I don't understand the hostility to this movie. I thought it was an offbeat sleeper full of laugh-out-loud details, really funny dialog and some great (albeit bizarre) performances. Not all of the scenes made it, but overall the movie made me laugh out loud repeatedly (embarassing since I was on the train).
I guess it's just one of those movies that is going to arouse strong feelings. If you have a taste for the unusual, then you might check it out. After all, you may be one us bizarros who really like it.
I notice from the demographics that the movie does best among us old fossils who grew up in the 60's and 70's. Maybe it's the drugs.
