Spirited (2022)
Good afternoon!
Okay, with the exception of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, I hate all musicals. They feel forced and heavy handed. They all suck.
Except for Spirited. It started off a bit contrived, but man it picked up and never came back down. Without posting spoilers, the music numbers (and even the sudden breaks in the singing) were all well placed, well thought out, and perfectly timed.
This was a great modern take on the classic Dickens story and honestly almost as good as Scrooged (that was a masterpiece). There are a few bits of innuendo that adults will find funny but will go over small kid's heads.
I hope that they eventually put this on Blu-ray or 4K. It will be a great addition to my annual Christmas viewing collection.
Good afternoon, and Merry Christmas to all!
The Orville: Electric Sheep (2022)
I didn't hate this episode
This episode seems to be divisive amongst the fan base. Here is my take:
They had to deal with the elephant in the room, Isaac's betrayal. If they didn't, then we would be complaining about the gloss over.
While completely lacking in humor, I feel this episode was true to form. At no point was I told what the "right way to think" was. The viewer is presented with both sides. I understood where Charly and the others like her were coming from, and I understood the opposite side as well. Yes, some parts were a bit heavy handed, but it wasn't atrocious.
All in all, I think it was a good way to address Isaac's betrayal and redemption arc, and the way it would impact those around him. Can you honestly say that you can't see the "other" sides point of view? I know I can't.
Supernatural: Monster Movie (2008)
But I have a coupon
That line had me rolling!!!😂😂😂
Really great episode!
The Hudson Brothers Razzle Dazzle Show (1974)
How many people are here because of Family Guy?
Same here. I gotta find an episode of this somewhere...
Superman & Lois: Pilot (2021)
Really great pilot!
Without giving any spoilers, I have to say that I was very pleased with this pilot. No woke BS, no doom and gloom... just great story telling and character development! I really hope they don't bait-and-switch us, but so far this is the best thing the CW has put out in a long time!
The Circle (2020)
Makes Jersey Shore look like a MENSA meeting.
This show is payback for the sins of mankind. It is absolutely garbage. I would rather eat veggie bacon for the rest of my life than watch another second of this crap.
Maybe I'm too old...
Some Assembly Required (2014)
A good, clean show.
No there are no lessons to learn, and yes the plot is razor thin, but with the rest of today's programming having adult concepts sprinkled into their shows it is refreshing to have a clean show that my kids can watch. There needs to be more programming like this out there.
Young Sheldon (2017)
Way better than the garbage trailers
Well written show with some heart tugging moments (the scene where Sheldon's dad was disappointed in him made me pause it and go hug my kids, lol). Word of caution: do not go into this thinking that it will have the same pace or comedy as TBBT, as it is a different style. All in all, I really enjoy this show.
Justified (2010)
One of the best
This is one of my favorite shows ever! The series starts off rocky, but once you get to episode 4 it takes off and never slows down.
New Amsterdam: Rituals (2018)
First episode was great! This one...
This one was dull, mindless, boring, and completely ludicrous. I get what they were trying to do with it, but I damn near lost it when the witch doctor spit her drink on the patient! Too over the top...
Hopefully the next one is better.
Venom (2018)
I liked it
The good: Tom Hardy did a phenomenal job with this role. The CGI was also really enjoyable (especially in 3D).
The not so good: The supporting cast/villain were poorly cast. That, coupled with a mediocre script, made for more than a few cringe worthy moments.
All in all, I enjoyed the movie and will probably buy it when it comes out on DVD, I just hope that the sequel will have more thought out into its script and casting.
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
Riker directed this crap?!?
Terrible dialogue, heavy handed script, nauseating characters... eff this...
At no point in time did this feel like Star Trek. Having watched the whole season, I wish I could take the damn blue pill and wake up in a world without this show.
Michael is not believable as someone who was raised in the Vulcan culture. Such an amazing plot idea gone to waste (just like the entire show!)
The script writers need someone to quote Billy Madison to them:
"...what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."
Three closing words: Worse. Than. Voyager.
