Grey's Anatomy: You Are the Blood (2022)
Holy moly!
I loved all the covers of the classic OG Grey's Anatomy songs to get us in the right reflective mood! Aside from the weird/fake baby (but I get it, we're still not out of the woods with the pandemic), the highs and lows hit all the right note! I agree with my fellow reviewers who took the time to write something about this top-shelf episode. As a viewer since the beginning (and having rewatched the first 10 seasons), this is one of the best episodes. Because it reminds me why this show, despite its flaws, is like an old friend that I just want to be around, because I know it (its characters and stories) so well, and I want to continue to be a part of the journey. Keep up the good work!
The Resident: Da Da (2021)
Been there, but not done that
I don't understand the poor reviews (just because we've seen cyber attacks before). There are many POVs to approach any major events, and I believe they still created a compelling season opener with this episode. I also enjoyed the loving-father-creates-empathic-daughter storyline, despite the heartbreak at the end.
Bo Burnham: Inside (2021)
It's an enjoyable (and at times rough) ride, all in a good way
"Bo Burnham Inside" is witty and reflective. It's the stream of consciousness of a creative self-described "white guy" during the crazy-making year of COVID. It's the perfect night-time flick, to be watched with a stiff drink. A couple of times, I was like "wow, he went there," but like all the musically inclined comedians, I enjoyed many of the songs and his lol lyrics. As he aptly put it, "can one be funny when stuck in a room?" Well, all you need to do is get to the song "welcome to the internet." Most importantly, he spoke (really) honestly about his struggle with mental health. I appreciated that a lot.
Grey's Anatomy: Sign O' the Times (2021)
Meaning
Recall the Grey's sexual assault episode that received rave reviews? It was a raw and empathy-inducing episode. I'm frustrated that folks who are in a privilege position get to complain about episodes like this, that they can't find their "escape," when a lot of the scenes featured in this episode writ large in people's real lives. There's no escaping for them. The least we can do is to reflect and try to be in their shoes for a little less than an hour.
The Good Doctor: Lim (2021)
Good writing
This episode was filled with emotional depth and ethical dilemmas, with a dose of levity for good measure. I enjoyed it.
Grey's Anatomy: Silent All These Years (2019)
A powerful episode!
#metoo has been increasingly discussed in the national rhetorics, but this episode took the time and explored viscerally the stories and their impact. It's revealing and heartbreaking.
