Anastasia (1997)
Anastasia survived i believe that to my core
I heard about the amazing life of Grand Duchess Anastasia ftom my Mother. She told me that it was a true story that one of the Tzar's Daughters had survived the bloodshed in the basement. Also it was said that she changed her name and traveled to, i believe, New York. Many of the russians who had managed to escape the revolution in Russia agreed that she was Anastasia but of course there were others who saw her as a fraud looking for the reward that was being offered to the person(s) who could bring Anastasia to the russian group in i believe New York with unshakeable proof that shevwas whom she claimed to be. There was a ballet created to tell her story. My Mother and I saw it done by rhe Royal Ballet Company at Covent Garden in London. It was breathtaking and heart wrenching. There were russians who denied she was the Grand Duchess. I do believe that Anastasia survived. Wherever she rests now I so hope she is at peace and together with her family again. I wish I could see the ballet again it is one of my favorites. AND I pray that Anastasia is resting in peace with her family.
Night Passage (1957)
Two Heroes in one movie!
Jimmy Stewart and Audie Murphy...two truly gifted actors and both served in WW II. Stewart was, i believe, a Colonel in the US Air Force and Audie was the most decorated Soldier in WWII. Not sure where Jimmy is buried but I know where Audie is laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. He received the Medal of Honor which, going by the regs at National cemeteries meant his marker info would be in gold leaf. Audie requested his Wife to be sure his marker was the same as the majority of his fellow Soldiers. His resting place is across the street from the Memorial Amphitheater at Arlington...there is a tree with a flagstone path around it. Audie is there. I was a guide in Arlington for 3 years and would mention the place he rests now and again. The problem that arose was some visitors would take flowers from other Graves and put them on Audie's. Please don't do that.
Notting Hill (1999)
Reminded me of London
The team of Roberts and Grant is truly inspired! And the location was one I have been to many times during my family's time in London..our Mom and I made frequent trips to Portobello Road-a well visited weekly street market ..you never knew what you would find...sadly I never found Hugh Grant 😭. Love watching this movie-Hugh's housemate is a true comedic wonder! 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Lovejoy (1986)
Ian McShane snd antiques...SIGN ME UP!
From my first "meeting" with Lovejoy it/he has been a true love of my life!...
Our Mom was into antiques and our family spent 2 tours of duty in London...antique central!
Thank you to the splendid cast and crew and whomever decided to have them return in DVD and re-runs.
21 Bridges (2019)
Miss him
It was hard to watch this movie for me...but it was so great to see Chadwick 1 more time...being stupendous as always.
Rest strong spirit.
The Legend of Bagger Vance (2000)
Grew up in a golfing family this movie is beyond wonderful
This is one of my all time favourite golf movies...the cast alone is extraordinary...add to that the beautiful story and the true chemistry amongst the cast.
I grew up in a golfing family...I was Dad's caddie and our younger Brother was Mum's. Our Sister also has been one to swing a club or two.. We saw some beautiful courses in California...Virginia...Ireland...England ..and I'm trying to get to see St Andrews in Scotland where it all began. I may get weepy a bit since Dad and Mum have gone ahead...but I know they will be there with me.
Independence Day (1996)
Great movie to just enjoy and forget reality for a few hours
I LOVED this movie....the cast and crew ....FX teams...
I want to thank everyone from the big stars to the extras and that awesome dog actor too!
First time I saw this movie I was in a packed theater on opening weekend! It was audience participation truly! Cheering...gasping and I do believe we all gave the flick a standing ovation....
A Princess for Christmas (2011)
A modern fairy tale
This is truly a modern fairy tale...and I watch it every Christmas season...
The actors are believable and the scenery and locations are stunning.
The added bonus is Sam Heaughan as the Prince...I truly was agog....and it was rather cool to see a former James Bond...acting opposite a very strong front runner for the next James Bond...
The Untouchables (1987)
Okay you think you can do better?
PROVE IT.
They had the facts straight..the locations were on point...stellar action scenes...and Sean Connery!
Downton Abbey (2019)
Oh to visit Downton again
Not a wasted bit of fluff...everyone cast and crew were simply marvelous!
I did get a tad teary eyed in places...
BRAVO and HUZZAH to all involved!
Battleship (2012)
AWESOME MOVIE
We had the game battleship when I was a kid..lol...Am a huge fan of Liam Neeson...and actually met COL Gadson after a briefing on Fort Belvoir. Great gent!
Darkest Hour (2017)
LOVE THIS SERIES!
From the stars to the folks on the catering service on set and off...Bravo to you all!
I had the pleasure of living in England...and had the chance to visit Marlborough House...the boyhood home of Sir Winston Churchill.
This series is truly wonderful!!
Zookeeper (2011)
A fun movie for all ages
I grew up going to THE BEST zoo in the world..The San Diego Zoo...
The zoo staff were always taking care of the animals ..improving their habitats etc...
This movie is wonderful fun for all ages!
The casting is great and my final score is 5 stars.
The Crown (2016)
God Save the Queen
I just finished watching The Crown..on my phone...it was beyond splendid!
My family and I lived in London twice...in the 1960's and again in the 1970's.
Every part was perfectly cast. The costumes...the sets ..the locations...spot on!
I actually remember watching the news reports from Wales, while we were in our hotel at the start of our first residency, after that horrific event.
The cast was beyond amazing...the locations splendid...bravo to all.
Night of the Lepus (1972)
A family movie night in Dublin, Ireland
Dad I think picked this double bill..I'm not sure...Night of the Lepus and one of the many Airport movies.
Lepus was first...glad I have a strong stomach. It was a horrifically bad horror movie attempt. If you need a good laugh see if you can find a copy...just don't have any meat type munchies as you watch this movie.
While You Were Sleeping (1995)
A gem of a movie
Not a weak point in this movie!
Effortless flow.....everyone is AB FAB!
HUZZAH to the cast and crew
Christmas Coach (2019)
Male lead and scenery awesome
Who cast that woman as the female lead? UGH.
Lovely scenery...male lead was great..locations truly beautiful...
Mary Queen of Scots (2018)
Costumes and scenery out do AKtors
Having lived in the UK for a few years I can assure you this movie is bloody awful..except for, as mentioned above, the awesome scenery and stunning costumes. I watched it once..hoping the AKting would give way to true acting...never occured..more soap opera stilted bantering
King Arthur (2004)
Arthur should pay a visit to those that created this crap
I have loved the tales of Arthur and his knights...this pile of fertilizer has nothing to do with King Arthur...Clive Owen I am sorry you had to be in this one.
And the whole idea of broken fingers healing enough for the use of a long bow? I cry merde!
Silverado (1985)
Great salute to the western movies of old
I grew up watching westerns both American and spaghetti...hardly missed an episode of bonanza (I longed to have Little Joe's horse).
John Wayne himself was probably smiling down as he rode the trail amongst the stars...Loved this movie.
The Favourite (2018)
Had to turn it off
I love history and having lived in England for a time I got hooked on the history of the royals through the ages.
Queen Anne deserves better than this absurd and badly done telling of Anne's story.
NO STARS
The Saint (1997)
Kept me company on a long flight
I was flying to my 20 year high school reunion in England...and since I can't keep on planes I checked out the movies. I remember as a kid watching the original series The Saint with Roger Moore....and since I was a fan of Val to a certain extent I picked The Saint ...lol...I watched it about 4 times...it is a good movie...and the two leads were matched well. The international locations were awesome. I think Roger Moore would approve.
Rocketman (2019)
Elton truly is awesome
Just saw the movie and it was beyond marvelous! I was in London at school from 74 to 77 and his music was the music I truly loved hearing.
Thank you for showing this incredible man whose music impacted and continues to impact our world such a very well deserved and at times a very touching look behind the glasses of the or and only Elton John.
Aladdin (2019)
Stunningly beautiful and funny too
Yes I am old enough to say I saw the "original" Aladdin...will miss Robin forever BUT even Robin wad probably loving how the one and truly awesome Wil Smith made the genie HIS genie!
And tryst me....if I were about 30 years younger I would have posters of this Aladdin on my bedroom walls!!
The actors and crew..wow they made a magnificent presentation lol...I could almost smell the spice markets and the camels!
I highly and strongly recommend this lavish and wondrous movie to all! Goodness knows I'm seeing it a few more times!
The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption (2012)
Live the actors...who did this to visit Thailand
Awesome action stars...loved the elephants...the script writer had fun writing a complete mess...dud I mention I loved the elephants?
