Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013)
Not what I expected
I just finished the first episode. I was under the impression that this would be a TV-14 show, but it was TV-PG. I expected some gun violence and fist fights, but it was more focused on comedy than the action at times. The actors are mostly new ones, under experienced ones. This isn't necessarily a bad thing because some of the best television shows start out with new actors. But, if I must say, the show lacks the feel that The Avengers, or any other Marvel movies had. The writing doesn't allow the characters to fit together, at least, not from what we've seen from the pilot episode. There are more than a few references to The Avengers and previous movies, including (what I assume) is the flying car from the Captain America film. The show is a bit dry at times, but of course, it's the pilot so we still have to wait a bit to get a second opinion. In terms of first impressions, this show didn't meet the high standards I had set up for it. Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) has changed a lot since the Avengers, and I think they changed him a bit too much. The special effects feel a little cheap, the set and cool technology seems toned down a lot compared to the movies. But I have a feeling that all the show really needs is character development. And I feel that over time this will blend perfectly, just as the Avengers did: We'll just have to wait and see
Blade Runner (1982)
Without Hyperbole, Worst Sci-Fi Ever
I love Harrison Ford. I had very high expectations with this movie. The future, robots that look like humans, futuristic city, flying cars. And it has an 8.3 rating. I cannot explain how overrated this movie is. The movie does not explain anything about what is happening. The entire first quarter of the movie is Harrison Ford walking around extremely confused. There is very little action in this movie and the false opinion that the movie reveals something about "human nature" or "the human mind" is plain wrong. If you are a hardcore science fiction person, action person, or any human being that has ever lived, you will hate this movie. Half way through the movie, Harrison ford drops everything he's doing to practically rape one of the robots. I was only thirty minutes in when I wanted to turn it off but I'm glad I stayed until the ending because I have found the most over rated film in the history of science fiction
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)
Tied with the Original
I'd say this is tied with the original "Raiders of the Lost Ark." The dialogue and action mixes really well from beginning to end between both Indiana and his father. The holy grail was a very interesting artifact and made for a very interesting story. The entire movie includes some very famous scenes, including the boat scene, the library scene, and the second half of the movie is spot-on terrific. This is a great action movie and shows the power and desperate desire for immortality. This movie ended on a high note, and it should have ended that way. My advice is you shouldn't watch the fourth movie, though. This is a better ending then it could ever be. Plus, the soundtrack is amazing. Great to watch for fathers day, that's my plan
Zombieland (2013)
Some new actors replace the old actors from "Zombie Land" to make a very bad TV show
This was such a disappointment. In the very first scene (not a spoiler) they just say "fuck" for the first three minutes, going on about something that happened in a star bucks. The actors that were hired to replace the classic actors were terrible. The zombie makeup was completely awful. The story was absolutely horrible, the acting itself was horrible, and the writing was horrible. The jokes that would sound casual and smooth in the movie were choppy and sloppy in show. This went from a funny zombie movie to a pathetic, raunchy, TV show where "vagina" is said about forty times in the first episode. The fact that it IS a TV show means there is a lot less blood and gore and its very disappointing. Nothing at ALL like the walking dead. I can't believe this got made
Looper (2012)
Bruce Willis kills some kids
I watched this movie when it first came out. I was very hopeful for the movie because it involved time travel, Bruce Willis, and Gordon-Levvitt (Blake/Batman from Dark Knight Rises) but this movie was one of the most over-rated titles I've ever seen. A lot of other reviews focus on how the trailers were focused on bodies that were being sent back in time and people were hired to kill them and dispose of their bodies. First of all, this doesn't make much sense. At all. But besides that, the second half of the movie (after Gordon runs into Bruce Willis) they focus entirely on this kid who has the power to pick up stuff with his mind. And he is so good with it, he makes a man explode. Blood splatters across the room and on the kid, who is only about 7 mind you. So while the young bounty hunter (Gordon) is trying to protect the older bounty hunter (Willis) from killing him, Bruce Willis is tracking down a whole lot of kids that look like the kid with the power and killing them. Bruce Willis killing children. That happens for about 40 minutes and nothing else happens but waiting around for Bruce to show up. When he does, they get into a fight, and then the kid escapes. Now, the kid is insane and in the future he's a crime leader. So everything that happened in the movie was redundant. AND THE MOVIE BARELY FOCUSED ON THE FACT IT WAS ABOUT THE LOOPERS, THE PEOPLE THAT KILLED PEOPLE. I wanted to walk out of this movie. I'm glad I didn't though because I would have given it a better rating if I didn't watch the ending. Horrible script, horrible everything.
