Better Call Saul: Fun and Games (2022)
Anyone else have to grab a Kleenex??
I won't post spoilers... but damn. This season is gut wrenching. I am so invested in everyone's dysfunctional relationship. And who can't get behind Gus at this point. Makes me irritated that Salamanca took him out in B. B.
Better Call Saul: Plan and Execution (2022)
I'm in shock and rewatching immediately
OMG. I loved Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul has exceeded any expectations I had. I did not see this episode coming... at all... OMG what else is there to say. The writing for this show is insane. I was a bit reluctant after the mega flop of the "movie" sequel... El Camino. But OMG. That's all I can say. Jaw dropped on the last 3 mins of this episode.
Ozark (2017)
Series Finale
I always go straight to the rating of the series finales... no matter what show has closed over the past few years, it's always evident that you can't please everyone. To see a 6.7 average on the finale tells me that at least made 2/3 of the viewers happy.... So then you look at why... is it bc Ruth was killed and everyone rooted for her? Or is it similar to the Game of Thrones outcome where most didn't root for Bran? Regardless of which side of the fence you fall on, the finale brought closure. And that's all I can really ask for from a series that I invested time in and enjoyed the hell out of. Tie it all together and give me closure. Love or hate the finale- the show was smart, well written, directed amazingly well with characters you could love or hate with almost not in betweens. I'm sad to see it end.
The Walking Dead: World Beyond (2020)
Here's the thing.. and others have said this
The writing is not good. Acting is ok from most, great from 1-2 and WTH were they thinking for Huck/Jennifer. If I see one more shoulder to mid section shrug event complete with "I'm a bad A$$" head bobbing, I'm going to scream. Yes- Huck is that bad of an actress.
Bottom line is this show is for the super fans/die-hards... who want to try and piece together TWDU and see how this all ends.
If this is how TWD began, not sure I'd be a super fan. It took the original and make this all seem plausible.
Watch simply bc it does tie things together. And try not to scream whenever Huck has a scene.
Why Women Kill (2019)
The best show around
The acting in seasons 1 and 2 is suburb. I was so pleased to see Allison Tolman and Lana Parrilla in season 2... I wish they'd release all at once instead of drip feeding the episodes. I think most of us are streaming at this point and CBS, ABC, and NBC are finally realizing this with the changes to their apps etc.
Coming 2 America (2021)
It is what it is!
Right now, I'll take dumb jokes and something to laugh at. Is it the best movie ever- no - but I'll take the smile it put on my face right now. It brought back memories from the first movie and a time when the crazy world seemed a bit less intense. Watch it for what it is... and just relax for a bit. Quit looking for a reason to write a critically acclaimed review of a master piece. It is what it is.
The Walking Dead: World Beyond: The Tyger and the Lamb (2020)
I just don't know
So- Michonne was getting mega annoying with her breathy delivery and overacting... BUT she's nothing compared to the chick who plays Huck. Was she told to be this damn awful and overact so much?!? Her delivery is nothing less that annoying- and what is up with her gait?!? Either the directors are "that bad" she's "that badz". Unfortunately, they've set this up to keep her around. We've got a gay costar so we know from the beginning they won't be any "shipping". Please make this show 100x better and get rid of her now.
Dear White People (2017)
Why the low ratings?
Granted- not all people find the same thing funny- but this whole "perpetuation of racism" and "puts white ppl in a bad light" is ridiculous. Some of it is a bit out there- but that's what makes it funny. And they are making fun of white stereotypes and black stereotypes... it's equal opportunity offensive if you want to look at it that way. Me- I just find the funny in it... and the funny in the reviews.
The Walking Dead: Squeeze (2020)
Not happy
Ok ... idiots who don't know about the AMC premiere club and early views... get a clue. And, underwhelming to say the least. Maybe I'll find some fellow midseason premiere haters too. I'm not vibing with the Alpha Negan coupling. I'm not digging on Carol being shown in this light. I'm not loving the ridiculous length of the rock jumping scenes... I'm not hating what happened at the end with the cave in.... but not loving it either. We have at least 3 episodes of "how do we get them out"... with one being turned.
Mary Queen of Scots (2018)
Train wreck
Like all train wrecks, this one keeps you staring... until every last bit of intelligence has been sucked from your soul. If I have to listen to Mary debate whether hot sleep with person, I'm going die.
I added a star because I can't seem to stop watching.... it makes me so frustrated!
Evil (2019)
Why this is the best new show
I had conflicting emotions about this one- as a Catholic and as a borderline agnostic who questions everything the Catholic Church has taught me over the years. I then read Roger Ebert's critical review and realized why I had such strong emotions about a TV show- of all things - and why this is one of the best new shows out there. It's not about If you believe in miracles, God, exorcism, the rites of the church etc. It's about the reality of the situations. The fact that no matter who you are or what your beliefs, you understand the characters and their duality. The writing and creation is that good. You can feel the conflict within each of the characters as they struggle with what they see, what they know, and what the world has taught them / led them to believe.
Hats off to all the people behind the scenes on this show. The actors are great- but what makes me come back are the people behind the show. You hooked me and I will be a fan for life... just don't kill this show when its season draws near. Too many shows try to wrap things up in a nice little package. I think it's ok to leave so many questions unanswered- it allows us to fill in the blanks with our own ideas.
The Walking Dead: What It Always Is (2019)
Just eh for me...
I know- 5 in and I shouldn't complain about build up.... but this was a bit much this week. The goiter, the Aaron/Gama exchange, finding out the whisperers are behind the mini attacks, Brandon (tooooo creepy and reminded me of Lizzy in a bizarro way). I dunno. The lead up shows promise for next week- I just hope this season delivers. I've had to start a binge of S1 through present just to remind me of how good this show CAN be.
Joker (2019)
Was dragged in, then couldn't get enough
I'm was not Phoenix fan until this movie. Truly one of the best, well acted, and visceral movies of the year. It's haunting, it makes you feel, and it makes you sympathize.... and you'll be thinking about the quotes and messages for days. It's true to the Joker... and even the negative critic reviews acknowledge that the movie makes you "feel". Awesome job all the way around. Loved the ending.
Reign (2013)
The most Bipolar show I've ever been addicted to
This show is the addiction I wish I could break. It's a modern day soap opera set in the times of Queens Mary and Elizabeth. My one wish- the writers had not decided in the beginning that EVERY single possible nuance of the time period had to be addressed in EVERY single episode. It's truly a guilty pleasure of mine and I can't wait to get through it. How the heck will they conveniently tie this all together is the reason I can't stop watching. It's also the reason I wish I could.
Single Parents (2018)
One of the better new sitcoms
The cast works well together and delivers some very funny moments. The children cast are perfect for the roles and really pull the show together. Very enjoyable and worth watching.
The Bear Whisperer (2011)
Stumbled upon and worth the watch
If you like reality shows and shows about animals-a must see. If this isn't your thing-skip it. The editing is great. The videography is excellent. Mr. Searles is one of a kind. It's really worth the watch to see human / Black Bear sharing space.
