Smallville: Obsession (2004)
We meet a Clark-obsessed Alicia...
I really like Alicia and think she could have been a reoccurring character. It would have been good for Clark to have a proper relationship with someone and if they didn't decide to turn Alicia into a psycho stalker then she could've been that someone. Her and Clark had great chemistry.
That being said, the episode was enjoyable! The first two acts were good, the awkwardness when Jonathan caught Clark and Alicia (although I thought his parents were way too harsh on Clark), even the quick psycho trajectory of Alicia kind of worked. The last act which involved Lana lost me however, and felt like it was just another pointless excuse to have her be the damsel in distress.
The last scene with Lionel though! Really love seeing snippets (and sometimes more than snippets) of his evilness.
Smallville: Velocity (2004)
Pete-centric episode that missed the mark
Season 3 has a lot of great episodes, but this isn't one of them and is definitely one of the weak links of the season.
This episode is a perfect example of the writers not knowing what to do with Pete. Pete has a lot of potential as a character, especially as he was the only one outside the Kent family that knows the 'secret'. While I understand the writers were trying to illustrate the complexities and human consequences of knowing Clark's secret, I still feel it's a shame they chose this route for Pete.
Pete seemed out of character in the first half of the episode, and I wasn't believing the friendship between Clark and Pete was as strong as they always say it is.
That being said, the episode isn't completely unwatchable. Sam Jones' acted really well for what he was given. Adam's storyline isn't riveting but it is nice to see a reoccurring character outside the main cast and usual 'freak of the week'.
Life (1999)
One of Eddie Murphy's finest
I'm really surprised at the low score of this film, it should be at least an 8/10.
Every couple of years I watch this and it never fails to entertain. This film is a extremely underrated. Classic, with a blend of comedy and drama, Murphy and Lawrence have great chemistry on screen, and it's great to see so many Black American comedians and actors in one film. One of my favourites and I highly recommend.
