The Last of Us (2023– )

Decent series, but way overrated
13 February 2023
As I write, the current IMDB rating for this series is 9.2, which places it among legendary series like The Wire, The Sopranos, or Game of Thrones. Please. This series incorporates themes from Children of Men (2006) and various post-apocalyptic road films, but does not rise to the level of the best of any of them. I am 5 episodes into the series and there are already some minor problems with the series, although it is highly watchable overall. The acting is decent, and some of the characters more likeable than others. Full disclosure, I haven't played the video game and was not even familiar with it before watching this series. It's a good series, but it's not worthy of an 8+ IMDB rating.

The Guild x Spaced Hybrid

The character dynamics and British humour of Spaced with the millennial online plot of The Guild. Very good!

how many times does Hollywood need to make the same movie in the same year?

Just watch Togo with Willem Dafoe. I expect they put cheap knockoffs like this out because they know people will get confused and pay to watch the wrong movie.

It's abominable alright.

Was this a Chinese funded propaganda movie? Unlikable characters, ridiculous story, annoying visuals.

Maybe the under 12 crowd might like this, but don't even think about making it into a fun family movie night.

This is a perfect example of a failed cannabis business
14 January 2018
So if it doesn't make it to season 2, it will prove to be very accurate...ha!

Red flags the "dispensary" is headed for failure:
  • owner is high all the time
  • workers are high all the time
  • owner/workers/customers consuming Cannabis on the premises (helping themselves?)
  • closet-scale grow operation run by a kid with zero commercial growing experience
  • owner doesn't seem to have a lawyer and is never dealing with regulatory hurdles

When is the "Inspector arrives and leaves a big fine" episode?

This basic premise might work if it was more of a comedy/drama...instead it's almost Cheers in a pot shop...meh
