Parco P.I. (2005)
This is the worst show I have EVER seen
I cannot believe I actually set up a 'season pass' on my TiVo for this, apparently they had a good preview or something .. I can't imagine it though. After seeing about 5 minutes I thought to myself.. why am I watching this.. It is definitely not reality, and some of the worst acting I have ever seen on television.. I am a total addict of reality TV and there is nothing real about this. THE ACTING.. (if you can call it that) is awful.. The only ones that are almost 5% decent are the girls that are meant to draw viewers to the show.. although they would need to be a lot prettier to save this train wreck.. if they would have more lines they would probably change my mind as they probably have no talent either. This is obviously a very low budget production with 'actors' who are apparently very cheap. There is no way they could get a job in anything else. Someone needs to direct these people to a job in food service.. Maybe they could do that. Oh and by the way, Parco P.I. no longer occupies any space on my TiVo or TiVo's season pass list. Definitely the worst show I've ever seen.
Noah's Arc (2005)
Very entertaining... I thoroughly enjoyed it!
A black QAF is how it was described to me by a good friend of mine who picked up the season on DVD. Unfortunately I do not get logo on my cable system and I couldn't find the DVD in any stores in my conservative section of the Midwest. I found it available for download to my iPod and did so. I watched the entire 1st season in one sitting. Unlike some of the opinions expressed hear, I find this better than QAF and think that it portrays gays in a more positive light.. I don't think I remember many episodes of QAF when they didn't show anonymous hook-ups in dark back rooms. I really adore this show... the characters AND actors! The drag show sequence in "Don't Make Me Over" choreographed by Frank Gatson was very well performed. I LOVED IT.
Brokeback Mountain (2005)
One of the greatest movies of all time
As the ending credits were about to roll I actually thought to myself that this movie has replaced Gone With the Wind as MY favorite all time movie. The performance by Heath Ledger was flawless and his chemistry with Jake Gyllenhaal was quite believable. Although I usually pass on movies that are over 2 hours, I could have endured another 2 easily. I don't think I looked at my watch one time. I was very glad to see it win the GG for best picture and director and hope that it makes a good showing for the Oscars. I am sure I will see this again before it leaves the theaters and it will definitely be in my DVD collection. I feel that everyone should see this movie --- AT THE THEATER --- apart from the great story, the cinematography should be seen on the big screen.
Boat Trip (2002)
Better than most here say
It is apparent as I read the comments of others on "Boat Trip" in occurred to me that they may have been watching the wrong movie. I say this because it seems that most were expecting an intellectually fortifying movie which this is NOT (fortunately my acuity is such that I usually find exactly what I am looking for during my jaunts to the video store); what it is is a fun movie that delivers exactly what it should. I would suggest that someone in search of a film with depth or meaning not get a movie with Horatio Sanz portraying the second billed character. He doesn't do those. Could it have been funnier? Perhaps, but it was entertaining for me and would recommend it to others that want to see a fun movie that doesn't stimulate the mind. I normally don't venerate movie critiques, professional or otherwise as not everyone has the same point of view. Most films that have been negatively reviewed I find to be quite enjoyable. I guess it is because I view them as what they are and do not try to make them into a failure of something else. As the movie "Boat Trip" goes... yes, it may be a bit stupid at times, but stupid does not have to be bad; stupid can be funny as well, that is why a certain Late Show host uses the word to describe his human and pet tricks segments! I give this movie 7.5 out of 10.
Gone with the Wind (1939)
Praise of film and comments on new 4 disc collector set
This is an extraordinary production... of course it is a classic. So many of my friends haven't even seen this because they don't THINK they would be interested in the subject matter. Well... I just say (THEY DON'T THINK). To deny oneself the opportunity of seeing one of, if not the greatest motion pictures to ever be on the big screen is criminal. If you haven't seen this movie... you should, and the newly released (11-09-2004) four disc collectors set has got some of the most fascinating special features ever released including memoirs by Olivia de Havilland! Drive fast... don't run... to your preferred movie rental agency or retailer!
