for his country, Alex Mason. Throughout most of the game, we get to play previous missions that Mason has been through. These are flashbacks that he is describing to an unknown interrogator who has strapped him down in a chair and surrounded him with monitors playing various video clips. The interrogator wants information that he presumes Mason has locked in his mind somewhere. As the game progresses, we see that Mason fought alongside Frank Woods and Bowman, his best friends in combat alongside many other characters. We see a true brotherly bond between them as they joke around and try to survive. In the end, we find out that Bowman along with Reznov, a Russian that helped Mason escape out of a prison, is dead. Mason tries to cope with his losses as Hudson, whom we find out is one of the interrogators, tries to find out where a certain ship housing a biochemical weapon called Nova 6 is. He believes that the weapon belongs to the Russians, and since Mason has been brainwashed by the Russians, that he would know where it is. In the end, they safely find the ship after Hudson urges Mason to remember the coordinates of the ship. The campaign is phenomenal and moving, proving how video game story lines are much better than most movies. We get to "be in someone else's skin" in video games, especially first person ones, where we are that person. Because we live their lives, we begin to feel how they feel. It is truly a great experience you can only feel within a game.
Secondly is the multi-player option. This allows for you to experience a great game with your friends. I personally have not used this option, but from what I've seen and heard, it is great.
The last playable option is the zombies mode, where you can play on multiple maps destroying creatures from hell. This is very heart-stopping and frightening, especially if you play it at night, but it is also very fun to play. Each round gets harder and harder until you eventually die. You can also play this with multiple people.
In all, this is a great game and a great entertainment option. I highly recommend this to any gamer which hasn't played this, but most have, so I will say to those that don't play games to go to a friend's house or something and give this game a shot. I guarantee you that you won't be disappointed. A well deserved two thumbs up and a ten star rating from me!
The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
Epic Conclusion To The Best Superhero Series Ever
Batman hasn't always been my favorite superhero, but as I got older, I began to relate to him more. He's the most "human" of all the superheroes out there in my opinion, as he has flaws, which makes for a great movie series. The director can show how he grows and evolves over the years, which is what Christopher Nolan did. Christian Bale also fit into Bruce Wayne's character very well.
This movie was an epic conclusion to a great series. "Batman Begins" did justice to Batman fans everywhere, "The Dark Knight" was even better, but "The Dark Knight Rises" went above and beyond what anyone expected.
There are two parts to this movie, the action and the story. Some people went to go see this movie for the action and special effects. They were not disappointed by heart-stopping scenes of suspense. Others went to see how Bruce Wayne's character would play out. What happened was that they saw a character accept who he is and found himself within. Both the action and story was spot on and even if you didn't liked one, you put your opinions aside to enjoy the other.
That's what great about this movie. It touches the heart while also delivering everything you would want in a great action movie. When Bruce Wayne (not Batman) climbed out of the pit, it was a great moment. When he flew the bomb out of the city (though it actually wouldn't completely save the city as radiation and pollution would still be a problem, but who cares?), it showed he was willing to risk even his own life in order to save a nation.
Lastly, the cast was also great. Everyone's character from Catwoman to Bane was truly revealed in this movie which made for a movie that not only focused on the main character, but others as well.
I would definitely recommend this series and movie to anyone who wants a good movie and story. It was a spectacular thing worth seeing. No wonder it has an eight point nine rating on IMDb and is tied for third best movie according to IMDb ratings. A well earned ten star from me!
Doctor Who (2005)
"A Phenomenal Classic For All Ages"
This show is personally my favorite show ever. From its cast to its story along with its nearly fifty year history, I will continue to describe why this show is worth watching.
First off, the cast. Anyone who is lucky enough to be on this show as one of the more major characters will be remembered forever. Since the Doctor has the ability to regenerate, each actor brings something new and unique to the table. Christopher Eccleston began the modern interpretation of this show with his mixture of humor and ability to be serious if needed. He and Billie Piper (as Rose Tyler) were a great duo to watch. His departure as the ninth doctor was a bit to early, but he gave way to my favorite doctor, David Tennant, the tenth doctor. David played for many seasons, featuring his love for adventure as well as his big heart. The actors who played his companions were very lucky to have worked with him. His departure was so very sad. The only reason I didn't stop watching the show completely is because of Matt Smith. His quirkiness and odd personality brought a new light into the show. As the youngest doctor ever, he is now on the acting level of David Tennant. We should also not fail to mention side characters such as the doctor's many companions and friends. They just added to this phenomenal show.
Secondly, the storyline. This is what allowed the show to continue for almost half a century. The show includes a perfect balance of action and character development. Looking past the original and classic monsters such as the Daleks, Weeping Angels, and Cybermen, we can also see and learn lessons from the Doctor and his companions. The doctor's ability to regenerate let the show continue and become new and fresh.
Finally, the history of this show is quite amazing. For nearly fifty years, Doctor Who has played to the hearts of its fans, opening an amazing franchise. It has fans both young and old, uniting all kinds of generations. I personally prefer the new and modern version because of the better special effects, but you can't mention this show without talking about its history.
In all, this is an amazing show and has something for everyone whether it's action, story, or life lessons. I highly recommend this to anyone and everyone and give it a well earned ten star rating.
